[0.0s] Thanks so much for being here, friend. [1.5s] Dumbgeons and Dragons will begin in a moment. [4.4s] Alydin, you were expelled from the chamber that we were in, the library. [12.0s] I thought you were just going to say school. [13.9s] I got like what I do. [16.8s] This is the real question. [18.4s] This is the mystery. [19.3s] What did Alydin do? [21.3s] It's a real, it's a memento style game. [24.6s] Alydin is also covered in tattoos. [26.7s] Okay. [27.7s] You're expelled from the chamber and then June came by and like grabs you by the arm [33.0s] and said you haven't been in school enough. [34.5s] You need to, you need to get over here. [37.4s] Got to get my learning on. [38.6s] You yelled back not to do anything cool while you were gone. [41.7s] So everybody just sat on the curb. [43.8s] Like they just waited for three whole episodes. [47.2s] Excellent. [48.0s] This is good audio. [48.7s] As they should. [50.3s] But we find you at school and this is, this is about a day later. [55.3s] So you're reconnecting. [56.8s] Bizard has joined you. [59.5s] This isn't informal class right now. [62.9s] I mean, it could very well be formal class, but Bizard has joined you. [66.9s] You're expecting Cav in a little while and you are asking some questions about [74.9s] one of the books that you pulled off of his shelves. [77.4s] The book is Artificers. [80.7s] Are they just in it for the clocks? [83.2s] Are they just in it for the clocks? [85.3s] They have to read the book. [86.2s] Yeah, we'll find out. [87.2s] I'm sure. [89.1s] Dumbgeons and Dragons is a D&D actual play podcast and I'm your dungeon [93.4s] master Russ More, he, him. [95.4s] Also with me today is Amy More as Alydin, she, her. [98.9s] You haven't read the book. [100.5s] Tom Laird is Kavlaran Goldweave, he, him. [103.4s] The school of hard knockers. [105.6s] And Kyle Claset is Bizard the Wizard, he, him. [108.6s] The potent magic of the fae is so strong to make one forget that they need to use the restroom. [114.8s] Dumbgeons and Dragons is a Patreon supported show. [117.4s] So every twist, every triumph, every truly questionable decision is possible because [123.7s] of listeners like you. [125.6s] Join us today at patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast and now fuck it. [129.4s] Let's play. [132.4s] Alydin, how far did you did you get in into our reading? [137.4s] How far was I supposed to go again? [139.1s] I mean, it's kind of like at your own pace. [141.3s] This is, you're supposed to be motivated by wanting to learn because it's your own [146.1s] craft and it's a really no no setting your own terms is is ideal because I want to [153.0s] encourage you and not push you. [155.7s] Well, I read nine chapters. [157.8s] Nine chapters. [158.7s] Okay. [160.0s] Excellent. [160.6s] Excellent. [161.7s] So if I could read those, would you be willing to give me a presentation over [169.7s] chapters one through three next week? [172.1s] Sure. [172.8s] But I mean, it was just kind of like, okay. [177.9s] I tell you what made her a 14 year old about this book. [180.6s] That's actually boring school stuff. [184.6s] That's boring school stuff. [186.5s] I I want you to put what you've learned into practice. [194.8s] I want you to go through figure out answer for yourself. [199.4s] Are you just in it for the clocks? [201.4s] Because what does that you need to tell me what that means? [205.7s] Well, it gives a whole new meaning to time as a construct for sure. [211.3s] But I am not just in it for the clocks. [215.8s] I don't know why I'm in it because I can be and I think that is pretty cool [223.7s] and I want to know what I can do. [225.8s] Okay. [227.2s] You've told me just enough to make me realize what the point of the book is. [232.2s] And I'm sure if I skimmed a little bit, it sounds like the point of the book [236.8s] is not you haven't read the book. [238.6s] No, I'm not an artificer. [240.5s] It was recommended to me to give to you. [242.4s] But if I were to make a guesstimation based on that and what you've just [246.1s] told me are they in it just for the clocks? [248.8s] Technically. [249.4s] Yes, because it sounds like you want to know what makes things tick. [253.0s] Oh, yeah. [254.7s] Yeah, I see what they did there. [256.7s] Clever writing, clever writing indeed. [259.7s] So if you could because everything's got to intermingle with gears [267.1s] and moving parts based off of what you've been telling me and I want [273.3s] you to try to think of something that you want to make using this [279.3s] knowledge and I want it to be practical beneficial for your everyday life. [288.0s] This needs to serve you in making your life easier. [292.2s] Can I just add to my little duck guy and I bring out my little [300.6s] absolutely there's nothing wrong with improving upon something [303.9s] you've already started developing. [305.2s] It's actually giving you a leg up and being able to give you [308.5s] a chance to go in and review work you've done with this new keen eye. [312.6s] You may actually see some missteps that you took originally and [316.9s] so you may not only be able to modify and add to it, [321.0s] but overall improve it. [322.5s] So I that's actually a great first place to start. [326.7s] So any ideas like I'm curious, you know, just with like the [335.0s] springboard what you want to do with your duck kind of walks [339.4s] in circles at the moment. [340.8s] So he's not super mobile, but if I could get him to be more [347.4s] mobile, I could maybe send him like on errands and stuff retrieval. [356.2s] Okay, so retrieval that's that's useful especially because they [360.9s] can probably looking at the size difference your duck can probably [363.7s] get places that you might not be able to so that could be helpful. [367.8s] You're pondering this here bizarre. [371.0s] You're the only two in this classroom right now and as you [375.9s] two are discussing a a bell in the room begins to ring which [382.1s] causes you both to turn and this is like a larger size bell [385.7s] with a rope on it with the intent to like ring it to start [388.9s] the class but like it's ringing by itself. [391.8s] That's unusual for you. [393.3s] Alydin you look at it and the school's been doing some weird [397.2s] things since it's opened up and this is just one of the many [400.7s] things that's been happening. [403.3s] Oh my God that thing again. [405.9s] Did they change something with the like is it actually time [409.9s] for class like how that's new. [414.3s] We can't go by the bell system anymore because they [417.5s] go off so randomly. [421.5s] Hmm. [422.8s] I'm thinking ghosts. [425.5s] Yeah, that's a possibility. [428.5s] I guess I don't know what's not a possibility now after [431.7s] everything we've kind of gone through but hear footsteps [436.2s] now at distant footsteps coming down the hallway. [439.5s] They sound familiar. [441.0s] You could even place them to Kavlaran then we cut out [443.8s] in the hall and we see Kavlaran looking into classrooms [447.8s] trying to find Bizard and Alydin you get further down [451.3s] the hallway of the school and like compared to the one [455.2s] of the last times you were in Kavlaran like everything [458.7s] is looking very good in the school. [460.6s] There's fresh coats of paint over a lot of the school. [463.5s] There's fresh banners everywhere. [465.5s] There's a mix of like new desks and some very old [468.7s] furniture as you're peeking your head in and out of [472.0s] in and out of the classrooms and then you catch Bizard's [475.3s] voice as he's explaining whatever lesson he and Alydin [479.6s] are a couple doors ahead. [481.9s] I'll make my way in there. [483.2s] You go to open the door and you turn the knob and then [487.2s] are like hit by the door as it appears to be locked [491.0s] even though the handle spun for you and a figurine of [495.9s] like this lion's head which is in the form of a [499.3s] knocker begins to speak to you and it says please [503.5s] state your name and your purpose Kavlaran Goldweave. [508.9s] I want to see my friends it pauses and you see it [512.8s] like raise an eyebrow at a school. [516.4s] Yes. [516.9s] Yes. [517.3s] One of them is younger and one of them is there [521.3s] like mentor teacher wizard type the figurine disappears [527.2s] for a moment and then reappears on the inside of [529.9s] the class and you both hear announced one Kavlaran [534.3s] Goldweave with questionable purpose for arrival. [538.2s] Shall I let him in? [539.6s] Yes. [540.7s] Yeah. [541.5s] Yeah. [541.9s] Yes. [542.5s] Is this normal? [543.9s] Figuring disappears again and goes back into the [546.2s] hallway and he says you shall pass and the handle [551.2s] releases itself and the door slowly swings open new [555.2s] security measures so no more kids get snatched. [558.4s] I mean would you say you're [559.9s] purpose was just I was coming to see you guys. [562.8s] Okay, so not a very good security system if that's [565.2s] what it is. [566.2s] I that's you just say my buddies in there. [569.9s] Well, I mean like I could hear you guys but I [572.3s] didn't give any names though. [574.1s] So I'm actually kind of surprised it let me [575.9s] in to be fair that it did say that, you know, [581.0s] it wasn't necessarily saying it's saying it's [583.3s] saying questionable purpose, but I guess we [586.1s] could be like go ask questions, but we knew [588.8s] the name. [589.3s] So I want to go over and I want to investigate [592.5s] this knocker. [594.2s] Russ side question. [595.5s] Did I hear how it introduced me to them? [598.2s] Yes, it would have been muffled. [600.2s] But yes, you would have you would have heard [602.4s] it conversing with bizarre and I mean look [605.2s] it's not the first time cabs been introduced [607.0s] that way. [607.4s] So it's fine. [610.7s] You want to go investigate the knocker? [612.0s] Yeah. [612.7s] Okay, you go up to it and roll investigation, [614.7s] please. [615.1s] Is there anything what I guess what hold on [616.8s] before you roll a hard knockers? [619.5s] Thank you. [620.5s] What do you what are you doing? [622.4s] What are you looking for? [623.3s] I'm just going to go see if I can talk to [625.2s] it because it seemed to have a full-on [626.7s] conversation with calf. [629.5s] So sure. [630.7s] What do you say to it? [631.7s] Sup, bro. [632.7s] It remains motionless in front of you. [635.8s] Sure. [636.2s] Can I turn around? [638.1s] Maybe it only talks to adults only talks [643.4s] to middle-aged white men. [644.4s] I don't know. [645.8s] All right. [646.9s] Later. [649.1s] Okay. [649.3s] So the bell rings itself. [651.8s] There's a security thing. [653.3s] That's new tally runs through the door. [656.1s] Alydin. [656.5s] Are you done learning yet? [657.4s] We're playing in the playground and we [658.6s] want to see you do the thing to get that [660.5s] maybe doesn't end up in the top of the [661.9s] flagpole again this time. [665.3s] Gotta know. [668.1s] I look over a bizarre. [669.1s] What are you learning? [669.7s] What are you talking about? [670.3s] What are you doing tally? [671.6s] We have some things to figure out. [673.4s] I appreciate you wanting to preserve [676.0s] Alydin's childhood. [678.1s] I'll make sure that Alydin makes up time [681.2s] later to hang out with y'all. [683.0s] Okay. [683.3s] I overheard you talking about the weird [684.4s] things. [684.6s] Did you tell him about the hall pass that [686.1s] like rewrites itself? [687.8s] Okay, come and sit down and you start [689.4s] talking. [690.4s] Oh, okay. [692.4s] She comes in sits down and she sits in [694.3s] one of the one of the desks which are [696.0s] very school desks with the chair attached [698.7s] to them. [699.0s] She sits in and it creaks like unusually [701.9s] loud and she slaps it that stops it. [706.2s] So yeah, there was this hall pass and [708.9s] I had to a teacher wrote on it that [711.2s] I was going to the washroom and then [713.4s] I got down the hallway and I looked [715.9s] at it and it said I was going to [717.7s] the library. [718.3s] So I went to the library and I got [719.4s] some books instead. [720.8s] You didn't pee in there, did you? [722.5s] No, I didn't pee in the library. [724.9s] Do you pee in the library? [726.3s] No, but you were supposed to go to [727.4s] the bathroom. [728.0s] Did you just hold it from that point on? [729.6s] Yeah, I still am. [732.8s] Tally, it's recess. [733.8s] How long ago was that? [735.0s] A while. [735.6s] Listen to your body girl. [736.5s] Okay, that's not great little dude. [738.2s] Yeah, no, fair. [740.6s] Thanks for saying so. [741.8s] I should probably go to the washroom. [743.4s] But yeah, strange things are happening [745.3s] and she stands up and now that [748.4s] she's paying attention to it, [749.6s] she's got like her legs crossed [751.0s] and she's walking out the door [752.3s] and then the chair begins to [754.1s] groan again and she slaps it [757.9s] every time. [759.3s] Yeah, sorry, yes. [760.1s] Tally, quick question. [761.4s] Did you get distracted or did [763.0s] you straight up forget that you [764.5s] needed to use the bathroom? [769.0s] That's a great question. [771.8s] Yes. [773.4s] Yes. [774.0s] I think I did forget about using [775.9s] the bathroom. [776.9s] Thank you. [777.4s] Go take care of yourself, please. [779.4s] Oh, yes. [779.9s] Okay, I'll be back. [781.4s] Zips out the door. [782.4s] I forgot to use the bathroom. [784.6s] They're an odd one. [785.6s] I kind of like them. [786.4s] It's not the first time. [788.5s] Right, but like I piecing [793.4s] the things together you can you [795.2s] can see the individual parts, [796.6s] right? [797.3s] Oh, yeah. [797.9s] Okay. [798.3s] The school's got fae all over it. [800.8s] Absolutely. [801.4s] I mean, that's a memory changing [806.1s] effect right there. [807.3s] Are we sure she didn't just get [808.5s] distracted? [809.5s] I really don't think it was a [812.3s] distraction because the I feel [816.5s] like your body would still remember [817.9s] it and maybe the potent magic of [822.4s] the fae is so strong to make one [825.1s] forget that they need to use the [826.9s] restroom. [829.3s] Why would they do that? [831.4s] They it's it's chaos. [834.4s] Like think about the chaos. [836.4s] Like imagine if all of a [837.6s] sudden Tally realized it and [840.2s] then was way way nowhere near [842.7s] a bathroom. [845.5s] So people just be pee in [846.9s] their pants all up in this [848.6s] joint and pooping everywhere. [850.7s] I have to say it like that [851.7s] because we're in a school. [852.9s] I mean, I hear you're not cool [854.3s] if you don't pee your pants. [856.0s] That's true. [857.3s] I've heard that as well. [861.1s] Okay, I have not heard that [863.8s] but I will keep that in mind. [867.0s] What what what do we do? [869.3s] What do we what should we is [871.0s] there anything to do about it? [873.4s] Anyone new at the school? [874.6s] Well, there's there's Mr. [876.5s] McBiddle is new and candle is [880.7s] new and Mrs. [883.3s] Felt-Dashian is new. [886.2s] Okay. [888.7s] June's still around, correct? [891.5s] Oh, yes. [892.9s] Nothing would happen without June. [895.4s] Then I think we need to talk to [897.4s] June about where these people [900.8s] came from. [901.7s] Yeah, like what are their [902.8s] credentials? [903.7s] What are their credentials? [905.5s] That's a very good question. [909.5s] Let's go find her. [910.6s] Why would they want to teach [911.9s] in this school? [913.7s] What is their motivation behind [916.7s] getting employed here? [919.0s] What and that's just as [920.2s] just trailing off. [925.1s] Oh chat. [925.8s] Wait, don't call it that. [927.3s] Oh God. [931.6s] We're back with oh chat. [932.9s] We're talking Oreos. [934.4s] Yeah, baby. [937.4s] Yeah, because what's in the middle? [939.7s] The white stuff and us because [941.5s] that's where we are right now. [943.5s] Well done, Kyle. [944.5s] Just what I think Kyle's going [945.7s] to just going to like veer off [947.6s] and bring it back. [948.4s] No, we're just going to go harder [950.4s] into it. [951.7s] You got to go with the weird [952.9s] owl references. [954.0s] It always gets you 100% [956.7s] every time. [957.7s] Well, thanks for being here. [959.0s] No chat. [960.3s] We're glad to have you. [962.3s] I hate it. [963.5s] I know Kyle brought it back to [965.2s] the middle Russ. [965.8s] You didn't need to bring it back [967.1s] back to oh chat. [968.5s] He's just doing what I didn't. [970.2s] Yeah. [972.2s] Now, if you could bring it back [973.2s] to oh town, that would be [975.0s] appreciated. [976.1s] All right. [976.6s] I'll drop in exactly a [978.5s] one and a half second clip. [980.0s] Listen for it. [981.5s] That's oh town. [982.8s] Haven't heard them. [983.6s] There they are. [984.7s] Get them. [986.5s] What are we talking about? [988.9s] Hey, when you join us on [990.8s] Patreon, you get [993.5s] not an Oreo, [994.9s] but you do get some [996.5s] merch after three months, [997.8s] which is a very fun thing [999.8s] that we thought you would [1001.1s] like fun. [1001.9s] It is fun. [1003.0s] Every once in a while [1004.0s] because we get a little [1004.8s] notification saying like, [1006.8s] hey, one of your patrons [1008.1s] is going to get some [1008.8s] merch and I get excited [1011.0s] about it and I have nothing [1012.5s] to do with me. [1013.5s] Yeah, we don't get to be [1014.5s] there when you open the [1015.4s] mail, which is always the [1016.4s] most exciting part of [1017.5s] everybody's week when they [1018.7s] get mail to open. [1020.1s] That's what I found with [1021.1s] Amy being away. [1022.2s] Is there a significantly [1023.9s] less Amazon boxes that [1025.3s] come to me? [1028.5s] Busted. [1029.3s] Nobody's knocked on my [1030.5s] door for a week. [1032.0s] It's been great. [1032.6s] The dogs are bored then. [1033.4s] Undisturbed work. [1035.8s] No distractions. [1037.2s] Well, Russ, [1037.8s] I got to ask because [1038.8s] I'm very curious. [1040.9s] Do the people get to [1041.9s] choose what swag they [1043.7s] get or? [1044.8s] That's a great question. [1046.0s] So when you join us [1047.0s] at the $5 tier, [1049.2s] you get a sticker [1051.8s] It's a nice big glow. [1053.0s] I think it's way too big [1054.5s] for most things. [1058.0s] It's good for a [1058.6s] refrigerator, right? [1060.6s] What I'm looking at [1061.6s] is because you can choose [1062.5s] the size and I'm always [1063.9s] like baker's spanner [1065.7s] always. [1066.9s] So you go for the [1067.5s] largest sticker. [1068.5s] So it takes up like [1069.9s] the back of an iPad, [1071.2s] I would assume. [1072.3s] I guess it's one of [1073.2s] those big ones. [1074.8s] And then our supporting [1076.0s] producers tier, [1077.1s] you get a lovely mug [1079.0s] that has like the [1080.9s] the field scene [1082.4s] that we have where [1083.5s] calves like bent over [1085.1s] like climbing up a mountain. [1088.3s] There's a [1090.2s] the slime off in the [1091.5s] corner that Amy says [1092.5s] looks like a dick. [1093.8s] So there's that too. [1095.5s] You also get an episode [1096.8s] dedicated to you. [1097.7s] Did you know that? [1098.8s] I did know that. [1100.0s] Brand new. [1100.7s] Oh, you knew. [1101.4s] Okay, I knew. [1102.2s] I thought it was new [1103.0s] news. [1104.0s] This is the first [1104.8s] episode you've ever [1105.6s] listened to. [1106.1s] It could be new news. [1107.3s] And hey, welcome. [1108.6s] And if you're starting [1109.4s] right now. [1109.9s] Dip right in at a [1111.1s] totally random number. [1112.5s] I love that for you. [1113.5s] Carla picked up exactly [1114.8s] what I was thinking. [1115.6s] But today's patron is [1117.9s] Lonnie Vogler. [1120.0s] Thanks, Lonnie Vogler. [1121.3s] Thank you so much. [1122.5s] Are you a cartoon? [1123.9s] Not a cartoon character. [1125.1s] Like a [1126.3s] comics character [1128.2s] from 1977. [1130.7s] Because that's a [1131.3s] cool name. [1132.7s] Absolutely. [1133.8s] Lonnie Vogler, [1134.7s] private eye. [1136.6s] Lonnie Vogler from [1137.5s] the Daily Bugle here. [1138.7s] Yeah, right. [1140.6s] Catch the news. [1142.3s] It's me, Lonnie Vogler. [1143.6s] With my hands. [1144.8s] That's how you catch news, [1145.7s] right? [1146.1s] Yes, yes, yes. [1147.3s] Give it to me. [1149.5s] Yes. [1150.8s] Thanks, Lonnie. [1151.6s] Well, thanks, Lonnie. [1152.4s] Thanks, Lonnie. [1153.4s] Join us today at patreon.com [1154.6s] slash dumb dragon cast [1155.8s] and we hope to see you [1156.7s] over there. [1157.3s] And now we'll get you [1158.1s] back to the episode. [1160.2s] Okay, love you. [1160.5s] Bye. [1161.1s] Love you. [1161.4s] Bye. [1161.7s] Bye. [1163.5s] Cut to the front office [1165.0s] where you would expect [1165.9s] to find, [1167.3s] at the very least, June [1168.6s] or any of the other teachers. [1170.0s] And you walk in [1170.9s] in the front reception area [1173.1s] who there would be another [1175.0s] person there. [1176.6s] Ezzie Mae. [1177.9s] She sees you as you [1179.0s] walk in. [1179.6s] Oh, Alydin. [1180.3s] It's a pleasure to see you. [1182.4s] Well, we brought some [1183.2s] friends. [1184.0s] Nice to see you. [1185.6s] Bizarre. [1186.3s] And I'm sorry. [1187.4s] I don't know [1188.4s] your name. [1189.0s] Oh, hi. [1189.6s] I'm I'm Cav [1191.2s] or Cav Lauren, [1192.1s] whatever you prefer. [1194.1s] Nice to meet you, Cav. [1195.2s] We're here for some info [1196.3s] about credenzas. [1197.5s] Maybe you know something. [1199.4s] Credentials. [1200.2s] Oh, sorry. [1201.2s] Credentials. [1202.3s] Yeah, I was going to say [1204.0s] I know of a great credenza place, [1206.2s] but perhaps we can talk [1207.2s] about that later. [1208.4s] Credentials. [1209.0s] Who's credentials [1209.9s] and what inquiry [1211.7s] do you have about them? [1213.1s] Well, we've got [1215.0s] Faldashian. [1217.3s] This is Faldashian. [1218.4s] Yes. [1218.8s] She's a candle. [1221.6s] Candle. [1222.1s] Yes, candle's [1224.5s] a very keen historian. [1227.1s] Okay. [1227.5s] All right. [1227.9s] And then I just [1229.8s] I made a note. [1230.6s] It's just old bitty. [1231.9s] Is that right? [1233.8s] Oh, Mr. [1235.2s] McBiddle is probably [1236.9s] who you're referring to there. [1239.0s] Perfect. [1239.4s] Yes. [1241.3s] Yes. [1241.6s] There are three new instructors. [1243.7s] They came highly recommended. [1246.7s] Recommended by who? [1247.8s] Well, Mr. [1248.4s] McBiddle. [1250.9s] The new acting mayor, [1252.1s] Nina Madonna, [1253.8s] came recommended from her. [1255.8s] We go way back. [1258.0s] Oh, good. [1258.8s] Well, I really enjoy her. [1260.3s] She comes in every now [1261.6s] and again to check up on the students [1263.1s] and see how things are going. [1264.4s] If the funding is adequate. [1266.4s] So Mr. [1266.9s] McBiddle and Mrs. [1268.5s] Faldashian came from Kingstown. [1270.7s] They were educators there [1272.2s] whom [1273.5s] Ms. [1273.8s] Madonna knew very well. [1276.7s] Candle came from [1278.9s] not Kingstown. [1280.0s] Candle came from [1281.4s] another small town [1282.8s] not too far from here, [1284.4s] Roysville. [1286.6s] She was also [1287.8s] looking for a move. [1288.9s] She was an instructor [1289.9s] there in a small school [1291.4s] looking to move up [1292.7s] to a bit of a larger [1294.6s] state. [1294.9s] Came in an interview. [1296.0s] Did very well. [1297.1s] Knows a lot about the [1298.4s] different areas. [1299.3s] Unfortunately, [1300.2s] though, [1300.7s] she's not feeling [1302.0s] well today, [1302.7s] as you probably noticed [1304.0s] in your history class [1305.1s] earlier, [1305.5s] Alydin. [1306.7s] I noticed. [1307.8s] Yes. [1308.1s] So Mr. [1308.6s] McBiddle had to fill in. [1311.7s] He struggles with certain [1313.0s] subjects sometimes, [1314.2s] but [1316.1s] that said, [1316.7s] he's a great administrator, [1318.3s] steps in on math [1319.5s] like nobody's business, [1320.9s] and can read an [1321.9s] okay, [1324.3s] an okay substitute [1325.8s] plan. [1327.1s] He kind of just wings it, [1328.5s] though. [1328.9s] Like, [1329.2s] why do they even do that [1330.4s] work some of the time [1331.6s] when he's filling in? [1332.6s] So in history, [1333.3s] he has a [1333.7s] little bit of trouble. [1338.0s] That's good. [1338.8s] That's good. [1339.4s] A little bit of trouble. [1340.5s] I'm going to write that one down. [1342.5s] And she does. [1344.0s] Title of episode. [1345.6s] A little bit of trouble. [1347.2s] Oh, you, [1349.0s] Kavlar, [1349.5s] you know, [1351.5s] I'm sorry you didn't [1352.7s] necessarily say where you work, [1354.2s] but knowing [1355.7s] Madonna, [1356.2s] do you happen to work [1358.3s] over there, [1359.2s] or at least [1360.7s] go there frequently? [1361.8s] Look, [1362.0s] it's like a little bit of a gray [1363.3s] area at the moment. [1364.6s] I'm not exactly sure. [1365.9s] I think so, [1366.9s] but like last the other day, [1368.6s] I was just like guarding [1369.8s] stuff. [1370.2s] So I don't know. [1371.3s] Yes. [1372.4s] You haven't been fired. [1374.0s] Not to my knowledge. [1376.0s] Oh, [1376.2s] okay. [1376.8s] Well, [1377.0s] we have some paperwork [1378.2s] that I need to get to City Hall. [1380.4s] I just need to get it to City Hall. [1382.1s] I don't need anything done with it. [1383.6s] Okay, [1383.8s] we can probably handle that. [1385.8s] Yes, [1386.5s] it's down in the basement. [1389.0s] There's a basement? [1390.5s] Oh, [1390.8s] yes, [1391.1s] there is a basement. [1392.7s] I mean, [1392.9s] everything's pretty calm up here. [1394.6s] I could just give a hauler out [1395.9s] to June and make sure [1397.7s] she knows that I'm stepping away, [1399.2s] but we could go take a peek [1400.6s] downstairs, [1401.2s] grab that, [1402.2s] and then if you wouldn't mind, [1404.5s] being that you're so connected over there, [1406.4s] if you could take that back to City Hall for me. [1408.6s] I can certainly drop it off for you. [1411.1s] Thank you. [1411.5s] Thank you. [1411.9s] Thank you. [1412.2s] I'm just going to zip out front here. [1413.5s] I let June know that we're headed down [1414.9s] to the basement just in case anybody else shows up. [1417.6s] One moment and she [1419.1s] heads out the front door for disappears [1420.7s] for a second. [1423.1s] Funny that we're actually getting to the bottom [1425.0s] of things here some somehow. [1427.5s] I kind of thought like [1429.6s] she said we a lot. [1432.3s] So I kind of thought she like wanted us [1434.1s] to go with her, [1434.7s] but then not. [1436.8s] Okay, I don't know. [1439.0s] Well, I think we're going to go with her. [1440.4s] I think she's just telling June. [1442.3s] Oh, okay. [1443.2s] Gotcha. [1443.8s] Gotcha. [1444.6s] I can't wait to see the basement. [1446.8s] I wonder what's down there. [1448.3s] Wonder if there are old school records. [1449.9s] I would assume all sorts of fuckery. [1452.2s] You can't say that in school. [1454.0s] She comes back in. [1455.0s] Sorry, [1455.4s] that's a dollar in the swear jar, [1457.8s] but we can head out [1459.6s] head out right away. [1460.9s] Russ, can I roll an insight check? [1463.8s] Sure. [1467.4s] You don't want to pay that fucking dollar. [1468.9s] Is there? [1469.3s] Well, no, I'm fine with paying the dollar. [1473.2s] Look, we just discussed. [1474.2s] I'm maybe on a dollar. [1475.3s] If you can't pay the fine, [1476.6s] don't do the crime. [1478.4s] But no, [1479.2s] I just want to know that like [1481.5s] there's no like underlying like, [1483.9s] ooh, [1484.2s] got to get them to the basement [1485.8s] for something. [1486.9s] Oh, sure. [1487.5s] Yeah. [1487.7s] Roll an insight. [1488.8s] All right. [1490.3s] I mean, [1490.6s] it was a four on the die. [1491.9s] So I'm just going to go ahead [1493.0s] and not even look at what the bonus was. [1494.8s] So, [1495.7s] okay. [1496.4s] We'll say that [1497.5s] being that you [1498.7s] you as the player have suspicions [1501.7s] have [1503.8s] had those suspicions, [1505.1s] but nothing that she's given off [1507.4s] since perhaps obscure paperwork [1510.7s] has come into play [1512.0s] has has really triggered anything. [1514.1s] She seems to know the names of all the people [1516.1s] she needs seems to [1517.4s] you know, [1517.9s] be able to connect a few dots [1519.4s] that make enough sense for you that [1521.9s] everything she's saying seems up and up. [1523.9s] We'll lead the way. [1525.2s] I can't wait to see. [1526.4s] As we're walking, [1527.6s] I'm going to [1529.4s] ask Ezzy. [1529.9s] Ezzy, [1530.9s] where's Royceville? [1532.6s] I'm [1533.8s] not familiar with [1535.9s] where that is. [1537.2s] Royceville is just beyond [1539.0s] the Mee Mountains. [1540.3s] If you go [1541.6s] more down into the south there, [1543.6s] you have to go through some of the forested area. [1546.0s] There is a bit of a [1548.0s] the cowbird swamp. [1550.5s] You have to go through that. [1552.6s] It's a bit of a trek, [1554.3s] but then you make it to this [1555.5s] lovely fielded area [1558.0s] where there's lots of [1559.9s] rare bird species. [1562.1s] It's a lovely region. [1563.6s] A lot of people travel there [1565.0s] just for that reason alone, [1567.5s] but there is a small town there [1569.6s] with a few families [1571.3s] and a very small school. [1573.0s] You're probably not going to find it [1574.9s] on one of like the [1576.4s] the older maps in the school. [1579.2s] It's really just a stopping point [1581.2s] and [1582.6s] well, I mean since a lot of people [1584.1s] have been into birding, [1586.7s] it's [1588.1s] it's really starting to flourish, [1589.8s] but not quite as fast as [1592.0s] as perhaps Candle would have liked [1594.1s] to gain more experience. [1596.0s] I think their goal is to make it to Kingstown [1598.2s] one day. [1598.9s] Good to know. [1599.6s] Good to know. [1601.3s] Thank you. [1601.8s] She leads you down the hall [1603.4s] and out the back [1604.8s] of the school [1606.3s] where there is [1608.2s] a small staircase that goes down [1610.7s] and then there is a [1612.4s] like a double wide cellar door [1614.4s] thinking of like Twister movies [1616.1s] where they pull them open [1618.2s] and she goes in. [1619.2s] I mean every horror movie that has [1621.6s] an exit to the basement ever. [1623.4s] Yeah. [1623.8s] Yeah. [1624.7s] I don't know what you're talking about. [1625.6s] I said Twister movies. [1626.8s] I said tornado natural disaster movies. [1629.2s] Yeah, those were horror movies. [1631.1s] Yeah, I mean that's a horror in their own right. [1633.4s] For those of us scared of nature. [1634.3s] Yeah, fair. [1635.5s] She goes and she pulls one up. [1636.9s] One of you fine gentlemen [1638.0s] wouldn't mind helping me here [1639.4s] just with the other door. [1640.3s] Oh, sure. [1640.7s] Yeah, absolutely. [1641.5s] Little creaky. [1642.4s] Yeah, that's all you can. [1643.9s] I got this. [1645.0s] I feel overlooked. [1646.5s] She she pulls one up. [1649.0s] Slams down. [1649.9s] You pull up the other side [1651.9s] and [1652.9s] she she looks down [1654.4s] and there's a little [1656.5s] shelf with several candles [1658.2s] on it. [1659.2s] She grabs a few and lights them. [1661.7s] Says there's some there's some windows [1663.7s] down there. [1665.2s] But you know, this just helps us [1667.4s] see, you know, all the fine [1669.3s] paperwork that we're looking for. [1671.3s] She lights them for you [1672.8s] and says follow me. [1673.9s] She heads down. [1675.2s] There's a [1676.3s] few steps down into this [1678.0s] into what ends up being [1680.9s] a pretty decently built [1682.4s] more cellar area. [1684.1s] There's a lot of filing cabinets [1685.7s] all down the side [1686.7s] and she starts [1688.9s] pulling. [1690.3s] You know, I stacked it up here on the top. [1692.3s] Just one second here. [1693.9s] She start [1694.8s] filtering through some of the pages. [1697.4s] Don't mind me talk amongst yourselves. [1699.7s] I'll just be just a moment here. [1702.4s] Looking, she's filtering. [1704.0s] This isn't it. [1705.3s] Putting it down. [1705.9s] Maybe June brought it back up and she [1708.3s] off to the side there. [1709.5s] Alydin, what do you think of the basement? [1712.1s] I mean, [1713.7s] it's okay. [1716.1s] It's kind of [1717.7s] I don't know. [1718.1s] I expected it to be maybe a little spookier. [1721.0s] Sure. [1721.4s] Yep. [1722.5s] Well on the mundane side. [1725.0s] You hear her filtering through some pages [1727.6s] and then she's like, [1728.8s] oh, I think I think this is it. [1731.4s] I'm just going to hold the candle here just a little close [1734.1s] and she's walking back over. [1735.5s] Not as you can see her. [1737.1s] She's not really paying attention to where she's walking [1739.6s] and she trips. [1740.8s] The pages fly up into the air. [1744.0s] I'm going to cast control flame to put the candle out. [1748.4s] Good thinking. [1750.4s] Her candle, [1751.6s] I assume it's just her candle you're targeting in that moment. [1754.6s] Her candle snuffs out. [1755.9s] She trips and stumbles. [1757.0s] The pages scatter across the floor. [1759.0s] Oh, no, I'm so sorry. [1760.3s] And she goes to [1762.3s] pick them all up. [1764.9s] Filtering them. [1766.8s] This is this is exactly what just get a moment. [1769.4s] I got a we can organize them perhaps up in the office. [1772.5s] Everybody roll a perception check while we're down here. [1777.7s] Nat 20. [1779.4s] That made up for that one. [1781.8s] 12. [1782.1s] It did. [1783.7s] If only that was an attack roll. [1785.7s] That is going to be a 21. [1788.5s] Kyle, you can just let me have it. [1790.0s] No, I got a natural 19. [1792.1s] I didn't get a natural 20. [1793.1s] I mean your natural 20 still I think is better than that. [1795.9s] Yeah, it's totally better than mine. [1797.4s] What's your perception? [1799.1s] Perception zero. [1801.3s] Okay. [1801.5s] Well, I still think it's better. [1803.7s] Nat 20 is always better. [1805.3s] I perceive. [1806.5s] Yeah. [1807.2s] Some things. [1808.5s] Tell me what I perceive. [1810.9s] As he's picking up the pages bizarre and cab, perhaps [1813.3s] you're helping a little bit. [1814.2s] Alydin you are just filtering through looking at some of [1819.1s] the some of the files that are in there pulling a few [1823.7s] open seeing some names and tossing them back closed. [1827.4s] You get down to one of the far cabinets and you feel [1830.5s] a draft coming through bizarre. [1832.9s] You are clocking Alydin as she's walking back as [1836.0s] you've seemed a little hesitant to be down here, [1839.2s] but you see her like stand like dead still as this [1843.2s] draft hits you and I say hit it doesn't like no. [1847.1s] No, I yeah, no, no, but like it's it's a draft where [1849.8s] there probably shouldn't be a draft. [1852.2s] Well, I get excited because I've been underground [1855.7s] before. [1856.2s] I don't know if you guys know this. [1858.0s] It's a bit of a thing around a couple times. [1860.1s] Yes, and I know that where there's a draft there's [1864.1s] oftentimes a new entry or exit point from the [1870.7s] chamber where you're at right now. [1872.0s] So I want to like follow that draft. [1874.7s] I'm holding out my candle. [1877.4s] I'm seeing the flame flicker flame flickering [1880.1s] back and forth and it goes between two cabinets [1883.2s] that are too tight even for you to fit between [1886.4s] not too tight for you and I bring out Cogsworth [1891.9s] Quackington and I want to get him to waddle on [1898.3s] him be between these two cabinets and kind of [1902.8s] like light it up back there to see what's sure [1905.7s] what's back there. [1907.2s] Okay. [1908.1s] Yeah, you place them down on the ground and [1911.8s] little feet are moving back and illuminates [1914.8s] on the other side. [1915.6s] It's tight enough that the little curve to his [1919.9s] walk that he's got right now isn't like he [1924.4s] walks in a circle, but it's a large circle. [1926.7s] It's a slight limp, right? [1928.0s] You walk in with a limp. [1929.5s] You're going to circle around. [1930.9s] It's kind of like that. [1931.7s] But since there's the two cabinets, it just it [1934.9s] keeps him on the straight narrow there. [1937.1s] So so you just walk forward pink pink pink. [1941.7s] Yeah, a little bit go go. [1943.8s] You can see he gets beyond the cabinets [1946.5s] and like the light beyond illuminates like [1950.0s] a larger space than you'd expect and the [1953.3s] draft stops. [1955.4s] Wait, stop stop. [1958.1s] Come back and it starts backing up. [1962.9s] And then it it no longer has the the guard [1966.1s] rails of the cabinet. [1967.8s] So it like backs up into one of the cabinets [1971.4s] just enough that it like throws it off [1972.9s] kilter and tips over.
