[0.0s] Stop right there. Thank you very much. Dumbgeons and Dragons. We'll be right back in just a touch. [8.0s] It's a couple days after the wedding. Kav, you've boarded a ship and made your way back to [15.6s] Vintersmouth and you're pulling in to the harbor in the evening. It is a relatively calm [23.3s] night. The sun is still setting. It's a beautiful like pinky purple sky. Vintersmouth [29.8s] looking very beautiful. There's a few people walking along the harbor and as the boat pulls [35.3s] into the port and the gangplank comes down onto the harbor, you wave a courteous wave to Gorsh [44.7s] who... Things have cooled between the two of them? I mean he's just been gone a lot. [49.8s] Okay, that's fair. You are making your way. Where are you headed now that you're back? [56.2s] It's not like night time, so you know sleep isn't necessarily first and foremost, [61.8s] but where are you headed? I mean I'm probably going to head to the Brutal Awakening. [67.6s] You make your way over there. There's a bit, the crowd kind of fills out a little bit. [73.6s] The closer you get to it, a little more of that evening post-work vibe. Everybody's [79.0s] looking to cut loose and as you push open the door, the sound of music pours out into the street [86.7s] and light fills the darkening town square. You see several people from the town that you [94.2s] recognize, but primarily your friends, Bonwyn, Bazaar and Alydin, across and they're seated [99.9s] with Alistair. Bench clocks you as soon as you walk in and it says, [105.6s] Cav, you're back! Which pulls all of your attention to the door as you see Cav enter. [115.8s] Cav, first piece you notice is that Bazaar is at this point healing, but still a little black [122.3s] and blue in the face. Cav, you're back! I'm back! It's so nice. Whoa! Bazaar, what [129.5s] happened? Yeah, I got lost down a dark alley. Oh sure, yeah, okay. Bag over my head kind of [142.3s] thing. He got the crap kicked out of him is what happened. You know, I was piecing that [147.8s] together. Yeah, got the good shits kicked out of me. Cool, who'd you piss off? I don't know, [156.5s] but it's led to talking about some kind of weeping archive, some library. Oh yeah, [163.0s] that thing. So, total cool coincidence. My dad's fourth wife was totally talking about [170.9s] the weeping archive and I didn't understand what she was talking about. Huh, no way. It's [177.0s] weird how when you hear about something and then all of a sudden you keep hearing about [181.5s] it everywhere even though you don't ever remember hearing about it before. Yeah, [186.2s] did she have good, like would she tell you? Okay, I remember a bit of it, so I'll just [194.5s] run it past you guys and just first thought, best thought, especially you, sleeping dude, [202.9s] I think you're gonna be probably the most knowledgeable about this. Oh, you're back! It's [208.1s] good to see you again. My Alastair Greaves, lovely to connect again. Oh, sorry, we don't need to do [214.3s] that again, right? No, totally good. Good, good, good, good. Just to catch you up because I [219.8s] didn't realize you were asleep. I thought you were just resting your eyes, but. Oh, [224.6s] were they closed again? Never mind, you go. I was at my dad's wedding. Well, his fifth, [230.2s] anyway, doesn't matter. What was the theme? Fifth time's a charm? Is that a theme? Fifth [237.9s] time's a charm. Yeah, so. Kind of has a ring to it. Like a rusted gold? It was more of a rusted [244.8s] root. That's what they walk down the aisle to? Yeah. Cool. Anyway, his fourth wife. Damn [255.4s] me forgetting that song in my head, Tom. Fuck you. Send me on my way. [261.4s] Dumbgeons and Dragons is a D&D actual play podcast, and I'm your dungeon master Russ More, [266.9s] he, him. Also with me today is Amy More as Alydin, she, her. Well, that's nothing you [271.8s] could bring me. Carla Maxted as Bonwyn Everbane, she, her. The Weeping Archive, [277.4s] presented by Brood Awakening. Tom Laird as Kavlaran Goldweave, he, him. It was like [282.6s] that really cool thing they do in the stories when, like, they drop that last little bit [287.0s] of knowledge as they, like, walk out the room and it rocks your world. And Kyle Claset as [290.8s] Bizard the Wizard, he, him. I got a rabbit in my hat. Dumbgeons and Dragons is a Patreon [295.8s] supported podcast, and we'd love for you to join us today at patreon.com slash dumb [300.7s] dragon cast. You'll get a seven day free trial to check things out. And now let's get right [305.8s] to it. Fuck it. Let's play. Anyway, so yeah, his fourth wife, the lovely lady, Dame Corvilla. [319.4s] She's an interesting one. Anyway, she may or may not be a witch. That's neither here nor there. [326.1s] But she said that at one point in my life, my father had signed a document. [333.9s] And she said, you know, being an older man of a certain. Anyway, he didn't read it, [340.8s] I guess, is the long short of it. And the words did not stay where he put them. [347.6s] They were taken, preserved and filed in the Weeping Archive. So, so. [355.0s] Uh, so, so you, so you have a direct connection to the archive through your lineage? [364.2s] I mean, I don't really know. Maybe. Yeah. Is that what you're saying? [368.1s] Well, I mean, that's what sounds like your fourth step. I don't know if step step mom. [375.5s] Kind of just like one of Cav's ladies. Yeah. Is that what you call all of your father's [383.7s] uh, previous wives is Cav's ladies. They're a whole team. It's the Goldweave girls. [389.4s] Oh, oh, oh, that's fun. That's a cool name. That's a cool name. [393.8s] That'd be a great spinoff podcast of several, several older ladies living together. [400.0s] Putting it out there, not doing it ourselves. I mean, we will eventually. It's probably fine. [405.9s] Well, that's very interesting. Not great, but interesting. [410.5s] Yeah. I mean, not great was my first reaction too. So I'm glad we're on the same page there. [415.4s] Well, maybe it is good. Maybe it's keeping something safe. [420.7s] I mean, it didn't sound like it when she was talking about it. [425.2s] Will it help us find it? Because you can like, [429.8s] sense it. Is that a thing, Alistair? Oh, will his last name be on it? It's filed. [436.1s] It may be in it. I don't know if it will be on it. I don't know if, yeah, no. I mean, [442.8s] from what I know is having there are probably guaranteed many names within the archive [450.1s] throughout however long the archive has existed. Okay. But yeah, placing a name on the archive, [457.0s] like kind of sponsorship rights. I don't know. Well, no, I mean, [461.2s] The Weeping Archive presented by Brood Awakening. [465.2s] And is there a process for learning about this fucking place? Because it seems like [468.5s] you could be at a wedding and get your ass kicked. And I got the raw end of the deal. [476.2s] I guess it depends which way you approach it. And I mean, it sounds like a very lovely [482.3s] wedding. But also, it was all right. It's the fifth wedding. So I guess in the big [488.7s] scheme of things like tomato, tomato. No swag, but open bar. Open bar is good. [496.3s] Well, that's nothing you could bring me. Oh, oh, last thing, too. This is probably [501.4s] the most important because she said it as she had already turned away from me. [506.1s] It was like that really cool thing they do in the stories when they drop that last little [510.4s] bit of knowledge as they walk out the room and it rocks your world. She said that if I [515.7s] ever read my father's name on ink that won't dry, don't touch the page. [525.8s] That sounds very straightforward. Yeah, and like ominous as fuck. [530.4s] Yeah, I was just thinking. Yeah, no, that's. [533.3s] As if you didn't need any more reasons to file things. [536.3s] Oh, tell me about it. Touch paperwork. [538.1s] Where's the open? I need them. What the hell do parents know? [540.7s] Do you want to try it? I open up one of the books. [543.8s] Which book do you open? Open up the one that we were [546.2s] writing stuff in that like we were trying to talk to somebody. [550.8s] The one that was dropping the truth bombs. [553.5s] There was the private shames book and then there was the one that was more. [559.2s] Private shames will never not entertain me. [563.9s] There was the private shames book, which is the one out in the town square that just [569.0s] seemed to generate once somebody looked upon it. [573.7s] The bizarre was writing in that was responding depending on what you put in there. [579.4s] It did show that amorphous ink characteristic. [583.2s] Yes, yes it did. It took the ink that you had written [587.4s] and created the response, be it a sentence or a pictograph. [592.3s] Yeah, yeah. Hold on. [594.3s] Hold on, Kav, was this stepmom, was she nice to you or is she like jealous of you? [603.4s] Oh, no, I did not. Did she offer you an apple? [606.1s] No, no classic. You said she was a witch. [608.1s] No classic witch. Well, I mean, it seems like she's a witch. [611.6s] We had a little convo about it where like I'm pretty sure she's a witch, but [615.4s] she didn't really say she's a witch, but like I think she said it without saying it, you know? [620.3s] Okay, but do you think that she would want to hurt you? [622.8s] Oh, no, I don't think so. She was always pretty cool. [626.8s] I think just, you know, circumstances would like naturally want to pit us against one another, [632.2s] but we've never, it's always been tight. We've been good. [634.9s] Sounds like your dad might be the villain if he's now on his fifth wife. [638.2s] He's 100% the villain. [639.6s] Oh, so I mean, you probably had a united friend against the old man, right? [643.9s] Yeah. I think maybe you [646.3s] should listen to her then. [648.2s] Okay, cool. [649.4s] If it was a word of warning, maybe you should listen to your fourth mom? [655.6s] Well, no, she's like only, okay, it's really complicated. [660.0s] She's the fourth wife. I was the offspring from the third wife. [665.1s] And then the two previous wives are also in my gang, but, you know, we're all cool. [670.5s] It's a gang. [671.0s] So you're the gang leader. [673.4s] You're a ring leader? [674.3s] Oh, no, absolutely not. It is a partnership through and through. [677.8s] Okay. A lot happened at this wedding for you. [681.8s] Oh, yeah. No, it was just real busy time. [684.3s] You see Alistair begin to flip through some pages that are just all over this table [688.7s] and he's pulling stuff out of his bag. [690.2s] I think that reminds me, you see him drift and fall and thud on the table. [696.0s] And as his head hits the table, you begin to hear the town bells ringing outside. [703.4s] That's probably a bad sign, right? [706.0s] I'm really tired of those bells. [708.7s] Me too. [711.0s] I guess let's go see. [714.2s] Everybody in, not just you, but everybody in The Brutal Awakening gets up and heads outside. [719.8s] Except for Alistair? [721.0s] Except for Alistair. [721.9s] Do we put him in the recovery position before we go so he doesn't, like, [726.4s] I don't know, choke on his vomit or something? [729.4s] You head out into the street after preparing Alistair in the fetal position [733.7s] and you hear the bells ringing and you look over. [739.8s] They're town alarm bells. You've heard them as the monsters were attacking. [743.8s] You've heard them several times in the past before. [746.7s] There's one down at the harbour. There's one over near City Hall [751.4s] and there are a couple more kind of space throughout the city. [754.3s] And as you look around the corner and you can see the one at the harbour, [758.3s] as you look, something is off about it. [761.9s] Like, as it moves from one side to the other, it is ringing out of sync. [770.5s] And as you look at the street signs and the signs of the shops all around you, [776.3s] the written words that you see begin to bleed ink, [780.1s] like they're running from the signs themselves down onto the ground, [786.7s] being seeped into the ground itself. [790.0s] You hear screams from closer to City Hall, the more noble side of town, [798.9s] which has been greatly reduced in terms of its status and stature [804.4s] since Nina has taken over. [806.5s] That side has been less referred to as the rich side of town [811.9s] because they're trying to make it a little more equal. [814.6s] But you hear screams from that side. [816.1s] You hear people rushing to and from. [818.0s] You see town guard and you hear the sound of grinding stone [821.7s] at a distance across the river. [823.8s] But you can hear it above the sound of the river rushing by. [829.7s] Something terrible, right? [833.1s] Something terrible. [834.9s] I mean, it's usually always something terrible. [836.9s] Should we go get armed and then go check it out? [840.3s] Do y'all notice the bell? [842.1s] Yeah. [843.0s] Is there anything else out of sync to y'all? [845.4s] Do y'all notice any other sounds that are going on in people's footsteps? [850.2s] I'm going to check around and see if anything else is affecting perception. [855.1s] Are people talking like in dubbed movies? [859.0s] Yes. [860.1s] I did a good visual gag, everyone. [862.1s] Yeah, it was good. [864.2s] Nailed it. [865.8s] Yeah, as you look around, so the bells are very clearly that. [868.7s] If you want to roll, I mean, perception probably is the best one to pick. [876.1s] I'm going to roll. [877.0s] It was bad. [878.4s] It was a nat 20. [879.9s] Oh my god. [880.8s] I'm not even going to roll then. [882.3s] I feel like we only rolled once last week and it was a 19 for you. [885.9s] Maybe I should only roll once, so I really need to pick my moments now. [890.5s] I got a 10. [891.1s] Damn it. [892.6s] I got a five. [893.7s] I don't see shit. [895.0s] I'm very observant. [896.0s] Oh, I wasn't even going to because Amy... [898.5s] Oh, I also got a five, so. [901.9s] Cav, good to see you again. [904.6s] Cav and Bazaar, your attention is drawn back. [907.8s] The Brewed Awakening door like bursts open and as you look over to it, [912.6s] like Alistair's stumbling out, like he just woke up. [916.5s] He's looking around and you kind of go over to him, [919.5s] which is drawing your attention right now to make sure he doesn't fall down into the street. [925.0s] Bonwyn and Alydin, you're looking around at Bazaar's kind of prompt [930.0s] and you're watching footsteps run by and they are slightly out of sync. [934.4s] Not quite as clear as the belt, but they are slightly out of sync. [938.5s] You see someone call to one of their loved ones across the way [946.0s] and it is also there's like this reverberating like [951.8s] tunnel effect that is happening when shouldn't be. [955.1s] You're not that far from these people. [957.6s] Are your ears not hearing things at the right time? [961.8s] Yes. [963.5s] Yes, things are, I don't know, out of sync, out of time. [969.3s] Am I getting like fae vibes? [973.8s] Welcome to the middle. [974.9s] Hey. [975.9s] How's it all going? [976.7s] Oh, you're okay? [977.4s] Yeah, no, I'm good. [978.2s] Our dog smells real bad. [979.4s] It's just hit me real hard. [980.5s] Yeah, I saw. [981.6s] I said, welcome. [982.6s] I thought maybe like the microphone jumped at you. [985.4s] I guess that's out of the corner of my eye. [987.0s] I didn't see. [987.6s] No, it's just that middle microphone's not an issue. [992.4s] It's that middle stank just coming up. [994.3s] Thanks for being here. [995.9s] Yeah, good times. [998.4s] Yes, thank you for being here and listening to us. [1001.1s] We would love and appreciate you and hope you're having a great, great day. [1005.3s] Super awesome day. [1006.3s] Yeah. [1041.2s] You can. [1042.2s] Yeah, it's a great gift. [1075.9s] And the color of your energy. [1079.4s] What color is Amber's energy? [1081.9s] Amber is the color of your energy. [1083.6s] So say a 311. [1084.7s] Amber's their own energy. [1092.3s] You can be like Amber. [1093.4s] And hey, we do these sales, you know, to give you a chance to join the community [1098.8s] at a discounted rate, obviously. [1110.3s] But what I do wish and hope for for Carla's birthday, [1115.0s] is that we are so close to a hundred patrons. [1119.8s] And we've been like skimming that number for a very long time, which I'm fine with. [1123.8s] I just wanted to let you know that you could be the one to help push us over [1127.8s] a hundred patrons this month. [1129.7s] Can we shout that person out if we do end up getting pushed over by that one person? [1134.7s] Yeah, absolutely. [1136.2s] Whoever is the hundredth person will get a special hundredth person shout out [1141.2s] for when we do. [1143.1s] We're very close. [1144.4s] I don't have the exact number right off the top of my head, but it's within five people. [1150.0s] Guaranteed. [1151.3s] So like it's not out of reach. [1153.4s] And we would love and appreciate you being a part of the community. [1157.5s] It's a great time. [1158.3s] Just ask Jess. [1160.7s] She's looking at us like she doesn't usually get called out. [1163.4s] There's thumbs up. [1164.3s] Two thumbs up. [1165.4s] We love it. [1165.9s] There we go. [1166.9s] Patreon.com slash dumpdragoncast until the end of February, 2026. [1172.1s] We got this great sale going on. [1173.4s] Hopefully you can take advantage of that over there. [1177.0s] And now let's get you back to the episode. [1179.3s] Heck yeah. [1179.8s] What episode? [1181.0s] A great one. [1182.6s] This one. [1183.0s] This. [1183.4s] This one. [1184.5s] Okay. [1184.8s] Love you. [1185.2s] Bye. [1185.4s] Love you. [1185.8s] Bye. [1190.7s] Am I getting like fae vibes? [1192.6s] Yeah. [1192.9s] You don't even need to roll for that. [1194.2s] Like I experienced weird shit in the house. [1196.6s] You experienced weird shit. [1197.4s] And like this is like there are certain connections. [1200.6s] It may not be exactly the same thing, but like. [1203.0s] It's a vibe. [1203.7s] It's the vibe. [1204.6s] Everything that's been happening in town, like this is clearly an escalation of that. [1208.7s] And as you, as Bazaar and Kav collect Alastair and bring him over, [1214.0s] he's looking around like his eyes are wide. [1216.5s] He's watching the signs and like pointing at things and like trying to like [1221.7s] make sense of the sound. [1223.0s] And he says it's, this isn't a bleed through anymore. [1227.3s] Like this, he checks a page in his book and he's like filtering through them. [1232.2s] I think this is, I think this is the archive indexing. [1235.6s] What? [1236.2s] What does that mean? [1237.8s] Well, when the archive is taking record, strange, strange occurrences happen [1245.8s] in the town or area where that's happening. [1249.4s] What else, what else have you heard? [1251.6s] Like the bells are going. [1254.2s] Same with the voices. [1255.1s] The voices and the steps are not quite. [1258.8s] Yes. [1259.4s] Okay. [1260.2s] We have to find. [1261.0s] You know, all the bleeding words also is, is also. [1264.0s] No. [1264.6s] Yeah. [1264.9s] We have to find where it's, where it, where's the, where the point is, [1268.2s] where the point of where it started is. [1270.6s] Oh, there was some screaming, so it's probably near that. [1273.5s] That's probably a good idea to go there. [1276.2s] What happens when something is indexed? [1279.4s] Usually it's whatever is being indexed is, is cataloged. [1287.1s] Sometimes there's a physical detraction from the world. [1292.5s] Something is taken and archived. [1295.4s] Other times, just the words or the sentiments [1298.6s] of the things happening in this town are taken and archived. [1302.5s] So is somebody writing down a story of something [1305.4s] happening right now in Vindersmith and it is being. [1311.2s] Something has, has, has broken through and. [1315.8s] It's like sucking us into the archive. [1318.2s] And it's recording our experiences for who? [1321.6s] For the truth. [1322.9s] Is that a title or a. [1326.0s] For. [1326.4s] The concept of the truth. [1327.9s] For its concept of the truth. [1329.8s] For. [1331.3s] For its knowledge. [1333.0s] The archive it. [1334.5s] For it. [1336.2s] Well, I don't know. [1337.6s] There's no record of somebody controlling the archive. [1340.9s] Like powers greater than anything that I can comprehend [1346.2s] or have come across. [1347.8s] Similar to an objective. [1350.2s] Objective entity. [1353.8s] Yes. [1355.8s] It doesn't really matter what's going on. [1358.3s] They're just an eye viewing. [1361.2s] Yes. [1361.8s] Yes. [1362.6s] Yes, that's it. [1364.7s] But. [1365.0s] But if it's happening now, [1366.6s] it could mean that there's an entrance nearby. [1369.3s] What about where that book showed up? [1371.8s] Oh wait, we're like there. [1373.5s] Yeah, you turn to the left. [1376.2s] Is it that? [1377.3s] It's not there. [1377.9s] Is the book there? [1379.0s] Do you hear that sound of grinding stone rise above the calls [1383.3s] and the bells on the other side of town? [1385.5s] Well, the action's that way. [1387.6s] It certainly is. [1388.6s] Yeah, it certainly is. [1389.7s] Let's arm up, mount up. [1392.4s] Get my steed. [1393.8s] She turns and looks at Bazaar. [1397.0s] It's a joke. [1398.5s] Cav, did you bring Alydin a pony from your dad's wedding? [1402.4s] I mean, we only got one to keep for ourselves. [1405.4s] Is that the swag? [1406.6s] It's a slow ride home. [1408.2s] It's not a fifth wedding swag gift, I'm afraid. [1411.4s] No, all I know is. [1412.2s] We should probably go help those people, huh? [1413.6s] Okay, so you each independently had to get, I guess, weapons? [1419.2s] Or do you go to Bonwyns to get, say arm up? [1422.2s] I was thinking, I was thinking everbanes, [1425.0s] but obviously that's where I would go. [1426.8s] But it is where all the weapons are. [1428.4s] Not all the weapons, but. [1430.0s] All the best weapons. [1431.4s] Many weapons. [1433.6s] But yeah, I guess everybody could have their own stuff [1436.2s] at their own place. [1437.9s] I assume we probably, like at this point in our lives, [1441.9s] remain somewhat armed at all times, [1444.8s] unlike before things started to go fricking nuts. [1448.0s] But this is like, we're heading into it. [1450.4s] So we got to get the, you know. [1453.5s] You need the duffel bags full of guns from the Matrix. [1456.9s] Exactly. [1457.5s] Gotcha. [1458.7s] Yeah. [1459.9s] Okay, so you take a moment. [1462.3s] You get to your things that you don't have. [1464.2s] Cav, you just got off a boat. [1465.4s] So like likely. [1466.3s] You're at a wedding, you're fully armed. [1468.0s] The majority. [1469.1s] Yep, particularly going into the hot spot [1471.6s] that was your father's fifth wedding. [1474.2s] You need shield and hammer. [1475.6s] Absolutely. [1476.2s] To be able to walk out of it. [1479.0s] You didn't know what was going to be asked. [1481.1s] Could have been anything. [1481.8s] As not best man, then best man, [1483.9s] and then not best mannequin. [1485.3s] That's right. [1486.2s] We cut across the river to the fountain outside of City Hall. [1492.8s] Previously a large monument to Mayor Knopps [1497.3s] now turned back into more of a modest fountain. [1501.1s] But what you see before you is no longer a fountain. [1504.5s] Out of the earth, a stone doorway has formed. [1509.0s] And it's fine. [1509.9s] The final keystone pieces are being moved by some unseen entity [1517.8s] or something, some force, placing them into position. [1521.8s] The doorway itself is this deep red oak [1527.4s] with these metal strappings across it. [1529.8s] It has this large globe for a handle. [1533.9s] People have run and fled and there are some guards [1538.2s] putting position around it, [1540.1s] trying to keep people away from it as you come up to it. [1543.8s] And Alistair looks and says, [1545.3s] this, I was down here the other day. [1548.1s] This wasn't here. [1549.0s] Tell me this wasn't here. [1551.4s] This is new. [1552.2s] This is new. [1553.0s] This is new. [1553.7s] Definitely, definitely new. [1554.7s] Is the screaming rust just because the, you know, [1559.8s] cobbles are moving and forming a door or people? [1562.5s] It appears now that you're on this side, [1565.1s] like shock and surprise. [1567.3s] More than somebody's being attacked. [1569.2s] Okay. Sure. [1570.4s] Well, that's something. [1571.6s] Bizarre, as you step closer to this, [1576.8s] something in your pocket begins to move. [1583.4s] Someone play hide the vibrator in somebody else's pants, [1587.0s] turn it on remotely at security check out. [1591.2s] And it's in an inside pocket and you reach in [1602.7s] and you remember immediately what it is. [1604.7s] Worse. [1605.2s] It's not better. [1606.7s] It's a vibrator. [1607.7s] I knew it. [1609.6s] You grab hold of the spool of thread that you found [1614.0s] floating in your store after you returned from the Fae. [1619.4s] It is the thread on the spool appears to be spinning [1625.4s] quite rapidly around this wooden spool [1628.7s] and it is developing this cold feeling to it, [1634.3s] which intensifies the closer you get to this door. [1637.3s] Okay. [1638.1s] So it's a spool of thread that's starting to like [1641.4s] unwind and starting to feel a little cold? [1644.2s] Not even unwinding, just like the thread itself [1649.2s] remains on the spool, but is like spinning around [1653.4s] while you hold the wooden portion of it. [1657.7s] Okay. [1658.9s] This hasn't happened before. [1660.4s] Nothing has really happened. [1661.6s] Aside from floating in front of you, [1663.6s] I don't know how much time you spent identifying [1666.2s] or doing anything with it. [1667.8s] We can retcon some of that if you'd like, [1670.2s] but it hasn't done anything since then. [1673.2s] Yeah. [1673.8s] Um, so I assume I've let it go [1677.0s] and it still floats in the air. [1679.6s] So with it spinning and it being that close, [1681.9s] I pull it out and I hold it there [1683.9s] and as it gets cold, I release it just out of instinct [1689.6s] and see what happens. [1692.3s] It floats in front of you as kind of the chaos dies down. [1697.9s] Guards get a little bit of the crowd under control [1701.0s] and move people away. [1702.7s] Um, Alydin, you're first to pick up on it, [1705.5s] but everybody else hears it. [1708.3s] The spool begins to hum a bit of a song. [1715.1s] What does it sound like, Russ? [1716.7s] Uh, it is, uh, no. [1725.4s] No. [1726.3s] No. [1728.1s] Um, you- [1729.3s] Juge. [1730.4s] You hear it though, and it instantly transports you, Alydin, [1737.8s] back to the Banjo Man's house. [1741.2s] Is this because I asked you to hum it? [1744.9s] Doesn't transport you, [1746.0s] but like that's where it places you, mentally. [1748.6s] Oh, mentally, okay. [1750.0s] Yeah, like you aren't gone, but like transports you- [1753.6s] I'm like, you dick, it was a joke. [1755.2s] Mind. [1755.7s] You don't hum to anything. [1756.8s] We have a brief cut scene where you're like [1758.8s] picturing yourself back in the house, [1760.4s] like this song- [1761.2s] I'm having a flashback. [1762.7s] Yeah. [1763.2s] Wasn't the primary song that kind of lingered throughout, [1767.0s] but it was something that wove itself through your time there. [1771.9s] And everybody else hears this song, [1773.5s] you can't place it necessarily, [1775.0s] you didn't spend as much time in that space as Alydin did. [1780.0s] That, that's, it's not the song that the box made, right? [1785.6s] No, no, it's not that song. [1787.3s] There's so many songs. [1789.0s] I know. [1790.2s] Same artist, different track. [1792.0s] Oh, okay, yeah, yeah. [1794.5s] I've heard, I've heard this before. [1798.5s] Where? [1799.5s] Um, at the, at my, at the, the banjo man's house. [1807.7s] Oh, I'm sorry. [1810.4s] That must be upsetting to hear. [1812.4s] Yeah. [1813.2s] I grab it, try to get the humming to stop. [1816.4s] Gets louder. [1818.0s] It amplifies in your hand like a Kleenex box. [1823.4s] No, you grab it, you may, like, [1825.5s] as you grab it and like pull it close to you, [1828.2s] it slows it's spinning, [1830.6s] it still has that cold feeling to it [1832.8s] and just kind of, you hear it faintly, [1835.6s] but it definitely dissipates as you, [1838.2s] as you place it back into your pocket. [1840.8s] But you can still feel it moving, [1843.4s] like trying to pull itself towards the door. [1846.6s] When it was floating, was it, [1849.2s] was it moving towards the door or was it staying? [1851.6s] It was staying, yeah, staying stationary. [1854.0s] So with it, like, I'll, like, [1856.4s] I have it in the pocket in my, in my jacket [1859.4s] and I'm going to put my hand over it and hold it [1861.6s] as if I'm holding it over the coat [1863.4s] and then I'm going to walk towards the door [1865.3s] and see if it still reacts or still gives off, [1868.8s] to see what the reaction is. [1870.6s] This thing needs to be in front of it. [1872.3s] Yeah, the closer you get, [1873.5s] the colder it feels through, through your jacket. [1876.9s] You can feel the threads, like, winding [1879.9s] and where, like, friction should dictate, [1882.3s] like, this should be starting a fire in your jacket. [1884.9s] Like, everything is, like, even frosty around this piece [1890.8s] and as you get within a few feet, it stops. [1895.4s] Okay. [1896.5s] The orb on the door, while I'm holding it, [1899.6s] I'm going to take a quick look at the orb on the door [1903.1s] and see if there's anything that would lead me [1905.6s] to believe I could use this thread on this orb. [1909.7s] Make an investigation roll. [1912.1s] Okey dokey. [1913.2s] Hell yeah, another five. [1916.8s] What do you do to investigate the door? [1919.0s] You know, I'm standing, like, probably a couple feet from it. [1923.0s] I'd probably give it a once-over with my eyes [1926.9s] and then pull out my sword [1929.0s] and see if it spins or has any kind of motion to it. [1936.0s] And I think that's about the extent [1937.5s] of what I'd try to accomplish with it to see, [1940.8s] is there more than one side to this orb [1943.0s] or is it just the face that I'm seeing? [1945.8s] Is it tidally locked? [1949.7s] Okay, yeah, I see what you're saying. [1951.7s] So yeah, you pull out your sword, [1954.8s] you even take a half step closer to it [1957.6s] and as you're examining it, [1960.0s] everybody else is kind of crowding in around you [1962.6s] so they too can see. [1964.0s] But as you take that half step [1966.2s] and make even the slightest movement towards it, [1968.9s] you see the door turn and, like, unlatch [1973.7s] and it slowly creaks open [1976.3s] and you see a darkness pour out of it. [1981.2s] Until after just a brief moment, [1983.6s] from somewhere within this recess, [1988.1s] there's the faint light of a torch [1992.6s] that starts to bleed through this darkness.
