[0.0s] Dumbgeons and Dragons will begin in a moment. [7.4s] The air in this space is shaking. You can feel waves emanating off of the banjo man. You hear [17.0s] all of these memories shattering all around you. Kavin, Bonwyn, you've just docked at this memory [25.0s] of Calder's where Bizard and... We've cut the engine and we've sidled right up. That's right, [31.2s] where Bizard and Alydin are inside. There are horrors climbing up onto your platform [37.1s] and all around this memory. Alydin, you look out and you see them. You see the two notes [42.2s] that they have. You and Bizard are inside of this memory where there's still no real [47.4s] acknowledgement from the Calder that's in here to you. What do you do? [53.8s] I think I'm going to go over to the edge and say, [60.7s] Bonwyn, maybe we need them all in here. I'm going to so very slowly and gently put my hand [68.0s] through the barrier. I don't want to break it. Please, God, don't break. [74.4s] It feels like you're reaching through marbles as your hand goes through it. [81.4s] I like marbles. I think I would like that sensory experience. I'm thinking right now, [85.8s] that sounds great. I'm like, well, that seems nice, kind of like cool and smooth. [89.4s] It's like a small ball pit. For your hand. For your hand, yeah. [93.8s] You extend your hand out. Bonwyn, you are next. We can do these kind of [99.8s] at the same time. So yeah, Alydin reaches through and a hand out. You see horrors now. [106.5s] They too see that the hand is coming out. It looks like they're moving quickly towards Alydin. [113.3s] Alydin snaps fingers. [117.9s] Oh, I was going to say, I assume Alydin's going for a high five. [120.7s] So I reach up. [121.7s] No. Now is not the time. [124.9s] And the memory breaks and everyone's dead. [127.7s] Dumbgeons and Dragons is a D&D actual play podcast and I'm your dungeon master, [133.3s] he, him. Also with me today is Amy More as Alydin, she, her. [137.2s] I just had a terrible moment that if I opened it up, maybe I would see myself inside of it. [141.0s] Carla Maxted as Bonwyn Everbane, she, her. [144.0s] Obviously you guys, I didn't say it, but I was creating a lasso with my rope this whole time. [148.9s] Tom Laird as Kavlaran Goldweave, he, him. [151.7s] With arms wide open. [154.0s] And Kyle Claset as Bazaar the Wizard, he, him. [157.0s] You just need to place them just like that. [159.8s] Dumbgeons and Dragons is a Patreon supported podcast and we'd love for you to join us over [164.4s] at patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast right now when you sign up, you'll get a seven day [169.0s] free trial and instant access to so many amazing bonus episodes, more of what you love. [175.0s] Come find it today at patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [178.6s] And now fuck it. [179.8s] Let's play. [180.5s] I will try Drew. [184.9s] I will try to put the notes in her hand. [191.6s] Okay. [192.6s] I mean, they're like notes with like the, there's like a skinny part. [195.4s] Yeah. [195.8s] Yeah, I'm thinking like, I can carry you so many wine glasses in one hand. [200.1s] Exactly. [200.6s] Yeah. [201.2s] Exactly. [201.8s] Alydin, you feel the notes enter your palm and clasp them, pull them back through, [208.2s] I assume. [209.0s] So slowly. [210.1s] So slowly, gently. [213.4s] Make a dexterity saving throw, please. [219.4s] Bonwyn, you do so as well. [222.2s] 13. [223.6s] 16. [224.2s] Alydin, you feel resistance as it's hard to see, but you see one of these shadowy [227.8s] creatures trying to grasp onto the music note itself. [231.7s] Bonwyn, what do you do in response to that? [236.4s] Oh, I'm going to hit it. [237.5s] Okay. [238.4s] That's your creature, not the memory. [240.2s] Of course. [240.8s] Yeah. [241.1s] Okay. [242.7s] Well, your dice will decide that, I guess, Bonwyn. [244.9s] Yeah, right. [246.8s] Roll damage. [247.4s] We'll say that success comes from the saving throw that you just did. [250.4s] Roll damage. [251.8s] Okay. [255.3s] So that is eight damage. [261.9s] You stab into it and it lifts its head and lets out this shrill scream as [267.8s] its arm fractures off. [270.3s] Dramatic. [271.2s] And this one disappears into the darkness, so now you quickly pull your hand back in. [276.9s] And as you do so, as these two notes enter this space, there is a... [284.9s] Explosion's not the right word to use right now. [287.0s] There's a burst of energy that both you and Bizard feel in this space, [292.4s] and it begins to brighten a little bit. [298.1s] Alydin turns to Bizard and is like, eh, waving. [306.2s] The whores outside are swarming this memory. [311.4s] They're hitting at it. [312.4s] They're biting at it. [313.5s] And we are just hoping that Bonwyn and Cav can help us. [319.8s] These creatures are no longer even remotely paying attention to you, Bonwyn or Cav. [325.8s] They are completely engulfing and swarming this memory, which it sounds like something [332.0s] is like crushing down, like you're inside of a can and it's being crushed from the outside. [338.8s] Bizard, it's your turn. [341.1s] So there are four notes. [343.1s] There's a distinguished environmental change as these notes came into this place. [349.4s] What do you want to do? [350.0s] Does it have a monocle? [351.0s] How distinguished is it? [351.8s] Oh my god, Amy, I was just going to say the same thing, [353.8s] but I was waiting to see if there was a pause because they didn't want to interrupt him. [357.6s] I was like, suddenly everyone's wearing a top hat. [362.5s] Tuxedos abound. [365.0s] Bow ties. [366.0s] From my experience with illusion magic, [370.4s] would this change make it seem like something went from being ethereal to tangible? [375.3s] I guess in a sense. [379.1s] Okay, I'm going to try to just reach out and place my hand on Calder's shoulder. [383.8s] That's nice, I would have slapped a bitch. [385.4s] Yeah, you reach out and you touch him and for the first time in this space, [389.7s] like you feel that he is solid and there. [394.4s] As you touch him, he still does not acknowledge you though. [398.2s] Rude. [399.2s] Okay. [399.8s] You see these four notes, the two that you already had, two that are in Alydin's hand, [407.0s] and you look down at, oh and the music box. [411.3s] Can't forget the music box is in there too. [414.2s] Playing its tune over and over again. [418.7s] Make an insight or intelligence check, please. [425.3s] Okay, try this again. [430.8s] That's a 10. [431.6s] With Alydin's assistance, maybe you roll with advantage. [435.9s] You got this. [436.5s] You're both thinking about it very hard. [439.0s] That's a 18. [442.2s] So with these four notes in place, with your ability to sense and feel Calder in this space, [450.6s] you see the notes now. [455.0s] Maybe it's your musical training, maybe it's just you've gone completely insane [461.1s] and this place has taken your mind, but the notes begin to arrange themselves for you. [466.8s] You see, you hear the loop of the music that's been playing constantly [473.0s] and you see the notes that you have in front of you and you are able to see a pattern [480.5s] in how the music's playing and the notes that you have in this space. [486.2s] I begin to arrange the notes, turning back and I say, [490.1s] Alydin, I think I know how the notes go. [492.4s] You just need to place them just like that. [498.6s] They're like teasing us there. [501.0s] And Alydin was like, oh, thank God, okay. [505.6s] And as you place them and as you hear the loop get to the point where it starts, [511.5s] you know, it hits the repeat and it goes back, [514.7s] it begins to play the notes that you have in front of you. [520.6s] The correct melody plays and the last one sustains [525.1s] and everything around you begins to shake violently. [531.6s] Calder in this memory looks like he's having a eureka moment. [539.7s] He gets up and you see, you see on the page, [543.2s] which he's been writing and crumpling and writing and crumpling, [546.6s] he's finished whatever this song is. [549.8s] And as this correct melody plays, everything trembles. [555.0s] You turn and look back out and you see the horrors backing off and away. [560.6s] And through the darkness, you see the banjo man clutching his head [565.2s] and screaming as cracks are racing across his body. [570.3s] No, no, I just wanted to fix it to mend the song and make it whole. [576.7s] And his form begins to dissolve. [580.2s] The strings of his being snapped one by one like a broken instrument. [585.4s] The floating fragments of reality begin to wither into dust. [589.9s] Everything in this memory, you feel closing in on you. [596.6s] I grab Alydin and jump out of it. [599.4s] Make an acrobatics or athletics check, please. [603.6s] Yes. Yes, I will attempt that. [609.4s] That's a seven. Take a picture. [612.4s] Okay. Send it to Jess. [615.0s] Do I need to make one? Or did he just pull me into the abyss? [621.9s] I didn't agree to this, but okay. I know, I know. [624.9s] I assume, I mean, obviously you guys, I didn't say it, [627.9s] but I was creating a lasso with my rope this whole time on the other. [633.8s] Very Wonder Woman-esque, of course. [635.4s] You know, just like you do. [636.7s] There's a little downtime, right? [638.3s] Sure. [639.3s] Cav and I are just like, what's going on in there? [641.8s] How you doing? [642.5s] From the outside, Bonwyn and Cav, you see, [646.7s] you feel this wave and you turn and you see the same thing from the banjo man. [650.5s] You look back and you see Bazaard grab Alydin and run and jump. [655.5s] And it's, as they do, they come out of the memory [659.7s] and it's like now they're floating. [662.6s] They're unable to come back down towards the platform that you are on. [667.9s] Cav, you're up next. What do you do? [670.6s] Breaks out to define gravity. [675.1s] I like floating so much better than falling. [677.6s] So like, okay. [680.1s] But also like in space, that is terrifying. [682.6s] Oh, so terrifying, but you know. [685.1s] I guess just like try to ready myself for whatever's going to happen with this. [692.2s] Breaking situation. [694.1s] Like you'd sing Creed, open arms and open your arms. [697.5s] Catch them with arms wide open. [700.6s] Like when we say we've come out and are floating away. [704.7s] How far away are we from them? [707.8s] Well, you were like right side by side. [709.8s] So like, yeah, we were right beside and you're like going upwards. [713.4s] You're on an upwards trajectory. [715.5s] Okay. [716.1s] Yeah, but like not reachable by me. [719.1s] What's your vert? [720.8s] Yeah. [721.7s] Oh, we know what the vert is because there's a high jump. [725.1s] Oh, there's a high jump. [726.7s] There's actually a mechanic for that in this game. [728.8s] I have learned. [729.4s] I thought jumping was just kind of like a... [731.0s] It's equal to three plus your strength modifier. [733.4s] Uh, high jump. [735.0s] Not without some assistance unless you have a sweet vert. [739.4s] I mean, I think I have an okay vert. [742.6s] It's not like overly great. [744.1s] Can you run towards me and I'll like oof you up. [747.7s] Love it. [748.2s] Yeah, sure. [749.3s] Love it. [749.7s] Okay. [749.9s] So you're going to run and... [751.6s] I'm sturdy. [752.5s] Like I can crouch down. [753.8s] Oh, and you're strong too because you do it. [755.6s] Exactly. [756.5s] Right? [758.2s] I tell Bonwyn, just like that night at the Quivering Hills dance party. [766.6s] We did a bit of a thing. [767.9s] It was quite impressive. [774.1s] Welcome to the middle, everybody. [775.8s] Oh, buddy. [776.5s] Oh, Russ. [778.0s] Oh, little Muppet Russ. [779.5s] Oh, that was great. [781.6s] It's exactly what I was hoping it would be. [784.9s] Welcome to the middle, everybody. [786.7s] Welcome to the middle. [787.7s] Mostly maybe Kyle and I will just talk because as you heard Russ, he can't really talk. [791.8s] Also, it's the middle of the day. [793.1s] So like I feel like there's going to be some weird energy. [795.9s] Yeah, yeah. [796.6s] It's like the middle-est middle. [798.4s] Middle-est middle of the day instead of evening when we normally record these. [803.0s] Yeah, yeah. [803.5s] We've had the day to get through. [804.9s] We're warmed up. [805.8s] Ready to kind of cool down. [807.6s] We'd be chilling with our people and, you know, playing D&D. [811.3s] But we're here now. [813.2s] We're going to do this damn thing. [814.8s] And right before we started recording, I started bullying Kyle. [819.6s] And I'm going to continue that because I thought it would be fun. [823.7s] We always talk about, oh, we have this whole other game over on Patreon. [826.8s] But if you don't have Patreon, you don't get to listen to it. [829.5s] We tell you Tom runs it. [831.0s] And he is a very easy, breezy DM. [833.5s] Very true. [834.1s] Yes, he is. [834.5s] Yes. [836.2s] But we never really talk about who we play. [838.8s] And since Kyle is like the newest character over there and his character rules, [844.2s] I thought maybe he could tell us a little bit about him. [847.4s] Yeah. [848.0s] So Nash Salmon Treats. [851.2s] He's a swashbuckling rogue ancestral guardian barbarian. [857.9s] So that's the multiclass that he's playing. [860.0s] But he's a lion or a leon, however you pronounce that. [864.6s] And he is named after his favorite treat. [868.0s] It's part of his group's naming convention is that once you become the age of a warrior, [874.0s] you name yourself after the favorite treats. [876.1s] And my name's Nash Salmon Treats because that's what I do, yo. [879.2s] So wait, is everybody in your group, is it like duck treats or is it like Oreo cookies? [888.8s] Yeah. [889.3s] Yeah? [889.8s] Yeah. [890.1s] It's just whatever. [891.6s] It's like, yo, this is what I associate with. [895.4s] It's like, you get your choice because every time it's like, [897.7s] okay, we're going out to battle. [898.8s] I'm making this up right now. [900.2s] But every time before an epic battle goes on, [903.0s] everybody gets to eat their favorite treat beforehand. [906.7s] Because it may be the last time they get to eat it. [909.2s] Exactly. [910.4s] I love that. [912.5s] And if you could, just to continue the bullying, [915.0s] could you give us just like a few, just because Nash really has a vibe. [921.3s] I would say, yeah, I just want you to, like, what does Nash sound like? [927.1s] So Nash is probably me in college for many reasons. [933.7s] But, you know, he's kind of just chill, just does his thing. [937.1s] Not very smart. [938.1s] Doesn't read books because that's nerd shit. [941.7s] But he's very wise. [943.1s] Like I found in our interactions with him, like he may not read good, but he- [947.8s] He's willing to be introspective. [949.5s] Doesn't read at all. [952.4s] He's complicated. [953.3s] He also really gave Amy's character a lot to think about [957.4s] because they were used to being the strong, powerful one. [960.6s] Why read a book when there's people to read? [962.8s] Those are what's happening in life. [964.1s] See, that's exactly the kind of thing that Nash is always dropping. [969.0s] Yeah, so there's a little bit of Nash salmon treats for you. [972.2s] Thanks, Kyle. [973.4s] Yeah, no problem. [974.3s] If you do join our Patreon as well as getting to know [977.1s] Nash Salmon Treats and our other characters better in our whole other show that we do over there, [982.3s] you also get an episode dedicated to you. [985.4s] And this week's Patron Says Muppet Russ is- [990.6s] Dartbot Billy. [993.8s] Thanks, Dartbot Billy. [995.8s] Dartbot Billy, not laughing at you. [997.5s] Just laughing at Russ. [1000.6s] Dartbot Billy. [1002.6s] I choose to believe that is not an avatar name. [1006.4s] That is their real name. [1007.4s] That's their real given name. [1009.0s] Yeah, I like it. [1010.6s] Dart is actually maybe a pretty cool name. [1013.8s] Yeah, I think so. [1015.0s] Dart, I can see, yeah. [1016.2s] Yeah, although I guess here in Canada or maybe in the U.S. too, [1019.3s] people say that means cigarette. [1023.6s] So maybe it's not. [1025.8s] Dartbot Billy altogether though, great given name. [1028.4s] And that's why you should name your next child. [1030.8s] Yes, everyone listening, please name your next child Dartbot Billy. [1034.2s] Want to see a spike in that Dartbot Billy graph. [1038.4s] Yeah, 20 years from now, there'll just be like a uptick, like crazy. [1043.4s] People will be running for office. [1044.9s] And it started here with you becoming a Patreon member. [1048.0s] So if you too want to have an effect on the naming convention in history, [1051.9s] hop on over to our Patreon. [1056.1s] Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [1058.9s] Yeah, that's it. [1060.4s] Thanks, friends. [1061.5s] That was wonderful. [1062.8s] We'll get you back to the episode [1064.4s] and I will talk to you hopefully better next week. [1068.2s] Love you. [1068.6s] Bye. [1069.4s] Love you. [1069.8s] Bye. [1074.0s] You are yeeting. [1076.2s] You're yeeting, Cav, up into the air. [1079.0s] Cav, you've been yeeting. [1080.4s] You've been yeeting. [1081.2s] First I did the eating. [1082.4s] Now I'm being eaten. [1083.6s] It's just been the life. [1084.2s] And then hopefully I can catch you guys back because again, [1087.8s] you're going to get them and then you're all just floating away. [1090.7s] The yeety becomes the yeeter. [1092.5s] The yeeter becomes the yeetee. [1094.5s] Carla, make a dex check with your lasso [1097.3s] as all of this is happening. [1099.0s] Oh, a nat 20. [1100.2s] Shit, yes. [1100.5s] Oh, shit. [1101.0s] Finally, finally. [1101.9s] Take a picture. [1103.0s] I've been saving it this whole time. [1105.3s] For this moment. [1106.2s] OK. [1106.8s] For this moment. [1108.0s] So Cav, you run forward and step into Bonwyn's hands [1113.8s] and she launches you up and towards Alydin and Bazaar [1118.5s] who are floating away and you grab hold of Alydin. [1121.9s] And then feel a tug at your foot as you see that the rope [1126.6s] that Bonwyn had is now around your ankle [1129.2s] and she's holding you there. [1131.0s] All around you, everything is collapsing. [1133.6s] Memories are disappearing, but they're not breaking. [1139.0s] They're not fracturing the same way that they did. [1142.3s] And as the void collapses, you feel now all pulled back [1147.8s] down towards Bonwyn as she's trying to anchor you there. [1154.1s] After a quick moment, everything goes completely dark [1162.4s] and then you feel cool grass under your hands. [1170.0s] You all find yourselves in the clearing. [1176.0s] Dawn is breaking. [1177.8s] Wait, would you say it's a breaking Dawn situation? [1181.7s] Maybe. [1182.7s] Are we sparkling? [1184.1s] Did we become vampires? [1187.1s] Did anyone else feel weird that the end of the song was [1189.8s] da na na na na na? [1194.6s] I mean, it is of such a clear ending. [1197.0s] Yeah. [1197.4s] It actually was a great choice. [1199.2s] The air around you still feels wrong. [1202.8s] A distant rippling sound echoes across the space [1211.4s] like a great harp being tuned. [1217.2s] The wind carries a whisper, not of the banjo man, [1221.6s] but of something older, something deeper. [1227.8s] You hear the song was merely a symptom. [1233.3s] The fracture still lingers and we are listening. [1243.4s] The wind stops. [1245.1s] Everything's silent for a moment. [1247.3s] Alydin, you look down at your feet and the music box [1251.6s] plays one final note and then stops. [1263.1s] Damn, I thought you were going to say it explodes. [1269.8s] In your face, the two hill points you had, they're gone. [1276.6s] You're still all dead. [1280.6s] Alydin will bend down and pick up the box. [1286.0s] You hold it and it rattles like there's something loose or broken inside. [1291.3s] Do you want me to light that on fire for you or? [1293.5s] I just had a terrible moment that if I opened it up, [1295.6s] maybe I would see myself inside of it. [1297.7s] I pass it to Buzard. [1299.0s] Uh, I'm going to take it, okay. [1303.4s] I, you know, okay. [1309.8s] It deserves observation, to say the least. [1314.0s] You look across the clearing and the old warped tree [1319.0s] that you used to climb into the fey is fractured and split. [1326.2s] Still there, but it's like it's been axed in two. [1333.6s] And coming out of the woods around you, you see all of the missing children. [1343.1s] You see Tally run, sprint across the field towards you, Alydin. [1349.6s] Jump into your arms, which likely knocks you on your ass again. [1356.3s] Yeah. [1357.0s] You see Cedric and his eye that works too hard [1359.8s] and you see a whole bunch of other children all coming out [1363.9s] that you don't recognize. [1366.2s] They fill this clearing. [1368.9s] There's so many of them. [1370.0s] How long? [1371.8s] June's going to be pissed. [1374.6s] I want to, I want to look for the oldest one. [1376.9s] You find a child that's 15 ish. [1382.2s] Of similar age to myself. [1383.5s] Of similar age to yourself. [1385.0s] Age is just a number. [1387.2s] Um, and I go up to them and where, where are you from? [1394.8s] I'm, I'm from Kingstown. [1397.0s] Where, where am I? [1399.0s] Well, Vintersmouth ish. [1404.0s] There's a look of confusion. [1406.8s] I look, I look to Bazaar and I, and I shrug. [1410.0s] I go, do we take them home with us? [1412.7s] I mean, we can't leave them out here. [1416.1s] You know, we have a good space working with the school. [1419.3s] We have a plan in place. [1421.6s] We can attempt to return those back to Kingstown, [1428.2s] but I, who knows how long this has been happening. [1431.7s] Um. [1433.1s] Do you guys have parents? [1434.9s] You see them look to each other [1437.7s] and a lot of them are shaking their heads [1440.2s] and couple are, couple are nodding, [1442.8s] but the majority of them appear to not. [1447.5s] You know, I bet you're hungry. [1449.2s] You've been through a lot. [1450.7s] Maybe we should, why don't we just go get a snack? [1455.8s] Everything's going to make more sense [1459.0s] or at least feel easier to deal with. [1460.5s] If we just maybe go have a snack. [1464.4s] What time is it? [1465.2s] Is Dem Bunsdoe open? [1467.4s] Oh, I bet they're open. [1468.6s] You guys are going to love this place. [1470.0s] It's so good. [1472.2s] My treat, come on. [1475.4s] You lead all these children out of this clearing [1477.6s] and back towards Vintersmouth [1480.0s] and we cut to those bunsdoe [1483.2s] where everybody's in the street outside [1486.7s] and you've, you've been. [1488.7s] Approximately how many children are we talking about? [1492.9s] Let's say a number. [1494.4s] Yeah. [1496.0s] Everybody roll a d20. [1498.0s] Oh boy. [1499.0s] Shit, things are about to get low. [1501.0s] Not 20, no. [1502.1s] Five. [1502.9s] 12. [1503.5s] Six. [1504.6s] Five, 12, six. [1506.5s] That's right, Kyle, what'd you get? [1508.2s] I got an 11. [1509.0s] 11, and 18, 19, there are 49 children in total. [1517.1s] Oh wow, no wonder we couldn't find seating inside. [1521.5s] As you get back to town though, [1523.4s] everybody who you pass is shocked to see you. [1529.8s] You walk through the hot block [1532.4s] and Thane comes out of Everbane's [1536.3s] and he sees you there, Bonwyn. [1538.2s] And he says, you're, you're, you're, you came back, you're back. [1542.7s] Of course, I mean, it's only, [1545.2s] we had to go get the children. [1548.6s] Well, he looks and you see a few people like, [1554.4s] not running, but like see you [1556.4s] and like they're going to go get somebody. [1558.9s] After hearing that, I'm gonna, [1560.3s] I, Bazaard's gonna go to that 15-year-old and be like, [1563.7s] you, you say you're 15-year-old, 15 years old. [1566.6s] What year were you born? [1569.0s] Fuck. [1571.5s] You there, boy. [1572.9s] What year is it? [1575.4s] He tells you a year that is several years earlier. [1582.4s] So they're out of time. [1583.7s] Like they've been, they were trapped there. [1586.1s] He may be 15, but he should not be 15. [1589.1s] Yes. [1591.5s] And Thane looks to you and he says, [1594.5s] you've been, you've all been gone. [1597.1s] The kids kept disappearing. [1599.0s] You found them. [1599.7s] That's amazing. [1600.8s] You see the guard running up the street [1604.6s] and he says, you've been gone for three, three weeks. [1609.4s] I thought he was going to say years. [1610.8s] 10 years. [1611.4s] No, not doing that again. [1615.1s] Three years would have been manageable though, but. [1617.2s] Yeah. [1617.5s] Weeks is better. [1618.8s] We looked for you everywhere. [1620.6s] Like we couldn't, we couldn't find you or where you went. [1624.6s] Yeah. [1624.8s] It turns out a lot of things in this world [1627.1s] are not at all how I thought they were. [1630.3s] I was stuck with a fake family. [1632.2s] There was this whole other world and we were on. [1634.9s] It's a lot Thane. [1637.1s] It's a lot to explain. [1639.1s] Things aren't what they seem though. [1642.6s] He begins to help you like move these children down. [1645.9s] He's like, we're going to get you something to. [1649.4s] Okay. [1650.0s] Moving you to school. [1650.8s] The guard has come and one of them looks to you [1653.6s] and says, where's, where's, where's Dase? [1657.7s] Where's, where's, where's the captain? [1661.9s] Where is Dase? [1665.0s] And I guess I look at Cav and I was, [1670.6s] because it was the four of us, right? [1672.7s] Yeah. [1673.0s] Like me and Cav and Bazaar and Dase. [1677.1s] Well, you, you and Dase and Thane went out. [1681.8s] Thane had to go back, [1683.0s] but you and Dase went forward, [1686.2s] but then didn't save. [1687.6s] And then Bazaar and Cav came after. [1690.4s] Oh God, it's all on me. [1691.6s] It was just me and Dase. [1692.6s] It's just you and Dase. [1693.5s] Shit. [1694.4s] And you're like, fuck that guy. [1695.4s] And then when I met up with them, [1697.0s] it was just me. [1697.9s] Fuck. [1701.9s] You know what though? [1702.8s] You can't be held responsible for that. [1705.1s] This is crazy magic stuff. [1706.9s] Definitely. [1707.7s] I definitely feel responsible in the moment. [1710.6s] Um, I'm not, I'm not sure what happened to him. [1715.6s] He was with me and then he wasn't. [1718.1s] And so he's, he's still back there? [1725.4s] I don't know. [1729.4s] He wasn't in the space we were. [1732.0s] So it's likely, yes, still there. [1736.2s] Getting back there though, [1737.6s] seeing that tree in the state it was, [1739.6s] I doubt that is a route for us. [1742.4s] Yeah. [1743.8s] Because when we saw those memories, [1745.5s] there was no, no Dase memories there, right? [1748.2s] So he was somewhere else. [1750.3s] Correct. [1751.2s] But what we do know is that the kids [1754.2s] weren't just coming from here. [1756.1s] So if we do need to go find Dase, [1758.2s] there has to be a portal near Kingstown. [1761.1s] Because kids from Kingstown were taken. [1762.9s] So we want to follow this through. [1766.4s] We can't leave him there. [1769.8s] Yeah, there's another way in. [1771.5s] We're going to have to take these kids home anyway. [1773.7s] And if we're going to go back in, [1774.9s] we need to be better fucking prepared than we were. [1777.8s] Yeah, we do. [1779.4s] Cav, I think you need to get to a doctor. [1782.9s] As I'm like bleeding out. [1784.2s] Yeah, like you're just looking a little rough. [1787.0s] Cav's being so quiet. [1788.6s] Guards have come and are like propping you up. [1790.2s] I'm actually leaning on the 15-year-olds [1792.6s] to like prop myself up. [1794.6s] Guards come and like shimmy themselves out from, [1797.6s] you know, away from the 15-year-olds [1800.2s] and are moving you towards the hospital. [1803.5s] That's a really awkward sentence. [1805.5s] The guards are moving you away from the 15-year-olds. [1808.1s] They're taking you away from the children? [1810.1s] Yeah. [1811.6s] Let's move this bloody beaten man [1813.7s] away from these kids. [1814.6s] You are violating your parole right now, sir. [1816.9s] In a way to make sure that he is taken care of. [1821.6s] You get these children to the school. [1824.3s] They're under watchful eye. [1826.6s] All of you are getting tended to, [1829.6s] patching any wounds you have. [1831.7s] I think Bizard would take a moment [1833.4s] to talk to the group and be like, [1835.0s] I wouldn't openly talk about what happened to anybody. [1839.7s] I don't think they would believe you. [1842.1s] And I don't need people worrying about you. [1845.2s] We don't need people worrying about us. [1847.0s] So I don't know. [1849.2s] Tell who you trust, but. [1852.1s] Right. [1852.7s] We were just lost in the woods. [1855.3s] And then we found all the kids from years ago. [1861.2s] Think about how it sounds as an outsider. [1863.9s] Floating memories. [1865.4s] The whole experience. [1867.0s] It doesn't make sense. [1868.9s] A house filled with musical instruments attacking us. [1872.4s] It sounds crazy. [1874.1s] It's absurd. [1875.4s] It's absurd. [1877.1s] But this is the world we've learned that we exist in. [1880.2s] Don't people need to know? [1883.4s] If they can't understand [1884.6s] because they weren't there to experience though, [1887.0s] it's just going to be like [1889.8s] falling on deaf ears, won't it? [1892.6s] I think it would cause more chaos [1895.0s] knowing about something so hard to understand [1900.6s] than it would bring about curiosity. [1904.6s] I'm curious. [1905.8s] Like I kind of want to go back [1908.2s] and figure out why the hell [1910.1s] I can't cast a spell without it backfiring on me. [1913.4s] Then it's our job to make sure that they stay safe. [1919.2s] Exactly. [1920.6s] We took care of one portal. [1923.7s] Maybe we can take care of the others. [1926.6s] I don't know. [1927.3s] Take care of yourselves. [1929.4s] Rest up. [1930.8s] We can catch up on this later. [1932.7s] You're going to have to teach me a whole lot more magic. [1936.2s] You're going to have to learn a whole lot more magic. [1938.6s] Way to put that back on me. [1940.0s] Well, we're going to get there together [1941.1s] because I have to learn a whole lot more magic too. [1944.2s] That shit was ridiculous. [1946.5s] It is funny. [1947.2s] I'm excited by it. [1948.2s] It's, you know, using my spells [1951.7s] and having them completely explode in my face, [1953.8s] you know, metaphorically speaking. [1956.2s] Was I speaking in rhymes? [1958.5s] Yeah. [1959.5s] Yeah. [1961.0s] Okay. [1962.6s] That wasn't on purpose? [1965.0s] No. [1965.4s] I thought it was a weird time to start some poetry. [1969.6s] Yeah, it felt odd. [1971.6s] And I, you know, it's not one of the best things that I do. [1975.7s] But, yeah, okay. [1980.6s] I'm done thinking about that place for now. [1984.7s] Yeah. [1986.8s] But I feel great now that I ate. [1992.9s] Food is good. [1993.8s] You all split up and return home [1996.6s] and we'll end on Bonwyn who has used... [2000.2s] How are you feeling walking back to Everbane's? [2004.6s] Oh, terrible. [2006.6s] I like basically just forgot about days. [2010.8s] And I mean, you know, in further reflection and therapy, [2014.5s] I'm sure I'll come to realize there was a lot going on. [2017.1s] And I was not the one that created the situation [2020.3s] that put us there. [2021.9s] But, you know, he was my friend. [2024.3s] And I just like lost him in this scary, un-understandable place. [2030.6s] So, yeah, feeling pretty bad. [2034.6s] Feeling happy that we got the kids back. [2038.6s] But, yeah, just feeling very guilty, I think. [2045.8s] As you open the door to Everbane's, [2048.2s] the familiar warmth from the forge isn't there. [2055.0s] You step in, you see Thane, who's returned. [2059.8s] He's trying to stoke the fire of the forge. [2065.1s] Hears you come in, so I went out, [2070.3s] I don't know how long ago, a couple days ago. [2073.0s] I haven't been able to get it back going. [2078.0s] Has anything else been weird here? [2080.5s] I mean, other than us missing? [2082.6s] But here, here at Everbane, has anything been weird? [2087.1s] I mean, no, weird. [2092.0s] I don't think so. [2093.4s] He looks around, I don't know what you mean. [2095.9s] But no, like, I mean, [2098.2s] aside from not being able to get the forge going. [2101.7s] Okay, well, let me try. [2105.1s] You go over to it and inspect it. [2109.4s] There's no, you know this, like, the back of your hand. [2113.0s] There's no physical damage to it or anything around it. [2120.1s] And you go to light it. [2123.2s] Any flame that enters it immediately gets snuffed out. [2128.2s] Flint won't spark. [2129.9s] Bellows won't stoke. [2132.6s] The forge refuses to burn. [2217.6s] What shit happened to Dase? [2219.4s] Did he come with us? [2220.4s] Yes, he had a childhood moment or something, [2222.9s] and then we didn't hear from him. [2224.2s] He disappeared. [2226.6s] God, we're going to have to go back for Dase. [2227.9s] Never mind. [2228.0s] I won't say that anymore. [2229.2s] Dumbgeons and Dragons is a Dumb Dragons production.
