[0.0s] Oh, hey, friends, we're back. [1.5s] Dumbgeons and Dragons will start in just a moment. [7.8s] Alydin, Bonwyn and Dace are running through the streets of [11.4s] Intersmith and quickly following a fast disappearing trail of [16.6s] leaves that's leading to the Verboten Forest, making good [20.9s] time. The leaves are scattering, though, and as you [23.7s] get to the edge of the forest, all of you stop and [26.8s] have this sense of unease. [29.8s] Alydin, you begin to hear music playing from deep within the [35.2s] forest. [36.9s] Make a wisdom saving throw, please. [39.5s] I'm rolling dice. [41.1s] Roll it. [41.8s] Bonwyn, you don't hear it at this point. [43.5s] I hope there's just like a haunted piano somewhere. [47.2s] Just a nice old crone out there humming to herself and [50.6s] we're all freaking out. [52.1s] Oh, well, a four. [53.7s] Oh, shit. [54.4s] I ain't wise. [55.4s] I'm a child. [57.8s] It's my excuse. [58.9s] And not precocious enough to be wise. [61.0s] Not precocious enough. [62.3s] I'm working on it. [63.6s] Alydin, you hear this music. [65.5s] You're feeling compelled to move. [68.0s] You try to fight it off a little bit, but you hear what [74.1s] you what you think you hear is calls of Tally screaming for [78.4s] help in the forest. [79.8s] Do you guys hear that? [81.0s] No, it's Tally. [82.4s] It's Tally. [83.7s] This way. [85.0s] Take off. [86.2s] I'm running full tilt. [87.3s] I mean, I'm going to follow her. [88.4s] I don't hear it, but I'm also going to follow her because [91.6s] I'm not losing another kid. [93.0s] Tally! [94.0s] Alydin bolts off into the trees. [96.2s] Bonwyn and Dace roll an athletics check to see if you [99.9s] can keep up with Alydin as she begins like ducking under [104.9s] branches and skipping over logs. [107.1s] Like an adult could totally outrun a child, but the [109.6s] speed in which a child begins running is unreal. [114.9s] Pfft. [115.5s] 14. [116.6s] Alydin takes off into the woods and like disappears from [120.5s] sight before you even realize what's happening. [123.4s] You hear their footsteps and you follow quickly behind. [126.2s] You trip and Dace kind of catches you as you're going [130.2s] and helps you to your feet and you make your way onto [133.0s] this path and you see Alydin up a hedge about 25 feet in [139.0s] front of you. [139.7s] Alydin, you turn to see if they're following you and you [143.8s] see them behind you. [145.4s] And up ahead, you see a clearing come into view. [151.8s] Moonlight is beaming down into this space and you [155.4s] hear Alydin, you hear the music getting louder. [159.8s] The closer you get, you hear calls from Tally echoing [163.4s] through the trees, drawing you into this space. [168.1s] Bonwyn and Dace, you continue to run. [171.8s] Alydin kind of stopped there for a moment and you [174.4s] make it up to her. [178.2s] Do you hear that? [179.6s] It's Tally. [183.4s] I don't hear anything. [184.3s] No, which way? [187.1s] Point toward the clearing. [189.2s] Over there, but I can hear the music too. [193.2s] Like the song, the music or banjo music or what [197.7s] kind of music do you hear? [199.2s] Banjo music, like the one the guy was singing. [202.7s] Well, we have to, we have to go to her. [205.4s] We do have to go to her. [206.9s] I agree. [207.5s] But I... [209.0s] Alydin, you begin to walk forward and Dace reaches [212.9s] out a hand to try to stop you. [216.0s] And you... [219.5s] What do you do? [220.4s] I think I'm going to try and grab her hand, [222.8s] like to actually hold her hand. [224.6s] Okay. [225.7s] Because we're in the woods. [227.9s] I don't hear anything and I don't want to lose her. [231.4s] Yeah. [231.8s] So I'm going to grab her hand if she will let me. [235.3s] You have, well, you're feeling compelled to continue forward. [239.4s] So you tell me if you, if you let her. [241.6s] Oh, um, I, I think I, I, I'm a bit nervous. [246.6s] Can you, let's hold hands. [248.1s] I'm nervous in here. [248.8s] Okay, come this way. [250.7s] I don't stop walking, but, and I'm kind of like yanking on your arm. [254.6s] Like, come on, she needs us. [257.4s] Come on. [258.7s] The three of you make your way to the edge of this clearing [262.4s] and you step out into it. [265.3s] At this point, Bonwyn and Dace begin hearing faint echoing music as well. [271.6s] You don't yet hear the calls from Tali that Alydin is describing. [276.1s] And as you step out further into this clearing, Bonwyn, you step on something [284.0s] and the grass is tall. [285.4s] You step on something and kind of like your ankle rolls a little bit, not, not [290.1s] enough to like seriously injure you or anything, but you roll an ankle and [293.7s] you look down and the ground is littered with wooden toys. [300.0s] Oh, come on. [302.6s] Dace, Alydin, this is the creepiest thing I've ever seen. [306.5s] This is- [307.0s] Sorry, now that we're in there, am I compelled to go anywhere else or am [311.0s] I where I was drawn to and now? [315.0s] You, Alydin, look to the far side of this clearing and like your dream, you [324.2s] see this large tree come into view and it's almost like the trees around the [330.4s] edge are moving to make way for this tree that now comes into view and you [337.4s] are, like your body's moving towards this, like you're pulling on, on [343.0s] Bonwyn. [343.6s] Bonwyn, whether you choose to try and stop her or not, she's moving towards [348.5s] the other side of this clearing where the same imagery isn't, isn't happening [357.0s] for you, but you do see this, this large oak tree with this bored out [364.0s] hole in the side of the trunk. [366.7s] Bonwyn, do you see that? [369.5s] Do you see that? [370.1s] I think she's in, come on. [371.8s] I think she's in there. [373.0s] Okay, but we have to like, let's maybe be sneaky because it's right. [378.2s] Sneaky. [378.8s] You're so good at that. [380.3s] Let's try and not just run into the scary hole in the scary tree in the [385.7s] scary woods. [386.9s] I think she pretends to tip toe, but it's like, when you're being [392.8s] compelled to a big tree with a hole in it, I can't talk sense into her. [398.3s] I know that, but I still have to try. [400.7s] You all step into the clearing and you're making your way across. [404.1s] And the, the moonlight is, is coming down on top of you. [408.7s] Um, Dace and Bonwyn making a wisdom saving throw at this point. [415.6s] 16. [417.0s] You all continue forward and you're stepping between these toys that are [421.2s] littered all over the clearing. [423.9s] And as you get about halfway, the world around you begins to shudder and each [431.3s] of you find yourselves in a space, in a room, a child's room. [438.2s] And the more you kind of take in the, the, the feeling of this space, [445.0s] it is your room from when you were a child. [450.6s] Am I just like back in a shack or? [458.2s] You're actually just back in the hole you were hiding in for several [460.9s] months. [462.0s] Stop trying to get her stuck back in the hole. [464.4s] I don't want to be underground. [465.6s] I don't want to be in a cage. [466.9s] The kid hole. [467.7s] The kid hole. [468.2s] The kid hole, of course. [471.3s] Dumbgeons and Dragons is a D and D actual play podcast, and I'm your [475.2s] dungeon master, Russ More, he, him also with me today is Amy More [479.5s] as Alydin, she, her, my boss is mad. [530.4s] There's a, a large passenger ship that's pulled into port and we [537.3s] see bizarre and Kavlaran, and Clara following behind and Clara's waving [543.4s] to the, to the crew saying it was lovely. [545.8s] Thank you so much for teaching us all these games. [548.7s] Did, can you believe how many games they actually knew? [553.9s] More than I ever could have imagined. [555.9s] Tic tac toe gin rummy. [557.8s] Oh my goodness. [558.8s] I haven't played so many things since I was just a child. [562.4s] I feel like you're like some sort of card shark or something like that. [566.4s] Like you came away with like quite, quite a bit of gold. [570.4s] Like you kind of cleaned out. [571.8s] Seven pocket watches. [572.7s] People are mad. [573.5s] She stuffs, she stuffs some gold pieces into her purse. [577.5s] And you see the, we flashed to the crew who are like, who are waving, but also [582.4s] they have this defeated look on their face. [584.6s] Like she just hosed them for everything they were worth. [588.2s] Oh, Clara. [589.2s] Oh, that was just the most exciting, a couple of days on, on, on the, on the [594.4s] river there, wasn't it? [595.7s] And this is Vintersmouth. [596.9s] I haven't been out this far. [599.4s] Where are we going first, Bizarre? [601.0s] Uh, well, um, first I'd probably go back to my shop and home. [607.5s] So, uh, not a lot of space, but we'll make it work. [612.0s] I, you know, I've got a nice bed you can sleep in and I, I have a cot [615.0s] that I can put down in the storage area. [617.2s] So I, yeah, I don't, I'm not here to put you out, you know, we'll, [622.6s] we'll, we'll make it work. [624.0s] And I can help out around the store as much as you need. [627.1s] Um, uh, just to kind of, you know, get, get my feet back under me here [631.4s] and figure out what's what in Vintersmouth. [633.7s] This is a lovely town. [635.1s] Little, little torn apart in this area. [637.9s] Oh yeah. [638.5s] Is everything okay? [639.4s] Yeah. [639.5s] We had a problem with some monsters. [643.6s] Some monsters. [645.6s] Yeah, don't mean you didn't mention that on the boat. [647.6s] It must've been too busy with the game. [649.2s] Well, I was just awestruck. [651.3s] How did you learn to play cards like that? [653.6s] Don't tell those, uh, those ship boys, but, uh, I've played a few games in my time. [659.8s] They didn't know what hit them. [661.6s] Don't feel like I've seen this side of you, mom, but I'm very, very excited [665.5s] to see you open up a little bit. [667.1s] Gav, do you need to get anywhere? [668.6s] Or, uh, I was going to head back to the shop, check on Alydin [671.6s] cause I left Alydin in charge. [673.6s] Uh, so yeah. [675.6s] I mean that's, unless you're headed back to, uh, to Bench's place. [681.0s] Uh, yeah, I guess I should swing by my room and just make sure [684.7s] everything's good there. [685.7s] And yeah, then probably go see Bench. [688.8s] Maybe talk to Oak tomorrow. [690.9s] Probably not today. [691.8s] Maybe a tomorrow thing. [693.8s] Fair enough. [694.2s] Fair enough. [694.7s] Well, um, then yeah, we'll, we'll head on back to the shop. [699.0s] You're of course more than welcome to join us, but I'm just going [702.0s] to get my mom settled in and yeah, make sure everything is, uh, on [706.4s] the up and up with Alydin. [707.5s] Excellent. [708.5s] Start walking towards the shop and say, Gav, I'll see you. [711.0s] Yeah, we'll, uh, we'll catch you later. [712.5s] Clara's got like a new lease on life. [714.3s] She's like, springing her step. [716.0s] Stella got her groove back. [717.3s] Ritted the dead beat, right? [719.0s] She just lost like 180 pounds. [721.0s] She's slubbing it. [723.0s] Bizarre, you and Clara, you make your way through the streets. [725.8s] And so tell me all the sites here. [728.6s] Uh, you know, how far to, to the store? [731.4s] Where should I stop? [732.5s] What should I see? [733.4s] Who, who's good? [734.5s] Who do I stay away from? [736.6s] Well, I mean, everybody is fairly kind here in the town. [741.0s] I mean, it's once you get into the richer side of the town, which [744.4s] you'll, you'll obviously notice the difference between the two. [748.3s] But, um, my shop is right between a fantastic clothier and a nice [754.2s] barber, uh, so we can get you set up with any clothes that you need. [758.7s] Get your hair done. [760.2s] Um, you know, we have a couple of shops around, uh, there's [765.0s] a place called the hot block where my friend Bonwyn has their shop Everbanes. [770.0s] Uh, great place if you need any kind of utensils, metalwork or [774.4s] anything crafted for you, really. [776.3s] Um, oh, that sounds lovely. [778.1s] And, uh, I can't wait to meet all your friends. [780.2s] Yeah, absolutely. [781.2s] We're not going to meet a guy named, if you meet a guy named [785.8s] Ignatius, just, just say I'm good. [788.2s] Okay. [788.9s] Okay. [789.3s] Just say I'm good. [790.4s] Shady, shady character. [791.8s] I mean, just a weird dude. [793.1s] Like what are we? [793.7s] He's very upfront about his business. [795.8s] Uh, he runs an establishment called the quivering Hills and it's more of a house [801.5s] of what people would consider ill repute. [804.1s] So, well, all right, just so you know, if you go, it's your call. [808.5s] You live your life mom, but you know, Ignatius got us in some trouble [813.2s] and it kind of fell on us. [814.8s] So I don't necessarily like the guy, but fair, fair. [818.3s] Okay. [818.6s] Well, we'll stay away from Ignatius now. [821.0s] Yeah. [821.4s] So fast forward to romance between Ignatius. [825.8s] Oh, you son of a beach. [830.0s] Well, you just want your mom to stay away from him. [832.6s] It's a rebound, you know, like let her have a little wild fun. [836.9s] Yeah. [837.9s] Anybody knows how to show a woman a good time. [840.2s] It's probably Ignatius. [841.8s] Oh, God damn it. [842.5s] You can call me daddy. [844.0s] It's fine. [846.1s] Disgusting. [846.9s] I love it. [847.3s] I can't wait for this. [848.1s] I was that polymorph spell. [852.0s] But, you know, for the time being, before we get back, [854.6s] we can get some food at those buns dough, which talk of the town. [859.4s] Got to get got to get you from there. [861.2s] So good. Let's go. [862.6s] You make your way to those buns dough and grab some delicious [865.6s] pastries and coffees for for the next little bit. [870.2s] And you make your way to the shop and it. [873.3s] I mean, it's the late morning, but the closed sign is up. [877.2s] The shutters are drawn. [879.1s] The store, which by all intents and purposes should be open, is not. [884.5s] And you unlock it and go inside and things are things are dark. [890.5s] There are I mean, differences in the place is there are several hand [894.1s] drawn signs of people who are not allowed to shop behind [899.0s] behind the register. [900.5s] Like, I mean, how many are there? [903.5s] Well, like like like five, six that you can see. [908.8s] OK, yeah. [910.4s] The other one, she's still working on perfecting the sketch. [912.7s] The other wall was just go up to him. [914.9s] I look at some of the names. [915.8s] I'm like, I get it. [917.4s] That makes sense. That one's a shit. [920.2s] Jackson with an X. [922.8s] Oh, I say, well, it's odd that Hallidon wouldn't be here. [929.7s] So I wonder. [934.1s] Well, I want to get you settled. [935.9s] Just go ahead and mom, take your things upstairs. [938.6s] I need to. [940.8s] I need to I have no idea where alladin would be at this point [944.0s] if they're not here, so I'm going to cast the sending spell. [949.4s] Reach out to Alladin and [953.1s] I'm going to send a 25 word message or less saying, [957.7s] hey, just got back. [960.0s] The shop's not open. [962.2s] Where are you? WTF. [965.9s] Yeah. No, my boss is mad. [967.4s] And in case you need to know, Russ, for any reason, [971.4s] if the target is on if the target is on a different plane than me, [975.3s] there's a five percent chance that the message doesn't arrive. [978.6s] If you need that information. [980.6s] I do need that in five percent. [982.8s] That's pretty good. [983.5s] Odd still. Yeah, it's a pretty powerful. [986.6s] That's five percent chance. [988.2s] All right. [988.8s] You wouldn't change your cell phone provider over five percent drop it now. [998.2s] It's close. [999.3s] But you wait a good [1003.8s] a good long moment longer than you think you need to. [1006.4s] And no message comes back. [1009.3s] Oh, shit. [1011.7s] I'm going to tell my mom, Mom, just settle in. [1017.3s] Chill. I'm going to. [1018.4s] OK. Lock the door. [1020.0s] I have to go check on something. [1021.6s] I think someone's in trouble. [1022.8s] Oh, oh, OK. [1023.6s] Well, if you need anything, you come get me. [1025.5s] OK, I'm happy to help, but I'll just tidy up around here [1029.3s] until I hear from you, OK? [1030.9s] Much appreciated. [1031.8s] I'll be back as soon as I can. [1034.2s] I'm so sorry. [1035.0s] I'm good to rearrange the shelves. Yes. No. [1037.5s] OK, I'll just take my stuff upstairs. [1039.4s] OK, I tell you what, here here is a key. [1041.9s] If you want to go walk around the city, just, [1045.1s] you know, just maybe stay around the hot block and, [1048.2s] you know, check out some of the stores around town. [1050.7s] People are very nice, but I'm so bad timing. [1055.0s] I hate to do this. [1056.3s] Oh, no, no, I love you. [1057.8s] And I'll be back. Of course. [1059.3s] It's OK. Handle myself. [1061.1s] You take off and door locked behind you. [1065.2s] Where are you headed? [1066.4s] First thing first inclination would be to head to Everbane's [1070.9s] and check if Bonwyn knows where [1074.6s] Alydin is. [1079.0s] Welcome to the middle, everybody. [1080.3s] We're back, baby. [1082.2s] We're back. We missed you. [1085.3s] So much. It's been a long time. [1086.8s] You know, when you when you go away for a long time [1090.0s] and then you actually start to hear from people [1092.1s] that you've never heard of being like, hey, is this show still on? [1097.0s] What is going on? [1097.9s] Thank you for reaching out and connecting with us. [1101.0s] The show is still on, clearly. [1102.7s] You're listening to this episode. [1104.9s] Just a bunch of these dum-dums got sick. [1107.9s] Yeah, yeah. [1109.8s] And then Amy followed up with also getting sick. [1112.4s] Yeah, but I don't know what you're talking about, because she's pushing through. [1116.1s] Whereas we were like, yeah, we couldn't. [1118.3s] None of us know. I absolutely could not. [1120.6s] I was too sick. [1122.0s] We were all. I just love you more than they love you guys. [1125.0s] So I just made that. [1128.6s] Oh, wow. [1130.4s] Wow. Sick Amy fucking comes for the headshot. [1133.0s] No kidding. [1134.6s] Oh, we love you. We missed you. [1136.4s] And we're back. Yes. [1137.9s] Yay. [1139.5s] Excited to be back. [1140.6s] We got together in January, where we all got each other [1143.9s] sick from the intense makeout sessions that we all had, obviously. [1147.7s] That's right. [1149.2s] And planned a whole lot of things that we then now shifted down [1153.7s] one month in terms of scheduling. [1156.1s] Yes. But we got new stories that we want to do, new games, [1160.6s] new new bit of new structure coming to some Patreon [1165.5s] places, tiers. [1166.6s] That's what those are called. Or plates, whatever plates. [1169.5s] Yeah. Yeah. [1170.8s] It's like we're setting a plate for you at the Patreon table. [1175.5s] You can come join us for the buffet at Patreon.com [1179.2s] slash dumb dragon cast, where there's a smorgasbord [1183.0s] of new bonus content for you each and every month. [1187.4s] Yes. You nailed that, Russ. Well done. [1190.0s] Yeah, that was really good. You really rolled into that. [1192.0s] Felt really natural. [1193.6s] I don't know if I said the website, though. [1195.2s] So Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [1197.8s] One of the things part of the smorgasbord, is it the jello [1201.9s] with the skin on top? [1203.3s] Probably not, because that's good slash gross. [1205.9s] Is it the shrimp? It might be. [1208.0s] It could be. Is that you get an episode dedicated to you. [1211.0s] Yes, you do. Like today's patron, Paul Litch. [1215.9s] I know. It's scary. [1217.9s] It's Paul. Thank you so much. [1220.8s] Litch with a T. [1221.9s] So maybe he's not an actual litch, but just like, [1225.4s] that's his secret to tell. [1226.8s] You're not. Yeah, no. [1227.7s] Well, I think maybe he's going to spill the tea. [1230.0s] Ancestrally was a litch, but it got changed [1232.7s] like when they came through spooky Ellis Island. [1237.2s] Yeah, exactly. [1238.0s] You got to cover things up if you're going to be [1240.6s] if you're going to be going that route. [1241.5s] Exactly. No. Yeah. [1243.1s] We appreciate you, Paul, and you can be like Paul [1245.9s] and join us at Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast [1248.8s] for the all you can eat smorgasbord that we've got over there. [1252.3s] We're delicious. So delicious. [1254.5s] Right. And now we'll get you back to the episode. [1257.2s] Thank you for being here. [1258.1s] Thank you for being patient as we all got healthy [1261.1s] and are now putting all of the good, good funnies [1264.1s] back out for you. That's right. [1266.0s] Next next episode, two episodes. [1270.2s] We actually recorded around the table. [1272.1s] We did. So much fun. [1275.6s] We got to like look each other in the eye [1279.4s] as we made bad decisions, as we made bad decisions. [1282.6s] And it was so weird because Amy and I make a lot of eye contact [1286.8s] virtually. Somehow we somehow know we make eye contact, [1290.8s] but we are sitting right beside each other in real life [1293.2s] and we couldn't. It was a real change. Yeah. Yeah. [1295.8s] We had to turn and face each other, which was weird. [1300.0s] It was such a delight. [1301.2s] They're making us talk. [1302.9s] And I feel like the delightfulness of it, [1305.3s] fingers crossed, translates to the episodes. [1309.4s] I believe we'll talk about more how [1312.6s] we'll talk more about how awesome it was next week. [1315.1s] So now get you back to this episode. [1317.2s] Thanks for being here, everybody. [1318.2s] We'll talk to you soon. Love you. Bye. [1319.6s] Love you. Bye. Bye. [1326.2s] Bon, when you find yourself in your childhood bedroom, [1331.7s] what does the space look like around you? [1335.0s] So this would be upstairs at Everbane's, [1337.5s] like where the living quarters are, because of course, [1339.6s] it was the family shop before it was my shop. [1343.7s] I have now converted that into like a workout space. [1346.5s] But what was once my childhood bedroom? [1350.2s] And it's honestly, it's wonderful. [1353.1s] Like, it's so nice. [1355.3s] Maybe too much. [1358.4s] Too many handmade metal signs from dad [1362.0s] that say like number one daughter and live, laugh, love. [1366.5s] But it's nice. It's cozy. [1370.7s] There's there. [1371.9s] She has a little desk with her books from school, [1375.5s] a nice bed with a handmade quilt that her grandma made. [1379.5s] Window looks out over over the hot block. [1383.2s] And it's lovely. [1384.9s] Bonwyn's parents are great. [1386.3s] She had a lovely childhood. [1388.2s] And it's it's nice. [1390.9s] It's you know, she's got everything she needs in there, [1394.2s] including some secret hiding spaces, [1397.1s] because a girl's got to have those, too, right? [1400.0s] Absolutely. [1402.7s] You are instantly transported here into this. [1408.2s] And there's the warmth of the sun coming through. [1411.4s] And it feels feels safe and comfortable. [1416.8s] You go and you run your hand along the quilt [1420.1s] that your grandmother made you. [1422.0s] And like the stitching is exactly as you remember it. [1425.4s] And the smell in the room just overwhelms your senses. [1428.7s] And you sit on the edge of the bed and you're instantly [1431.9s] transported to this space. [1434.2s] And you sit up on the bed and you like [1440.0s] you for this moment feel like you are child Bonwyn again. [1447.8s] Your feet dangle at the same. [1449.6s] I mean, you're in, you know, say, dangle at the same distance [1452.7s] over the edge of the bed and you throw yourself back on your bed [1456.6s] and pull the pull the blanket around you and and sit back up. [1462.6s] And then on the other side of the room, you see your [1467.6s] favorite toy in a chair on the other side of the room. [1470.8s] What does that look like? [1472.4s] I think it is probably [1475.2s] an old kind of like slidey rocking chair [1478.4s] that my mom would have used when like when I was a baby to help rock me. [1483.0s] But it ended up in my room and it's got a bunch of cushions on it. [1487.2s] And also my favorite soft toy, [1491.5s] because there wasn't a lot of soft toys in Bonwyn's life. [1494.9s] A lot of a lot of metals. [1497.1s] And, you know, she loves those, obviously made her life with them. [1501.2s] But she has one soft stuffed pig that is just [1506.7s] destroyed, basically like it's squished, it's flat, it's a non color. [1512.5s] But it was, you know, it's the one she's had since she was a tiny, tiny baby. [1516.5s] It's her it's her favorite one. [1522.2s] You see this toy and like it, it's drawing you to it. [1527.1s] You get up off the bed and you run across and you you grab the toy [1531.1s] and hug it tight and lean into this chair that begins rocking back and forth. [1536.1s] And as it begins rocking back and forth, [1538.2s] you begin to hear this music kind of permeate the space, quiet at first. [1546.0s] Then after a moment, it starts to pick up and you begin to hear [1552.6s] like the sound of banjos echoing through. [1558.2s] And the music isn't isn't scary. [1560.8s] You're like, you know, you contextually, you adult Bonwyn [1564.6s] know that everything is scary and terrifying. [1567.7s] But suddenly everything is safe. [1570.5s] And the door starts to creak open. [1575.0s] And that's where we'll cut to Alydin. [1582.4s] Alydin, very similarly, you find yourself. [1588.8s] And now Alydin didn't have the same kind of upbringing, [1592.2s] but you find yourself in a safe space. [1596.8s] Somewhere, you know, it might not even been that long ago, [1600.5s] but you find yourself in a place where you feel comfortable. [1605.1s] Where do you find yourself? [1607.6s] I find myself in. [1614.0s] The little back room of the magic shop. [1618.7s] Oh, God, take you to the magic shop. [1624.6s] I have something in my eye. [1628.3s] Yeah, she finds herself in the back there and [1631.9s] is surrounded by the dusty jars [1636.2s] and scraps of paper that she's been keeping [1641.5s] and kind of practicing, [1645.1s] making her printing nice and neat so that she can redo [1649.1s] any, like, labels or price tags for him. [1652.8s] And yeah, she's just. [1657.7s] Just in the back room. [1660.9s] You are writing down price tags and and and [1668.9s] playing, not playing, but using things that may be [1674.5s] bizarre, probably didn't want you to necessarily [1678.1s] touch and play with, but you're you're not doing anything. [1681.5s] I'm so careful. [1683.0s] Yeah, no, you're you're being careful and you're [1685.4s] picking these things up and examining them and spinning them in your hands. [1689.8s] And as you place one of them down, [1693.5s] you place it on top of a box that looks familiar. [1700.2s] This box is and I say it looks familiar. [1705.1s] It it has a it has a a feeling to it that as you place this [1713.0s] this beaker down on top of it, you quickly move it off, [1718.4s] knowing that this box is very important, [1721.6s] not just to you, but perhaps to Bazaar as well. [1724.6s] Like the box itself is is red and it has yellow and [1728.6s] it has yellow kind of edging to it. [1731.1s] It has a lock on it. [1734.1s] You kind of patch your pockets and look around on the table [1738.6s] and you can't find a key for it. [1740.9s] I want to look in my bucket. [1743.4s] You put a key in my bucket. [1745.6s] You look down into your bucket and shimmering [1750.4s] in the bucket in this iridescent rainbow to it. [1755.9s] Is this skeleton key? [1761.8s] Oh, yeah. Oh, I pick it up like so careful, so slow. [1767.7s] Like I like there's something in this box. [1770.8s] I have to know. [1772.4s] I think. I think he would want me to know. [1778.0s] I think Bazaar would want me to know. [1782.2s] You grab the key and there's a warmth that runs through your arm. [1787.3s] And you reach out and put the key into the lock. [1792.0s] And you hear it, hear it latch and click. [1796.2s] You turn it, you unlock the box. [1800.6s] And like there's this [1805.2s] small plume of what looks like dust [1808.6s] that kind of comes up from the edge as the lock. [1811.4s] The latch clears and the box kind of tips open. [1815.6s] A light begins to emanate from the seal in the top of the box. [1821.2s] Oh, Alydin is excited. [1823.9s] She runs her hands along the edges of the box and like. [1828.6s] It's the same warmth that's coming from this light slowly, [1833.7s] like just like ever so slowly. [1836.7s] You know, when you feel like you're the main character in a movie, [1840.1s] she's having her moment, her main character moment. [1842.4s] She's like, this is like the most important thing ever. [1848.8s] She opens the box. [1850.6s] You lift the lid on the box and light begins to pour out towards you [1856.8s] and it dims and clears. [1860.1s] And sitting in the middle of this box is a small wooden toy. [1866.4s] What does the toy look like? [1869.5s] I'm going to give you Amy's answer first. [1872.2s] It is a small hamburger, a Royale with cheese, if you will. [1876.6s] Thank you so much. Oh, my God, thank you so much. [1883.8s] And it's stamped with B-A-M-F. [1893.0s] OK, but that's not what it really is, because it'd be crazy. [1900.2s] What is sitting there is one of those puzzle boxes, [1909.6s] one of the and not not like Rubik's Cube, but like. [1916.4s] I don't know how I'm trying to describe it. [1917.8s] We're like Hellraiser. [1920.7s] The Lammershants configuration. [1924.2s] Maybe I like Amy's face right now. [1929.3s] Is it like like one of those ones where it doesn't look like it has anything, [1932.1s] but there's like a sliding panel and then you push a button [1934.9s] to be able to undo a magnet and a ball rolls [1938.6s] shit like that. [1940.1s] Yeah, something like that. [1941.1s] There's like there's intricate carvings of [1946.0s] runes or letters that [1949.5s] Alydin can't make out. [1951.1s] And there are symbols and it feels somehow hollow [1957.8s] but heavy at the same time, like there's [1961.5s] like there's something in it. [1966.3s] And she shakes it and she hears nothing. [1969.7s] But there's a way to open the box, but there is no visible [1974.1s] hinges or any sort of seams [1979.2s] that Alydin can find. [1982.2s] You take this puzzle box and you go sit in one of the chairs [1985.6s] and chair squeaks beneath you. [1988.4s] And you're running it over in your hands and trying to decipher the runes. [1993.9s] And there's this wisp of light [1999.0s] that you don't really pay much attention to. [2001.1s] You're so enthralled with this this toy. [2004.6s] It begins to encircle your head. [2008.1s] And then goes out the back door. [2011.6s] And that's when you lift your head [2016.3s] and you turn and you look towards the back door, [2019.4s] which is open and it's not usually open. [2023.4s] Not leaving the box, she is. [2028.4s] Just like obsessed with this box. [2031.6s] She walks over to the door and kind of peeks [2036.4s] out because she could have sworn that it was closed and [2039.1s] Bazaar always keeps it locked. [2043.7s] You poke your head out the door and it's it's dark. [2046.8s] It's pitch black, dark of night, and it feels [2051.2s] it feels off like there feels like something's not quite right. [2056.3s] But from somewhere in that darkness, [2060.7s] you hear the faint call of Tali. [2064.6s] Tali. [2067.1s] Alydin, where are you? [2070.3s] She puts the puzzle box in her bucket [2075.3s] and slowly steps out into the dark. [2082.0s] Tali. [2084.0s] Tali. [2085.7s] Here, the creak of the door slowly closed behind her. [2090.7s] Here, the creak of the door slowly closed behind you as [2095.7s] the safety of the magic closet [2100.9s] leaves as the door latches. [2104.2s] You enter this dark space. [2108.4s] I'm in the dark again. [2112.3s] Do I feel like I'm outside or am I in one of those moments where [2117.1s] the door shuts and it's just black? [2123.1s] We'll come back to you. [2125.1s] You just sit with that for a bit. [2126.3s] Yeah, just wait there in the dark. [2128.7s] You're used to it. [2129.7s] You've left your mind still. [2133.6s] Kav, you were going to go see Bench or you were going to go back to your place? [2136.8s] You're going to go have a drink, like. [2139.3s] I was going to go see Bench, but I get waylaid by the handsome [2143.2s] first officer from the ship. [2144.9s] Oh, OK. [2147.0s] We we cut back down to the docks. [2150.6s] And Kav, you are chatting with the first officer whose name [2157.6s] I wish I pulled up all the fucking names because Jess gave me shit for giving [2161.6s] someone an unnamed NPC. [2165.4s] Well, yeah, but we also explain that we don't want to just use their good [2169.0s] names on potential throwaway characters. [2171.1s] Look, Tom's making a pass at the first officer from the ship here. [2176.1s] So I feel like he will be a throwaway character, but that's fine. [2180.7s] You don't know that. What if you really feel a connection? [2183.5s] You know, this is how Kav does it. [2185.6s] Yeah, Kav keeps it easy breezy. [2188.4s] Love them and leave them. [2190.7s] Set them free if they come back, yadda yadda. [2193.0s] File a restraining order. [2194.8s] Oh, season three responses. [2196.9s] If it took me any longer than that, I would have just come up [2200.5s] with a name it at the exact threshold of time that Russell's willing to put [2205.5s] into it before just saying like Garnie Gorsh Gorsh. [2213.5s] Never mind. I don't talk to this person at all. [2217.4s] His name is Clark. He's so hot, but I can't. [2219.7s] I mean, I just can't with the name Gorsh. [2224.1s] He's all. Can you imagine moaning that? [2226.0s] No, no. [2228.4s] It's a gnome named Gurgungl. [2230.8s] Yeah, that's a Gorsh, am I right? [2236.4s] You're talking to Gorsh. [2238.0s] No. I'm happy to talk to Gorsh. [2242.1s] Gorsh. Gorsh is, well, I mean. [2247.3s] Yeah, let's go with Gorsh. [2248.5s] Love it. Sorry. [2249.6s] People who've given us names and we've found ourselves here. [2253.2s] The first mate of the of the captain of the captain, [2257.2s] first mate of the ship that you just arrived on. [2260.7s] Nice to see you back here. [2262.6s] Is this where you're stopping or are you getting back on? [2265.0s] Well, no, I'm you know, I'm here for the for the time being. [2269.0s] Do you want to go grab a drink or something? [2271.2s] I'd love to. Yeah, we don't leave for, you know, here for the day at the least. [2275.6s] Is there a good spot around here? [2276.9s] There is a great spot. [2279.2s] It's called the Brewed Awakening. [2280.9s] My buddy Benj runs it. [2283.0s] All right. Fantastic. Can't wait. [2284.6s] I can't wait. Just give me a moment. [2286.1s] I'll let them know I'm heading out and I'll be right down. [2289.6s] Perfect. Hops up onto the ship there. [2291.7s] I'm sorry. This is an iconic, just like memorable [2296.4s] Dungeons moment. [2298.1s] I don't think Tom's ever had a character that had any romantic interest. [2301.8s] I don't think so either. [2303.4s] I like that it's been so easy, too. [2305.2s] Till now, we just pointed it out. [2306.5s] Now we're going to make it off. [2308.8s] Yep. Yeah. Well, you know, [2310.7s] like Russ named the love interest Gorsh. [2313.7s] That's true. [2315.0s] Which we haven't found out yet. [2317.0s] Oh, that's true. [2320.0s] So they haven't interacted on this voyage. [2322.2s] They've just been like eyeballing each other. [2324.1s] Just like some knowing glances. [2325.3s] Yeah, polite small talk, probably. [2328.6s] But that's about it. [2329.6s] Yeah, that doesn't sound like being on a ship. [2332.3s] Yeah, it sounds like some. [2333.2s] Well, I'm trying. [2335.5s] Clara was running. That's true. [2337.2s] There was some intense gambling going on. [2339.2s] Yeah, right. That's right. [2340.9s] You wait a moment and you see this gentleman coming back down [2346.8s] and he calls to a couple of people, says, yeah, I'll be back soon. [2349.8s] Don't worry. I'll bring you back some food as well. [2352.9s] And he comes down and Kav, make a perception check. [2357.2s] Perception check. [2359.8s] Do you see his nameplans? [2363.2s] Is he wearing a uniform? Tell me more about it. [2366.5s] I want to know, like, I mean, I would have to assume [2369.4s] he had some very tight fitting pants. [2371.2s] And that's what drew Kav's interest. [2372.3s] This is what I'm wondering what Kav saw in him, that he was like, OK. [2377.0s] You can tell what kind of underwears he gets from chest of drawers. [2379.4s] You know what I'm saying? Absolutely. [2381.6s] If any. None. [2383.2s] None. You said perception? [2387.1s] Yes, please. All right. [2388.1s] So that is a 16 after bonus. OK, 16. [2391.2s] So, yeah, you see the first mate coming down [2395.6s] and, you know, describe the first mate for us. [2399.0s] What did draw Kav into this gentleman? [2402.2s] Well, he's got like a very nice, crisp uniform on. [2407.0s] It's very white with some like navy blue accents. [2410.5s] And yeah, just like a real nice, like sculpted butt in those pants. [2415.6s] Kav has no idea what his face looks like. [2418.7s] Oh, no. Yeah, no. [2420.1s] Well, that's how we miss the name tag. [2422.6s] Yeah, you see that sculpted [2426.1s] button, those nice navy blue pants coming back down the gangplank. [2430.1s] And out of the corner of your eye, you see [2433.2s] Bazaar tear around a corner like full sprint [2437.6s] heading towards the hot block. [2439.1s] And there is an intersection that kind of passes by. [2443.2s] You see him like bolting. [2446.2s] Bazaar. Sorry, sorry, one sec. Sorry. [2451.4s] What's up? Yeah, Kav. [2453.2s] Hey, what's up? [2454.8s] You're in a hurry. What's what's shaking? [2457.8s] Oh, yeah, I I don't I don't know. [2460.5s] Alydin's not at the shop and a spell that I use to talk to people [2465.3s] didn't get answered. [2466.8s] And that means maybe they're not on this plane of existence anymore. [2470.9s] Oh, I don't know what that means for a child, but it's not right. [2474.6s] OK. Oh, I'm I'm I turn over to the first mate. [2479.2s] I'm I'm so sorry, but a friend of ours is missing [2483.0s] and I'm going to have to reschedule that drink. [2485.7s] That's that's OK. Is there anything we can do to help? [2489.6s] I guess if you see a young girl with a bucket, [2493.6s] you let me know. All right. [2495.8s] OK, no other distinguishing characteristics. [2498.1s] Just a young girl with a red hair. [2499.7s] Well, I mean, red hair about yay high, you know, got it. [2503.7s] OK, poor looking. [2505.9s] Yeah, we'll keep an eye out. [2508.6s] Like I said, we're we're here all day. [2510.0s] If you need any help, like we got a full crew, we can we can do [2514.8s] we can do something. Perfect. [2516.6s] OK, thanks. Yeah, I'll let you know. [2518.7s] Sorry, I didn't catch your name. [2519.8s] We didn't have a chance at Gorsh. [2523.5s] Gorsh. OK, yeah. Yeah. [2525.6s] Is that a family name? [2527.4s] Yeah, it was my my grandmother's name. [2529.3s] There's no time. We've got to go. [2531.3s] Because I say, man, like I'm going to Bonwyn's [2534.5s] going to Everbane's right now. [2535.5s] Check with Bonwyn, see if Bonwyn knows where she is. [2537.5s] I just the lack of response. [2540.5s] Yeah, that's crazy. [2542.3s] Yeah, OK. All right, let's go. [2544.8s] Two of you book it down to the hot block and [2549.2s] you make it to Everbane's and the door is ajar. [2553.1s] And there's there's commotion inside. [2555.7s] And as you as you enter, you see Thane [2559.4s] and all of the children [2563.2s] that you've known to exist in and around Alydin. [2568.6s] And there's June on the other side of the room [2570.9s] helping kind of wrangle and feed some some of the kids. [2574.0s] And Thane sees you enter and he calls you over. [2576.7s] He says, Bazaar, you're back. [2579.0s] Kav, good to see you. [2581.2s] So he he just he's something's wrong. [2586.4s] Something is not is not right. OK. [2590.5s] Bonwyn and Alydin and Dase have [2596.3s] so kids have been going missing. [2598.8s] Oh, Cedric was first. [2602.4s] We brought all the kids here. [2604.8s] Tally went missing while we while we were here. [2607.5s] And then the three of them [2611.3s] followed this path like there's a banjo man. [2615.3s] And there's there's there's music. [2618.6s] And like I don't [2621.2s] I can't explain it, but they followed these leaves. [2623.7s] They just said there was leaves and they had to follow them. [2626.0s] But they've been gone for two days. [2630.6s] Yeah, that's way too long to be gone. [2633.3s] Where are these leaves? Where do we go? [2636.0s] They went down to the there was a path to the forest. [2639.4s] June, June, are you are you OK? [2641.0s] I can take them as far as as far as I remember seeing. [2644.5s] Oh, yeah, I got these little ones. [2646.4s] Don't you worry, you guys, come around, come around. [2648.6s] I'm going to tell you a story. [2649.7s] Oh, is it a scary one again? [2651.8s] No, of course not. You're living the scary story. [2654.6s] OK, good. Once upon a time, there was a vampire. [2657.9s] A vampire? Oh, wow. [2660.4s] That's not as scary as this. [2662.8s] Thane takes you out. [2663.7s] Did you guys just get back? [2665.2s] Yeah. Yeah, just got back. [2667.4s] Went to my shop. [2669.3s] Alydin's not there. [2671.0s] Yeah, we've had we've had every every day since been gone. [2674.6s] Like the the guard has been out looking like they [2678.6s] and nobody's been able to find them. [2679.9s] They've been into the forest like they can't. [2682.3s] Anyway, they're OK. [2686.5s] Banjo Man [2688.8s] Bard came down was singing a song. [2691.4s] Kids picked up the song, started singing the song. [2694.4s] The song was creepy. [2695.5s] Like the song was like really like, why do kids sing this song? [2700.2s] You know, talking about like a banjo man is going to come [2702.6s] get you in your sleep kind of vibe. [2704.8s] That's terrifying. Not cool. [2707.0s] And then what did they say? [2708.8s] And then there was Cedric went missing. [2711.1s] There were there were leaves. [2712.8s] They were in a bag because Bonwyn put him in a bag. [2715.6s] And then she said something about a shimmering musical note, [2719.0s] something like that. [2719.6s] And you guys are walking towards the forest. [2721.6s] The shimmering note where it was etched [2725.2s] is etched into the into the floor, etched into the floor at the school. [2729.4s] OK. [2730.5s] Um, let's go see if we can find this trail. [2735.0s] And then if we don't find anything there, that's our second stop. [2738.2s] Yeah, of course, of course. [2739.6s] And he takes the lead and down the street [2743.9s] towards the Verboten Forest and [2748.8s] a large wind picks up at that point [2751.3s] and leaves from the entire Verboten Forest [2754.2s] begin to move off of the trees and swirl around you. [2757.6s] Bizarre, do you you sense [2763.4s] a similar feeling, not the same, [2766.5s] but a similar feeling to when you were down in the mine [2769.7s] and you saw that portal in front of you, like there was a [2774.4s] a disturbance, something that in you, [2777.9s] in the essence of your very being sensed [2782.1s] was different about the space that you were in, a difference about the world. [2786.8s] Was there a disturbance in the force? [2788.6s] No, I didn't say that. I didn't say that. [2791.9s] Come at me, Lucas. [2794.5s] No, it's Josney. [2795.3s] They're going to get Josney now. [2796.7s] Yeah. Oh, boy. [2798.7s] You get this feeling and it's like the wind passes by [2802.1s] and it comes on as this chill as you continue forward. [2805.6s] You're unsettled. [2806.8s] You know that something has shifted in the direction that you are going. [2814.4s] Um, Cav, do you have all of your equipment with you? [2819.8s] Are you? I have a feeling this is giving me the same vibes [2824.2s] as what happened down in the mines. [2826.7s] Oh, shit. No. Oh, yeah. [2829.0s] No, I have everything. [2830.0s] Like, I didn't even get a chance to go home. [2831.6s] So. OK. OK. Just just double checking. [2834.3s] Um, like at least Bonwyn's with her. [2837.8s] We've got to go in there. [2839.3s] We'll get him back. It's going to be totally cool. [2841.9s] We got this. [2843.9s] Yeah, we do. Let's get after it. [2847.2s] Welcome home, am I fucking right?
