[0.0s] Dumbgeons and Dragons will begin right after these messages. [3.6s] Maybe there'll be no messages. [5.2s] Maybe there'll be a couple. [6.4s] Stick around and find out. [12.2s] We find ourselves in the hot block. [16.5s] The hot block is a busy portion of the artisan district of Vintersmouth, where [21.9s] Bonwyn's blacksmith, Everbane's, is the central piece. [28.6s] We hear hammering from inside there. [31.9s] We have to the left and right, we have the tailors, we have the ferriers, we [37.8s] have the woodworkers and glass blowers. [40.1s] Like this is where a lot of the materials that are sold both in and [45.8s] out of town are getting made. [48.0s] So they clump them all together. [50.7s] And as we kind of come down this street, we see those two boat crewmen [57.4s] who are pulling along this very small crate. [63.4s] They appear to be quite out of breath and sweating buckets, regardless of the [69.8s] size. Bonwyn, you turn and look at them and they look like they're about [75.7s] ready to pass out, which based on the size of anybody else looking at it, [80.6s] would say that this is, there's something wrong with these two. [84.7s] Are we almost there? [87.9s] We're almost there. [88.8s] And I can get you some, I'll get you some water. [91.4s] Oh, thank you. [92.0s] I really, I really appreciate it. [93.7s] I obviously couldn't have carried this back here by myself. [97.3s] I didn't think it was going to be this heavy. [99.1s] Yeah, it looked a lot smaller when we, it's, it's deceptive. [103.6s] It's this special metal and you just need a touch of it and you add it in. [107.8s] And it, it's, um, yeah. [111.9s] Oh, okay. [114.4s] Ready? [114.9s] No, one, two, three. [120.3s] I pulled something. [121.7s] Okay. [122.2s] Okay. [122.8s] Yep. [123.3s] Is it there? [124.1s] Okay. [126.6s] I don't, no, just here. [127.8s] Let me just. [128.4s] It hurt so bad. [129.6s] Oh my God, Taylor, get it together. [131.0s] There's some pressure on it. [134.0s] Welcome to Dumbgeons and Dragons, a D&D fifth edition actual play podcast. [139.4s] I'm your dungeon master Russ More. [141.2s] He, him and Dumbgeons and Dragons stars Amy More as Alydin. [145.3s] She, her. [145.9s] She looks around and goes, Tom Laird is Kavlaran Goldweave. [153.4s] He, him. [154.2s] We're good, right? [155.0s] We can do like a cone of silence. [157.1s] And Carla Maxted as Bonwyn Everbane. [159.9s] She, her. [160.7s] Let's maybe, uh, fewer gold statues and more. [164.9s] This is going to sound crazy. [166.9s] I don't know. [167.4s] Schools. [168.2s] Dumbgeons and Dragons is a Dumb Dragons production supported by our patrons. [172.5s] Join us today at patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [176.1s] And now we've got a lot to get to. [178.0s] So fuck it. [179.7s] Let's play. [185.5s] We arrive in a very derelict abandoned building on the outskirts of what is. [198.5s] Known as the Kinsman's district. [203.1s] Vintersmouth is split into three distinct parts. [206.4s] There is the artisan district, which we spent some time in last time where [209.8s] there's the docs, uh, where there's the hot block, where there's a lot of [214.2s] restaurants, um, a lot of the hubbub of the city and the action of the [218.7s] city happens in the artisan district. [220.7s] Uh, there's the noble district, which is where we found the mayor's office. [224.5s] We haven't really seen a lot of that. [226.3s] Um, but now we're exploring the Kinsman's district, an area that is [231.5s] particularly known for its criminal activities. [236.3s] Um, in this abandoned building, we hear the soft footsteps of Alydin [245.2s] who's returned home after having an altercation with Sergeant Dase. [250.4s] Um, and you enter as you usually do and it's silent. [254.7s] Um, what do you do when you enter this building and give a brief [259.6s] description of like what you see. [263.3s] As you enter, it looks just like a regular, you know, abandoned building. [268.1s] There are crates in the corners. [269.7s] It's dusty. [271.4s] There are tarps and things that have been left around, um, pieces of wood [276.2s] and nothing, nothing really to see there. [279.9s] You would peek your head in and be like, oh yeah, that's an empty, abandoned [285.5s] building, uh, but as Alydin walks through the door and shuts it behind [293.0s] her, uh, she looks around and obviously had checked to see if anyone [300.1s] was following her and goes out of the shadows and beneath different [307.9s] crates, um, several other children appear. [313.2s] One of them, a, a very slender, uh, three and a half foot tall [321.5s] girl runs over to you. [323.3s] She's got very tousled brunette hair, appears to be a half elf. [328.4s] And she says, you, you made it back and you, and you brought [331.4s] a, and you brought a baguette. [333.9s] Everybody, everybody come on quick, come quick. [335.6s] Shh, Tally. [336.8s] Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. [338.6s] Okay. [338.9s] I did. [339.2s] I got a big baguette. [340.2s] I had to, well, I had to outsmart constable. [344.7s] What's his face? [346.8s] Constable days. [347.7s] And she, she, she got smarter constable days. [351.1s] Sergeant, Sergeant days again. [353.3s] Of course you did. [354.5s] Nobody's surprised. [355.6s] He's such a big dummy. [356.6s] He is such a big dummy. [358.2s] All right. [358.5s] Here, split this up Tally. [360.6s] Okay. [361.0s] Okay. [361.3s] Okay. [361.5s] You get a piece. [361.9s] Don't take the biggest piece again. [363.4s] That's not how this works. [364.3s] No, of course not. [365.2s] You get the last piece. [366.3s] Everybody gets equal pieces. [368.1s] Okay. [368.5s] Here, Yanny, you can have some growl. [371.3s] This is, this is for you here. [372.9s] Okay. [373.3s] Okay. [373.7s] Yep. [373.9s] No, I'll spread this around. [375.5s] This is so great. [376.2s] This is, this one's bigger than the last one. [378.0s] That's amazing. [378.9s] They were just going to throw it out anyway. [380.5s] So I think we're doing this town a service by making it less thrown away. [388.6s] There's stuff for no reason. [389.8s] That would be so stupid. [391.2s] Why would they throw this away? [392.6s] It's so good. [394.0s] Do not talk with your mouth full. [396.6s] I'm sorry. [397.6s] Wow. [398.5s] Here, here's your, here's your piece. [400.3s] Here's your piece. [401.0s] Thanks Tally. [401.8s] So what have you guys been up to while I was gone? [403.4s] Uh, oh, well we, uh, we, we, we did the perimeter. [407.3s] Uh, like you, like you said, uh, make sure we didn't see anybody coming [410.9s] through, you know, the kinsmen, they were walking by not too long ago. [414.2s] Uh, we, we kept real quiet so that they didn't, so they didn't see us. [418.3s] Uh, we didn't want any, any busy. [420.7s] We didn't really want to do anything else beyond that. [423.0s] I mean, we ventured out a little bit to this, to the back stables, you know, [427.4s] cause there were some birds out there. [429.4s] Um, and do you guys practice at all? [433.2s] So we, well, I mean, no, no, we didn't practice. [439.2s] I'm sorry. [439.8s] You guys are going to be out there before you know it. [442.8s] I can't be doing everything for you all the time. [445.3s] I'm not going to be here forever. [446.9s] I got plans. [448.0s] Okay. [448.8s] So if you're not practicing, pickpocketing with each other, right. [452.5s] How are you supposed to pickpocket when you're out there? [454.4s] Well, that's a good question. [456.6s] Okay. [457.2s] Uh, after, after we, maybe we can do some practice. [460.3s] You can show us again how I would do it. [463.1s] Uh, yeah, I can do that. [465.1s] Yeah. [465.6s] But after I'm tired. [466.6s] Okay. [467.0s] Okay. [467.4s] Okay. [467.7s] Yeah. [467.9s] No, it won't bother you. [468.6s] We'll go over to the worst. [469.5s] Go sit over here and hum our little song that we, that we hum together. [482.1s] That's the only song. [485.6s] Anyone knows curls up in the corner, um, on some burlap blankets and, um, just sits [491.6s] quietly and thoughtfully eats her baguette. [512.8s] We fade out and we hear a soft hum of an empty room and there's the [526.0s] sound of flipping of papers, one slowly at a time, scrawling of notes. [537.0s] And we see Kavlaran seated at a desk, flipping through the papers that he's [543.5s] allotted for the day with Oak standing ridiculously close, looking over his shoulder. [552.2s] So, uh, I went and talked to Nina and Nina said that, uh, they, they have [559.8s] the paperwork for, uh, for the monument and everything looks good. [565.0s] And I trust Nina so that, uh, you know, so, uh, that's all ship shape. [570.1s] Um, they did mention that taxes did go up. [573.5s] Um, and, uh, you know, this was, uh, this was the third strike, um, for [579.4s] Brewed Awakening, um, uh, for not paying those new taxes and they [585.7s] had to revoke the business license. [587.3s] It was all above board and the paperwork was all filled out and [590.4s] everything, uh, totally, totally on the up and up. [593.6s] Uh, okay, great. [594.8s] Um, oh, can you show me the first two written warnings? [598.9s] You obviously kept copies of those, right? [601.2s] That you took to Brewed Awakening? [603.0s] Yeah. [603.4s] Oh, of course. [605.0s] Yeah. [605.4s] Yeah. [605.7s] No, we're going to have to, uh, either let me see. [608.4s] Uh, I've got one and he pulls out a piece of paper, uh, from a, from [612.8s] a pouch that he has, puts it down in front of you, smooths it out. [616.6s] And he says, here's the first one. [618.0s] Uh, this one was from, uh, a few months back, uh, when we had that, [622.6s] uh, had that, that tax increase. [625.0s] Um, and then, uh, where was that second one? [628.1s] Um, [630.8s] see, okay. [631.4s] Well, the, the only problem I have with the first one is it doesn't [634.8s] really give any details. [636.9s] It just says taxes are going up. [639.4s] Yeah. [640.1s] And that's the end of the note. [641.2s] Well, yeah. [642.0s] And then it, uh, see down here at the bottom, it says Brewed Awakening missed. [646.8s] There was a couple other businesses, uh, they got, they got [650.4s] torn off as they paid. [651.9s] Uh, so Brewed Awakening missed, uh, and, and, and, and, you know, a delayed, [657.8s] delayed missed, uh, you know, even by a day really just sets everything back [663.1s] in motion. [663.7s] So that's really just, um, it's the, it's the, it's what we got to do to [668.6s] make sure everything's in line and in order in this town here. [673.9s] Okay. [674.6s] Uh, yeah. [675.4s] Have, have you guys considered maybe a more streamlined system for these [681.0s] collections? [681.7s] Like if one miss sets everything back, that doesn't seem like a great system. [687.8s] I mean, a lot of our city's systems run solely off of these tax dollars. [693.2s] So we really, in order for the people to know what they're getting and [697.0s] know, and need to benefit from the resources that the city provides, uh, [702.2s] taxes are very important introduction into, uh, everybody's daily workflow. [711.0s] Uh, yeah, that, uh, that makes a lot of sense when you put it that way. [717.8s] Well, I mean, that's what Nina said. [719.8s] So I, I mean, I never really argue with Nina. [723.4s] Uh, Nina just tells me that that's what the mayor has sent down and [727.8s] that's what we're doing. [728.9s] Uh, so the city guard goes around and collects the taxes and then brings [732.5s] it on back and then keeps a note if anybody's missed. [735.4s] And then on the third strike, well, that's a revoke, uh, yes, [739.3s] revoking the business license. [741.9s] Okay. [742.5s] Uh, yeah. [743.6s] Uh, we're like, we're good, right? [746.0s] We can do like a cone of silence. [749.2s] What do you mean? [749.9s] You know, some trust going on here. [751.5s] I could ask you a pointed question and, uh, of course. [754.7s] Yeah. [755.1s] You can just, you can tell me, does Nina run in this show? [758.0s] Is Nina running this show? [758.9s] Cause it seems like Nina's running the show. [760.4s] Nina doesn't run this show. [761.7s] The mayor runs this show. [764.2s] Oh, Cav. [768.4s] All right. [768.7s] Just, I was just curious. [769.7s] Nina knows a lot of things. [771.2s] Like it's important to have somebody in the, in the organization who, uh, [775.8s] really just, uh, keeps everything together. [779.9s] But is Nina running this? [781.1s] No, Nina, Nina takes orders. [783.3s] Okay. [783.6s] Cool. [784.0s] Um, I'd love like a one-on-one with Nina at some point. [786.7s] You haven't had a one-on-one with Nina. [788.2s] Nina's great. [789.0s] You're going to love Nina. [790.2s] I'm going to get that on the books for you, you know, probably within [793.4s] the next two to three weeks, cause Nina's very busy. [796.4s] Well, yeah, I mean, it sounds like it. [799.7s] Uh, so in, in order to square away Bench's tax issues, I just get him to pay [806.2s] what he owes and all good. [808.3s] He can keep going on his usual business. [811.2s] Yes. [812.0s] As long as everything's paid up, but then has to go through a reapplication [816.2s] process, uh, because we've had to revoke it. [819.6s] Um, it's logistical nightmare. [822.6s] It's best just to pay the taxes when everybody comes knocking, [825.8s] if you know what I mean. [827.3s] I'm, I'm getting that impression. [829.0s] That's for sure. [829.8s] Uh, okay. [831.0s] Yeah. [831.4s] Okay. [831.9s] Um, well, I think, I don't know, it seems like a pretty hard day's work we put in. [836.3s] Maybe we, maybe we duck off a little early. [839.7s] I'll go talk to Bench and we'll get the sorter for tomorrow. [842.5s] Oh, uh, cut out, cut out early. [845.8s] We haven't been through all of the allotted paperwork for today though. [852.8s] No, you're right. [853.4s] We haven't been. [854.0s] Oh, it's very true. [855.5s] Okay. [855.9s] Well, we finished up this paperwork and then second it's done, we can go, uh, [861.3s] you know, hit the town to two great gents out on the town. [866.9s] Having a great time. [868.8s] All right. [869.1s] Okay. [869.4s] Yeah, I like the sound of that. [870.8s] Okay. [871.4s] Okay. [871.9s] I love it. [872.7s] Uh, back to the paperwork and he's immediately over your shoulder. [878.1s] Five o'clock sharp. [879.1s] As soon as our workday is done, we're just going to burn rubber out of here. [885.5s] Just got like four and a half more hours to go. [887.8s] Does it work though, when you're having so much fun? [889.5s] I would, I would say not. [890.8s] Yep. [891.1s] And they closed the good, uh, gastropub. [894.0s] So like, where are they even going to go? [895.8s] Where do I have to be? [896.7s] We'll be right back. [900.8s] It's the middle. [903.6s] Everyone. [904.1s] Welcome to the middle. [905.8s] Oh, we hope you're enjoying the episodes. [907.9s] I mean, you're still here. [908.7s] So obviously you're enjoying it a little bit, right? [910.5s] We enjoyed making it. [911.5s] Yeah, it's a lot of fun. [912.5s] We did enjoy making it and we're happy you're here. [915.2s] And like fun, new vibes to start the season. [917.4s] I think so. [918.5s] Yeah. [918.8s] There's a lot of different little aspects, I mean, a lot the same, but a [922.4s] lot of different little fun aspects that are just brightening the entire thing. [928.1s] Not that I'm saying the darkest timeline was dark. [931.7s] It was called the darkest timeline for a reason. [933.6s] Let's call it a spade, a spade. [936.0s] So huge tone shift, huge tone shift. [939.3s] More levity, a little more relaxed. [943.0s] I haven't put anything up my butt yet. [945.6s] If you're new here, welcome. [950.6s] That is a reference from season two. [954.2s] And we hope that you like us enough to go over there. [957.8s] And that was a teaser. [960.9s] That sounds wrong. [961.7s] Is that a teaser or a spoiler? [963.2s] Absolutely. [963.8s] Is it a spoiler? [965.3s] Yeah, I mean, it happens pretty early on. [967.8s] It's none of them and all of them. [969.5s] Yeah, yeah, yeah. [970.9s] So it's just information. [972.6s] It's just... [973.7s] It's factual. [974.8s] Yeah, let's just sit in that for a moment. [976.6s] No, we didn't. [979.5s] And then tell you to join us over on Patreon, patreon.com slash dumb dragon [983.1s] cast, not a perfect segue to the previous statement. [987.7s] It's really hard to segue from that. [990.4s] Well, I mean, depending on your profession. [993.9s] But we have other things over on Patreon. [998.8s] Like we have another amazing show that we have a lot of fun doing. [1003.8s] Run by Tom. [1004.9s] Yeah. [1005.4s] Oh, yeah, that one once a month. [1006.8s] It's called The Adventures of and it exists in the world of the previous two [1013.8s] seasons. If you're again, new here, that's where it lives. [1017.2s] But characters who live on their own and it's amazing and it's fun. [1021.2s] And there's baking contests and there's murders and there's [1025.0s] shitting in a well, shitting in a well, lots of cheese, shitting in a well. [1057.2s] But you know what, there's incentives to stay a little bit longer. [1059.7s] Yes, there is. [1061.0s] Because starting in February 1st, we're bringing March back, baby. [1065.0s] Merch, not March. [1066.6s] We're bringing, yeah, in February, we'll come back. [1070.8s] After February, March will also come. [1072.9s] Merch is coming back to Patreon. [1176.9s] Do you love anime and D&D? [1179.6s] Well, hey, then you can check out Warlock. [1182.4s] Warlock is an exciting D&D audio drama [1185.5s] with an anime twist following the adventures of Nova Ravenwood. [1190.2s] Love that name. [1191.2s] Nova's lifelong dream is to become a [1193.5s] powerful sorcerer, just like her father and brother before her. [1197.4s] But there's a hitch. [1199.4s] She can't cast a single spell. [1203.1s] That all changes, though, when she [1205.0s] strikes a life altering bargain with a mysterious woman for power. [1210.2s] Sounds like a tale as old as time is what it does. [1213.0s] But what cost does it bring? [1215.2s] Her new powers aren't all fun and games, either, as she draws [1219.0s] the attention of the shadowy organization Foundation. [1224.0s] Look, it's a thrilling tale that asks the question, who was the first Warlock? [1230.0s] This is a question that I need answered. [1232.3s] But check it out wherever you find your [1234.9s] podcasts or visit warlockpod.com for more information. [1245.0s] There's a rumble coming from inside Everbane's from the burning forge [1249.9s] as the two crewmen who have taken their water and have headed back [1253.8s] towards the docks as you are uncrating your new shipment of Estrum. [1261.1s] Thane, you have to come look at this if you have a second. [1263.5s] Yeah, just a sec. I'm just going to put this away here. [1266.8s] Thane walks over. [1268.3s] Thane is a half elf who is approximately five and a half feet, [1275.1s] also currently dressed in like black slacks, [1280.0s] white blouse, black leather apron, shoulder length, fiery red hair [1286.2s] and deep dark blue gray eye and very sharp facial features, warm but sharp. [1294.2s] And they walk over to you and they're wiping their hands and say, [1298.6s] is that the shipment of Estrum? [1300.4s] Yeah, just got here. [1301.6s] Oh, my gosh. [1302.9s] Have you even seen it before? [1305.6s] Only just sketches of it. [1307.4s] I never. OK, let's crack it open. [1309.5s] And I'll warn you, it's not. [1313.2s] It's not a lot to look at, you know, in the crate, but [1317.8s] it's going to it's going to blow your mind what I can do with this metal. [1320.6s] OK, and I take a like a little crowbar and kind of [1325.1s] crack open the crate and like lift the lid off and as big as I thought [1330.9s] the crate was going to be, no, it's it's you just add the tiniest [1336.6s] amount to the steel and it makes it super strong. [1341.0s] I know it seems really heavy because those two and it is really heavy, [1345.2s] but this is enough for, I mean, a ton of weapons. [1349.7s] So [1351.7s] when it's diluted, it makes the weapons light and strong and sharp. [1357.2s] You can hone it really easily. [1360.2s] It holds its edge. [1361.9s] It's amazing. It's incredible. [1364.0s] I mean, it costs a pretty penny. [1365.5s] But it's it's amazing. [1369.0s] So you got it. [1370.2s] You got a job for this one. [1371.5s] Who are you making it for? [1373.0s] What are you making? [1374.0s] Well, you know, I'm making that light, delicate blade for Ignatius. [1379.3s] Oh, right. Right. Yeah. [1381.1s] I think I here I showed you the hilt, I think. [1383.2s] And it's it's it's going to be pretty ornate on the handle. [1386.5s] But the blade itself is not messing around. [1390.8s] It is going to be. [1392.2s] Well, I saw the sketches. Yeah, that's going to be amazing. [1395.0s] Yeah, it's this is a this is a killing blade. [1397.8s] This isn't just Ignatius in the in the in the business of killing. [1401.8s] What's Ignatius's job here? [1403.9s] No, Ignatius is sort of a [1408.7s] malord, fancy sort of. [1411.1s] Oh, so it's more of a look at what I have. [1414.3s] Yes, but [1417.1s] he wants the real deal and very well, you know, he's got the cash to pay for it. [1422.9s] So let's get him what he wants. [1425.3s] And it gets us this. [1426.8s] And you can you can have some of this, too, [1429.4s] to play around with if you want to, you know, work on something a little bit [1433.1s] more delicate. Oh, I love that. [1435.6s] Speaking of which, Phil down at the dock, they had pirate problems. [1439.8s] Oh, no. Their mast got busted. [1442.0s] And I said that you could probably help, you know, just with like a [1446.2s] coupling for the mast, just something iron simple. [1449.1s] But is that oh, yeah, I've got some scraps here. [1451.5s] No problem. I can whip something up. [1452.9s] I'll go, you know, I'll go down and measure it up. [1454.8s] It'll be thank you. It'll be great. [1456.7s] Take care of that. Awesome. [1458.0s] You're the best. [1459.3s] Do you need help hoisting it up there? [1461.3s] I saw those two. They were really struggling. [1463.9s] I know. [1465.0s] You know what? Honestly, it'll probably break the table. [1467.2s] So I'm just going to kind of work off what I need. [1471.2s] Got it. And yeah. [1473.0s] Oh, and I mean, of course, I know you wouldn't. [1476.8s] But maybe just don't totally mention it to everybody that I have this [1480.4s] because it is obviously pretty valuable. [1483.2s] Oh, of course. Yeah. No, mum's the word. [1485.5s] Don't worry about it. Awesome. [1486.9s] All right. I'll be back. [1487.9s] I'm going to go measure that up, [1490.2s] be back in a flash and we'll whip that up for them. [1492.9s] You're the best. [1494.4s] As Thane grabs a few things and heads out down towards the docks, [1499.5s] give us a description of Everbane's, [1503.6s] the general layout size, [1507.0s] maybe some personal items or things that you have hanging on the wall, if anything. [1513.9s] Yeah, so it's it's big. [1517.0s] It had started out pretty small, [1519.4s] like my grandfather started the forge and it was just pretty small, [1524.1s] but kind of grew and expanded. [1526.6s] And then my father took over the business and it grew and expanded. [1530.4s] So it's quite large. [1532.0s] So Thane [1534.8s] kind of rents over half of the space [1538.2s] in the shop doing sort of like, you know, horseshoes and sort of less finesse work. [1545.3s] And then I have sort of a smaller workshop that's sectioned off. [1550.0s] Everything else is quite open, of course, because we're flames and anvils. [1554.0s] And, you know, it's hot and loud. [1556.3s] But I do have sort of a small office [1558.4s] in the back where I do my sketches and I tinker with things and try [1561.8s] and figure out how to make these specialized weapons that I make. [1567.1s] There isn't like a storefront or anything [1569.9s] so much because everything is is custom. [1573.0s] I love that. We we pull back out of Everbane's here and a couple of people [1579.4s] walk by and give a holler in, hey, Bonwyn, how you doing? [1583.5s] Hey, I'm good. How are you? [1585.5s] Trying to scrape up some more work. [1587.5s] They just bumped up the taxes. [1588.9s] Oh, I know. [1590.3s] It's unbelievable. [1592.1s] Like at some point, you just can't get more blood from a stone. [1597.7s] Right. And I heard they shut down three more shops in the district. [1601.1s] Yeah. Let's maybe a fewer gold statues and more. [1605.6s] This is going to sound crazy. [1607.6s] I don't know. Schools. [1609.5s] Yeah, schools. [1611.2s] Clean up the sidewalks, get some people enough food to eat. [1615.0s] It's it's, you know, I know that, you know. [1618.0s] All right. Well, you have a good one. [1619.2s] I'm going to go try and [1621.4s] make something [1624.4s] with nobody having any money. [1625.6s] It's hard to do that. [1626.6s] And it just kind of fades off into the noise of the block. [1633.7s] Cut back to Alydin [1637.2s] and you are laying in your your makeshift bunk [1642.2s] and you hear a rattle of cans, [1646.8s] which is one of my yes, my trip, your perimeter alarms, security system. [1653.7s] Everybody in the space, all the kids [1656.0s] in the space and tally all shh, everybody quiet [1660.3s] and everybody kind of moves back to the shadows. [1663.5s] What do you do? [1664.8s] I think that [1667.4s] upon hearing the cans, there is like a routine. [1672.4s] There's a planned reaction for that. [1674.4s] So I think what [1678.1s] Alydin and Tally would do would be whispering to the others, [1682.3s] get in your position, which is just to hide for the rest of them. [1686.6s] And [1688.8s] Alydin [1690.8s] puts her back to the wall with the door to her left and just waits. [1697.4s] Hand on her bucket. [1700.6s] That's right. [1702.8s] It's also a weapon over my dead bucket. [1706.8s] I mean, body, you hear some heavy footsteps coming into the stable, [1712.6s] the back of the stable, you hear them kick over some some wood [1717.6s] crates that just crumple to the ground. [1720.1s] Sounds like they're whoever's back there. [1723.3s] There's low grumbling conversation. [1726.8s] You can't quite make out what they're saying, [1729.2s] but sounds like they're rooting around and looking for something. [1732.9s] You position yourself if you would like, you can move closer to try and hear. [1737.3s] Oh, yeah. [1738.2s] If there's one thing that Alydin likes to do, it's eavesdrop. [1742.2s] So she for sure sneaks up all sneaky, sneaky and [1747.5s] wants to hear if there's anything juicy to listen to and make a stealth role. [1754.6s] I mean, information is its own form [1756.6s] of currency, so if you can get something to help you out, absolutely. [1762.3s] Ten, I had a plus three and everything. [1765.2s] Ten's not bad. [1766.2s] Well, ten's fine. [1768.8s] Ten's fine, we're low level. [1770.9s] That was episode one, OK? [1772.6s] I know that was that's in the past, Amy. [1775.2s] One time deal. [1777.8s] OK, yeah, you move forward. [1780.8s] You are reasonably silent. [1783.8s] You're not drawing attention to yourself. [1785.6s] And as you move closer, the grumble conversation becomes clear. [1790.0s] And you hear a gruff male and female talking back and forth. [1798.2s] Kenny sent us out here and said there's an easy access point to get into the underground. [1804.6s] This place hasn't been used in years. [1807.0s] I see the kids walking around here every now and again. [1811.0s] You see anything over there? [1812.5s] It's just crates. There's nothing here. [1814.8s] Yeah, no, like it's a stable. [1817.2s] Why would they put an underground department in a state? [1821.3s] Yeah, I think the intel's bad because, yeah, it just doesn't make sense. [1825.8s] Hey, you hear that? [1827.8s] Hmm, probably just a rat. [1830.1s] Yeah. [1831.7s] Yeah, it's just a rat. [1833.8s] You, PAlydin, hear one of their footsteps begin moving closer [1839.5s] to an entryway where you're very near to. [1843.6s] You hear their breath on the other side, and as they're peering in, [1848.2s] you see just the shadow of them emanating through and into the space. [1854.4s] You're [1855.7s] curled up and tucked away. [1857.8s] Yeah, I'm flat against the wall. [1861.0s] Crouched down. [1863.4s] Just holding my breath. [1867.6s] And looking around to see [1870.3s] if all the kids are well hidden. [1874.5s] Check that corner over there once more, and then we'll be gone. [1880.2s] Anything over there? [1882.8s] No, just some old sacks. [1884.6s] I don't know. Let's go back. [1886.2s] There's no underground caverns out here. [1888.8s] That's all back in the main district. [1891.1s] Nothing connects this far out. [1893.8s] All right, back to the shop. [1896.9s] The footsteps carry back off. [1900.4s] Alydin [1902.4s] waits until she's sure that they're gone and just follows them a little bit [1910.2s] down the street to make sure that they're not doing a whole double back [1913.4s] thing, because she's stupid. [1916.1s] And when she's sure that they have gone and decided to give up on this [1923.6s] pursuit, goes back in and [1927.3s] gives her a little like, I need to figure out the fucking whistle, [1930.4s] because I'm just like, [1935.3s] make it just a Hunger Games thing if you want. [1941.9s] But yes, something like that. [1943.1s] I'll figure it out, you guys. [1944.3s] We'll listen to bird calls is what we'll do. [1946.9s] Here you go. There we go. [1948.2s] Yeah, simple bird calls. [1950.7s] Simple bird calls, you know. [1953.8s] Just a warbler or whatever. [1957.6s] Probably a blue-footed booby, because, you know, it's us. [1961.2s] So, guys, guys. [1964.0s] Yeah, come out, come out. It's safe. [1966.0s] OK, are they gone? [1969.7s] Those are two of Kinney's [1973.0s] dumber bruisers over there. [1975.6s] And they were looking for some underground tunnels. [1979.6s] Underground tunnels? [1980.6s] Do you think they're going to come back? [1982.1s] I don't think so. [1983.5s] There's no tunnels out here. [1984.9s] You guys did a really great job of hiding. [1987.2s] So I don't think they're going to come back. [1989.6s] Thanks. Yeah. [1990.9s] Thanks. It was really scary. [1993.1s] I used that spot you showed me yesterday. [1995.5s] Well, good. And thank you for making sure there wasn't someone in there first. [2000.6s] It was weird last time. [2002.2s] Too many people, one space. [2003.9s] One barrel can only hold one person. [2005.9s] Remember, one barrel, one person, one barrel, one person. [2009.4s] So I think we should look around [2011.6s] for this, because they didn't actually try real hard. [2014.1s] And we haven't been in this spot for a super long time. [2018.6s] Have you guys been exploring anywhere in here? [2021.2s] A little bit, but you find anything? [2024.1s] Not. Yeah, but we haven't checked everywhere. [2026.7s] Like there could be. [2028.5s] That'd be pretty cool. [2029.7s] I wasn't looking for underground tunnels. [2032.3s] New priority. [2033.3s] OK, we need to find if there is a hidden trap door somewhere, [2037.8s] because if there is a tunnel system that can connect us to the main town. [2043.4s] Oh, our life just got a whole lot easier. [2046.0s] OK, underground tunnels. [2048.4s] Let's go. Let's go, everybody. [2049.5s] Let's find some underground tunnels. [2050.6s] This is going to be really cool. [2052.1s] Tally, get the candles. [2053.7s] OK, I'll go get the candles. [2056.2s] Tally runs off. [2057.5s] Everybody scatters as they begin to look [2060.8s] underneath bales of straw. [2064.0s] There's barrels everywhere, [2065.3s] there's sacks of grain that have fallen over that are moldy. [2068.7s] Probably a wheelbarrow of some sort of some sort. [2079.6s] We hear the door open of the Brewed Awakening, which is entirely empty. [2087.2s] There's a big sign up on it says out of business, [2090.7s] which has been just crudely painted [2092.7s] onto this sign slapped up over the front glass. [2096.8s] And inside, on top of the bar, is Bench Ripley doing a set of push ups. [2105.1s] 842, 843, 844, 845, 845. [2113.6s] I mean, Bench, wow, that's that's a really high number. [2117.7s] Oh, yeah, well, there's not much to do with the business clothes. [2120.4s] So I just sit here pumping the iron and pumping my muscles up. [2123.9s] Just waiting either any any news on the opening the Brewed Awakening? [2129.3s] Oh, yeah. OK, a couple of updates on that front. [2133.3s] They said they gave you three warnings. [2135.2s] Oh, yeah, they gave me the warnings, but the warnings. [2139.6s] Yeah, the warnings came the same day that the taxes were due. [2142.3s] How was I supposed to get it together? [2143.9s] OK, yeah, like it was like memo, taxes, memo. [2147.1s] You missed them. Come on, man. [2148.7s] Yeah, it seems [2150.6s] I don't know how they're running things here. [2152.7s] It's definitely not what I'm used to. [2156.4s] That's for sure. But a couple of solutions for you. [2159.9s] One is you pay the taxes. [2163.1s] We owe them. [2165.6s] They'll look at reinstating you. [2168.2s] Sounds like it's a bit of a permitting process because you let it lapse. [2171.5s] It's a whole paperwork thing. [2173.7s] Second option, I go get Oak. [2177.4s] I bring him here. [2179.4s] You ply him with some drinks while you're closed. [2182.4s] Yes, no paying customers tonight. [2185.6s] And maybe we get some sort of expedited [2187.8s] paperwork thing through the system ASAP tomorrow. [2190.7s] Well, if you think that would work, [2192.4s] I mean, I'm more than happy to do that, to play the game. [2195.2s] I mean, I don't know, but worth a shot, right? [2198.5s] Yeah, no, that's absolutely. [2199.8s] I mean, I have the taxes. [2201.0s] They just don't take them. [2202.3s] So they just shut down the business so we can have Oak here. [2205.7s] You bring him here. [2206.6s] We have the drinks. [2208.2s] We have the fun. [2209.1s] We say, hey, maybe a business. [2210.9s] I mean, that's the plan. [2212.0s] But yeah, we'll see. [2213.4s] I think I think he'll be a lot more agreeable [2216.4s] once I get him away from from the mayor's place there. [2219.8s] OK, this sounds like a great plan. [2221.7s] You go get Oak and I will get the drinks ready. [2225.6s] And we will maybe plan some whodunit questions. [2228.9s] Perfect. [2229.8s] What do games do to play? [2232.1s] OK, I will figure that later. [2234.9s] That bench goes back into the kitchen [2236.6s] as Cav heads out to get Oak and we prepare for guys night. [2354.0s] Motors don't exist in this world. [2355.8s] Nina's the glue that makes sense. [2358.4s] We said the glue keeps the motor running. [2363.4s] Yeah, that's the part of it. [2365.0s] It doesn't make sense. [2365.8s] Wait a minute. [2366.2s] Motors don't exist here. [2370.0s] Otherwise, perfect. [2372.0s] I don't know why my mind is breaking down. [2382.6s] Everybody scatters as they begin to look [2385.8s] underneath bales of straw and [2389.8s] other things that are found in an abandoned. [2391.8s] Fuck, I'm terrible at this game. [2396.6s] You just gotta shake the rust off. [2398.2s] I can describe things. [2399.2s] You can. [2400.0s] I believe in you. [2401.2s] I've been in barns and they kind of are. [2404.0s] They really are. [2405.0s] Yep, it's just kind of catch-all, right? [2407.6s] There's like some wire. [2409.8s] There's like, yeah, there's barrels [2412.2s] everywhere, sacks of grain that have [2414.2s] fallen over that are moldy. [2416.0s] Probably a wheelbarrow of some sort. [2422.2s] Love it. [2422.8s] They're looking under all of that stuff. [2424.4s] Dumbgeons and Dragons is a Dumb Dragons production.
