[0.0s] Previously on Dumbgeons and Dragons. [61.0s] Yeah, it's fine. [74.0s] Ha! Ha! [87.0s] We're gonna need better disguises. [89.0s] Yeah. [90.0s] I'm kind of digging this sun hat. [92.0s] The sun hat does look great. [94.0s] It does change your look. [116.0s] Welcome to Dumbgeons and Dragons. [118.0s] This is D&D 5th Edition Actual Play Podcast. [120.0s] And I'm your Dungeon Master, Russ More. [122.0s] And with me today is Tom Laird. [124.0s] Yeah, that's me. I play Moot. [126.0s] And Amy More. [128.0s] That's me. I play Sullivan Slate. [130.0s] And Karla Maxted. [132.0s] That's me. I play Narixious Akra. [135.0s] But you are my friend, so you can call me Glim. [138.0s] Aw, thanks. [140.0s] How's everybody doing tonight? [142.0s] Oh, so good. [143.0s] Good. [144.0s] Yeah, doing great. [145.0s] I can't wait to steal some stuff. [146.0s] You know when you just feel like stealing? [148.0s] Ready to get to thieving. [149.0s] Ooh, it's a caper. [151.0s] Right? [152.0s] Ready to just be in well over our level two heads. [155.0s] Let's do it. [156.0s] You guys are still level twos? [158.0s] How did that happen? [159.0s] Remember when Tom was like, [160.0s] were we supposed to level up and you laughed? [162.0s] You laughed. [163.0s] He really did laugh. [164.0s] This sinister laugh. [165.0s] Yeah, so hard. [167.0s] I laughed so hard. [168.0s] Then he said something about... [169.0s] Episode 50, we're still level two. [170.0s] You'll never live long enough to see level three. [172.0s] I don't know. It was very disconcerting. [174.0s] He mumbled it. [175.0s] Under his breath, yeah. [176.0s] Yeah, we're going through a harsh rebrand. [179.0s] Again? [180.0s] Where we never make it past level two. [183.0s] As soon as you're on that XP cusp, nix. [186.0s] CPK, got it. [188.0s] But where you can stop that from happening is over on Patreon. [191.0s] Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [193.0s] If you join us over there, [194.0s] hey, we're only two patrons away from our next goal, [197.0s] which is not to nix these three characters, [200.0s] but also to have me sing a whole bunch of really great D&D songs. [204.0s] I can't wait for the full version of Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe. [210.0s] Yeah, that's going to be good. [211.0s] If you're not aware, because maybe you're not a patron, [214.0s] well, over on Patreon, I run a game every month [217.0s] where Russ and Carla and Amy all play, [220.0s] and Russ plays a tabaxi bard named Opal, [222.0s] and his singing has come up from time to time, [225.0s] so this will really be a deep dive into the catalog [228.0s] after this next Patreon goal. [230.0s] Some world-saving songs. [231.0s] Really is. [232.0s] I think all those songs, I think only ever world was saved [237.0s] when I was singing a song, so. [239.0s] Fair. [240.0s] I mean, we'll have to go back and check the tape, [242.0s] but I'm pretty sure that's how it played out. [244.0s] When you are a patron, you get an episode dedicated to you as well, [247.0s] and today's patron is Still the Ghost. [252.0s] Thanks, Still the Ghost. [253.0s] Ooh, spooky. [255.0s] Too scary for Carla. [257.0s] Unfinished business. [259.0s] I have a question. [260.0s] Is it, like, Still the Ghost, like, stop that ghost from moving, [263.0s] or is it Still the Ghost, like, I am still the ghost. [267.0s] I took it that way. [268.0s] I continue to be the ghost. [270.0s] Yeah, that's the way I took it, too. [271.0s] Because it's my unfinished business here on Earth, [272.0s] but you're right. [273.0s] I had it be, like, you stop that ghost from moving. [275.0s] I mean, it's all one word, so it really could be [277.0s] Still the Ghost. [281.0s] Still T-Ghost. [283.0s] Still T-Ghost. [284.0s] Oh. [285.0s] Like, who is T-Ghost? [286.0s] Right? [287.0s] Who knows? [289.0s] Anyways, Patreon.com's... [291.0s] Sorry. [292.0s] What a fun little mystery that name is, I know. [294.0s] Still T-Ghost. [297.0s] Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [299.0s] Save these lovely little characters and also get an episode dedicated to you. [303.0s] And now... [304.0s] No pressure. [305.0s] This is very ominous. [307.0s] Fuck it, let's play D&D. [310.0s] Anybody else feel like... [311.0s] Fuck it, I'm gonna kill everybody. [312.0s] We got nothing to lose now. [313.0s] Absolutely. [315.0s] If I had spells, I'd be burning spells left right in the center. [318.0s] If Amy had more of those acid scrolls... [321.0s] Exactly. [322.0s] We're about to die anyway, so let's go for it. [325.0s] Right? [327.0s] I feel like Glim was kind of playing like it was her last day on Earth anyway [332.0s] with all her burning... [333.0s] A little bit. [334.0s] ...lighting people on fire and stuff, so let's just see. [337.0s] You did not hold back. [338.0s] Let's see what happens. [340.0s] We join back with Mook Glim and Sully, and it's the next day [343.0s] after they've handed off Layden Menda's scroll to a stranger in the night on the docks. [349.0s] You're going over the note from Sharmy, reading it again and again [352.0s] to make sure that you get the details down pat. [355.0s] And you are supposed to be acquiring certain items. [359.0s] First, a circlet with runes in Infernal and red and green writing. [364.0s] Six alchemical jugs with the sign of Dagon on it. [368.0s] And various herbs from Aglarond, Dream Flake, Sutara, Goji Leaves, Sticks Root. [375.0s] It also gives you the details that you are to track down a ship from Aglarond [380.0s] that should be carrying all of these items. [385.0s] Hey, does anyone know what the flag of Agarond looks like? [389.0s] I think it's two lions that are face to face. [394.0s] I see one over there that they're facing the opposite direction, but it doesn't... [399.0s] Maybe I have it wrong. [401.0s] One's on top of the other one too. [403.0s] It's an interesting flag. [405.0s] And it's on that checker background. [407.0s] It's blue and white, and then two lions face to face, and then a star in the sky. [411.0s] It's quite... [413.0s] It's quite striking visually. [415.0s] That's involved. It's real busy. [417.0s] It's a little... there's a lot going on. [419.0s] I don't know a lot about design, [421.0s] but it seems like they were really trying to get it all on the flag. [426.0s] So we should be able to spot that if they're flying the flag. [431.0s] Oh yeah, I totally think so. [433.0s] Shall we walk down the docks and just see what we can see? [437.0s] Let's see what we can see without having to ask. [440.0s] I feel like it might be suspicious if we ask about a ship [443.0s] and then something goes missing from said ship. [446.0s] Agreed. [448.0s] Yeah, that's absolutely correct. [450.0s] You don't want to say, I'm going to steal, [453.0s] because people will expect things to go missing and then also know it was you. [458.0s] Exactly. [460.0s] Can I roll a perception check to see if I see this beautiful flag we have designed? [465.0s] This beautiful, busy, busy flag? [468.0s] Yes, as you walk out of the inn and tavern that you are in, [472.0s] make a perception check please. [478.0s] Twelve. [481.0s] That is better than what I rolled. [483.0s] That's also better than what I rolled. [486.0s] Three. [487.0s] Oh, I had seven. [489.0s] The three of you walk out of the skunky monkey into the street [493.0s] and back down toward the dock. [496.0s] And as you're walking back down the street, [499.0s] you look to a bulletin board that's on the way. [504.0s] And before you get down to the dock, you see your image and Moot's image [512.0s] under the sign wanted for the maiming and debilitation of two civilians. [520.0s] Oh. [522.0s] Oh, Glim. [524.0s] We should get a disguise or something. [527.0s] What do you guys need a disguise for? [529.0s] What do you... [532.0s] Yeah, this isn't... [534.0s] I mean, I stand by what I did, but this isn't great. [538.0s] This is really refreshing. [540.0s] My face isn't even on there. [542.0s] Well, because you were hiding under a blanket the whole time. [545.0s] Well, yeah, fair enough. [547.0s] I mean, it was very important. [552.0s] Okay, yeah, we got to get you guys maybe some disguises. [557.0s] Yeah, I think that's a good idea. [559.0s] I can wear this robe, but I don't know if that's a great disguise. [565.0s] Maybe we could just go and I could find, you know, [568.0s] like some sort of fun chapeau and that would throw people off. [575.0s] I mean, I'm sort of hard to disguise. [577.0s] I'm very large and I'm, you know... [580.0s] Yeah, all colorful is the problem. [582.0s] Hold on one second. [584.0s] I want to pop back into the tavern that we had come from. [588.0s] And I want to like sneakily gather soot from the fireplace [592.0s] because every tavern has a fireplace. [594.0s] There certainly will be a fireplace. [596.0s] Yes. [597.0s] Okay. [598.0s] I want to do that. [599.0s] Also, I'm delighted there's no homeless people in this... [601.0s] I mean, are you trying to be stealthy or are you just going in [604.0s] and taking soot from a fireplace? [606.0s] I want to go in and be a little stealthy, [608.0s] but like I don't want to raise suspicion. [610.0s] Like that would be weird. [612.0s] Also, did I have a big floppy sun hat last time? [615.0s] You did. [616.0s] I feel like I'm going to keep wearing that. [618.0s] Okay. [619.0s] Yeah. [620.0s] Yeah, we did end with... [622.0s] I think I like the sun hat. [624.0s] All right. [625.0s] Well, that's a 14. [627.0s] It's not super busy, but yeah, you can actually absolutely go in [630.0s] and take soot from the fireplace without raising too much suspicion. [633.0s] Yeah, I just kind of like scoop some of it [636.0s] into a little leather bag that I have and exit. [640.0s] And I come out and I say, here, bend down, bend down. [644.0s] And I take some soot and I start to rub it all over Glim's face, [648.0s] dulling the shine and glisten of her blue or her brilliant scales. [654.0s] You don't even know what color scale is going on. [657.0s] No, I'm very sorry. [658.0s] It's kind of like bronze. [660.0s] I said blue, they're not. [662.0s] They're like titanium... [664.0s] What are they? [665.0s] It's like a reddish bronze? [667.0s] Yeah. [668.0s] Shut up. [669.0s] Listen, go fuck yourself. [671.0s] It's an audio medium. [673.0s] Yeah, God, I'm not... [675.0s] You have to paint the picture if it's blue. [677.0s] I have a really hard... [678.0s] No, OK, I take it all back. [680.0s] I say, come here, bend down. [682.0s] And then I start to soot her face and I use that as a verb [688.0s] and dull her bronze scales. [691.0s] What do you want us to roll to see if this works? [695.0s] Is she a master of disguises? [697.0s] Are you a master of disguises? [700.0s] Only a master of being sneaky. [703.0s] What does... [705.0s] I say it would be like performance, putting on makeup. [710.0s] Performance would be on Glim's part. [713.0s] You're trying to... [715.0s] I think it would be probably more sleight of hand. [718.0s] That's OK with me. [719.0s] I mean, that works. [721.0s] Yeah, sleight of hand on your part. [723.0s] OK. [725.0s] Well, that's a 20, not natural. [729.0s] Absolutely. [731.0s] Whatever you want Glim to look like with soot, she now looks like. [735.0s] Yeah, I am just... [737.0s] I'm essentially darkening her scales so she doesn't shine so brightly [741.0s] and attract attention to herself. [743.0s] OK. [745.0s] Wow, you're so good at this. [746.0s] Have you ever... [747.0s] You must have had a job doing this before. [749.0s] I feel like I look totally different and like... [753.0s] I mean, I'm still a Dragonborn, but not like a glossy kind of one. [759.0s] Like a more rough and tumble kind of. [761.0s] That's exactly what I'm going for. [764.0s] Well, yes, I was... [767.0s] I did work in a make-up-ery for a while [770.0s] where we would make up different stories for people [773.0s] and then change them into those different types of people. [776.0s] Oh, so what's the story for me? [778.0s] I said rough and tumble, was I right? [780.0s] Is that what you were going for? [781.0s] Oh, absolutely. [782.0s] You know what? [783.0s] You probably grew up on the streets. [785.0s] Yeah, you've seen some hardship. [787.0s] So if I grew up on the streets, what would my name be? [789.0s] Because Glim doesn't really make sense if I'm not shiny anymore. [794.0s] So now... [797.0s] I am... [800.0s] What do you think? [802.0s] When you're make-up-ery experience, what would be a good name for me? [804.0s] Oh, well, fair enough. [805.0s] Well, I mean, people like... [807.0s] You know, you're a street urchin, right? [809.0s] Like you're living on... [810.0s] You probably have a nickname. [812.0s] Your mother probably didn't even care about you enough [814.0s] to give you a real name. [815.0s] Like maybe you're like Slim. [817.0s] Oh, I like it. [820.0s] Yeah, Slim. [822.0s] Okay. [823.0s] Yeah, Slim. [824.0s] A little dangerous. [825.0s] That's who I am now. [826.0s] Yeah. [827.0s] Yeah, I grew up on the streets. [828.0s] My mom didn't even love me. [829.0s] And I've been totally alone my whole life. [832.0s] Gosh, this is actually like a really sad kind of story. [835.0s] Well, yeah, it's okay, but it's not actually really you. [838.0s] Yeah, okay. [839.0s] Also, I don't think Slim's found Bahamut yet. [842.0s] Oh, God. [843.0s] I made it even sadder. [845.0s] Oh, yeah, Bahamut would probably be a dead giveaway. [848.0s] Yeah, so you can't go spouting all your awesomeness about Bahamut. [853.0s] Okay. [854.0s] Just when you are Slim. [857.0s] That's a glim thing. [858.0s] Right. [859.0s] Okay? [860.0s] You gotta just be sneaky, inconspicuous. [864.0s] I wonder what deity Slim would follow. [867.0s] Okay. [868.0s] I want to think about that, but... [869.0s] Okay, do you guys... [870.0s] What do you guys think? [871.0s] Do I look... [872.0s] Do I look different? [874.0s] I mean, if I didn't know any better, I would think so. [877.0s] Absolutely. [878.0s] Okay. [879.0s] And you've got that hat, so like... [881.0s] It's fucking gorgeous, man. [882.0s] I just love the floppy brim. [884.0s] Well, now it's so bright out, it's probably like really coming in handy. [889.0s] It's super handy. [890.0s] It keeps the sun right out of my eyes. [892.0s] You hear the armored footsteps of helm guards from down the street [898.0s] coming from behind you and moving towards the direction of the dock. [903.0s] I guess we'll move out of the way. [906.0s] When I move out of the way, you notice that I'm like kind of walking with a slight limp. [912.0s] Glim's decided Slim, probably. [914.0s] It's like, it's been a hard life, probably. [916.0s] Yeah. [917.0s] Isn't. [918.0s] Some deep character work she's doing. [920.0s] I like she's really embodying this whole... [922.0s] Really getting into it. [923.0s] I really like it. [924.0s] All right. [925.0s] From Glim or Slim and Moot, who we haven't come up with a new name for yet. [931.0s] Suddenly someone goes, you're Boot. [935.0s] As the armored soldiers come to your location, make a performance roll. [942.0s] Do I have to perform anything? [944.0s] They're not looking for me. [945.0s] They're not looking for you, no. [947.0s] That's a 22. [949.0s] Performance, okay. [952.0s] It's a 19. [953.0s] You guys are so good. [955.0s] You strike a pose as your new selves. [958.0s] I feel like I hunch over a little bit and I grab Slim's arm and I say, [964.0s] Can you help me across the street, sweetie? [974.0s] Well, I mean, I wouldn't normally do that, but I guess you do seem pretty weak and pathetic, so let's go. [981.0s] Oh, thanks, dearie. [983.0s] You guys are nailing this. [986.0s] The helm guards move past you as the scene is playing out. [991.0s] And as Sully says, you guys are really nailing this, one of them kind of stops and turns and looks. [997.0s] Just keep helping this... [999.0s] Yeah, and I really like... [1001.0s] Kindly old lady across the street. [1002.0s] Really struggle with my walking. [1003.0s] They're kind of just scanning over the situation as it plays out [1008.0s] and then begin moving back down towards the dock. [1012.0s] All right, now where... [1014.0s] Where to now, guys? [1017.0s] Well, I guess we should go down to the dock and see if we can see that flag and then maybe find the ship. [1022.0s] Yeah, it's a good idea. [1024.0s] And I guess let's all just keep our eyes peeled in case any more guards come around. [1029.0s] I mean, it's a really good disguise. [1031.0s] I don't think anyone's going to realize who we really are, that we're not Slim and Boot, [1035.0s] but just in case, we'll keep our eyes peeled. [1039.0s] OK, sounds good. [1040.0s] Also, we should probably stop talking about it. [1044.0s] Right. [1045.0s] Yeah, we shouldn't mention being Slim and Boot anymore. [1048.0s] Yeah, yeah, so like, stop it. [1052.0s] We flash forward down to the dock and it's... [1056.0s] Two hours later because Boot insisted on walking like a granny the whole way to keep up character. [1062.0s] Only when the guards are around. [1064.0s] The slight limp, though, from Slim is really slowing us down. [1067.0s] You notice that guard presence is increased from the day previous. [1072.0s] I wonder why. [1073.0s] With your rolls, you've managed to make it all the way down to the dock. [1078.0s] And activity has picked back up again. [1080.0s] It's as busy as it was yesterday when you arrived with the number of ships coming and going and offloading. [1089.0s] Let's pick back up. [1091.0s] What's your first... [1093.0s] So the dock is quite long as far as the city goes. [1099.0s] It wraps right around the coastline. [1102.0s] The dock where you are located is kind of in the middle of the city, [1108.0s] but it extends out down the entire run of the city. [1112.0s] So for at least a couple of kilometers of dock. [1117.0s] In either direction from where we are or in total? [1120.0s] Total. [1121.0s] Okay. [1122.0s] So what's the plan when we find the ship? [1126.0s] Because we can't just go and ask for these things, can we? [1130.0s] No, probably not. [1133.0s] I guess we like watch and observe and see like when the guards switch off or any weaknesses in their defenses. [1143.0s] Or see if maybe they're just like unloading things to sell. [1147.0s] I guess we don't know if the things will still be on the ship or... [1151.0s] So I say find the ship, watch the ship. [1154.0s] Well, you know what? We get on a caravan. [1157.0s] We can probably do the exact same thing with a ship. [1160.0s] Just be like, you looking for some extra hands? [1163.0s] That's a really good point. [1164.0s] And have them hire us and pay us to steal from them. [1167.0s] But what if they were leaving? [1171.0s] Then we need to steal all this stuff and jump off the boat? [1176.0s] Well, it depends where they're going. [1178.0s] Huh. [1180.0s] I mean, we have to get back, don't we? [1182.0s] Do we have a deadline? [1183.0s] I feel like we have to get back pretty quick or... [1185.0s] Well, it's... [1186.0s] I think we just have to get back. [1188.0s] Yeah. [1189.0s] I don't really know if there was like a time frame for it. [1192.0s] Sully, you were the one that signed the deal. [1194.0s] Do you remember any of that? [1196.0s] No. [1197.0s] We just need to come back. [1199.0s] And if we fuck her over, she will know. [1204.0s] Oh, I wasn't suggesting that. [1206.0s] I was getting it confused with the scroll. [1208.0s] There's a very tight timeline. [1210.0s] Oh, yeah, easy to mix those up. [1212.0s] No. [1213.0s] Like, I don't think that we should dilly dally or anything like that. [1216.0s] But I mean, it's probably a good idea to do things in a safe way. [1221.0s] And probably the less time we spend in this town, the better. [1224.0s] I mean, they are actively looking for us. [1226.0s] Yeah, I'd like to get out of this town as soon as we could. [1229.0s] I don't really like seeing my face on wanted posters. [1233.0s] I don't really like seeing my face on anything. [1235.0s] I'm sort of, you know... [1237.0s] I don't mind being in front of people in real life, [1239.0s] but up on a big billboard or something, [1241.0s] that seems like a terrible idea. [1245.0s] Well, left or right, guys, what do you think? [1249.0s] I mean, if they dock alphabetically, [1251.0s] then they'd be over to the left. [1254.0s] But I don't think that's how dogs work. [1256.0s] Or maybe it's by name of ship, if it's alphabetically. [1259.0s] And we don't know what the ship... [1260.0s] Do we know what the ship's named, Sully? [1262.0s] No, we don't know the name of the ship. [1264.0s] We just know that it's come from Aglarond. [1270.0s] OK, I don't know, left? [1273.0s] Sure, let's go left. [1276.0s] All right, everybody, as you're hunting and searching [1281.0s] and looking through ships and combing through people [1284.0s] and trying to pick up on phrases or anything like that, [1288.0s] make an investigation roll, please. [1292.0s] Well, that was a one. [1294.0s] Ooh, that's fun. [1295.0s] I'm so busy being swim. [1297.0s] I can't even pay attention to anything else. [1299.0s] A 13 for me, Russ. [1302.0s] OK, you managed to walk down to the far end of the dock, [1307.0s] walking all the way down to the east end of the dock. [1311.0s] Glim, you are very wrapped up in being slim, [1315.0s] perhaps to a fault at this point, [1318.0s] but so much so that you certainly haven't been noticed [1321.0s] by any of the helmed guards patrolling the dock, [1325.0s] bumping past you, walking around and down the docks [1329.0s] and up and through the streets of the city. [1331.0s] Sully and Moot, you don't see the ship walking down [1337.0s] to the east end here. [1339.0s] You overhear a dockhand quickly talking to someone, [1344.0s] looking like they're trying to settle up an order, [1349.0s] saying that a ship, what you hear is a small goblin [1358.0s] who's missing a left hand. [1360.0s] He's got a big sword on his back and carries a clipboard. [1364.0s] He's talking to a human male and he says, [1370.0s] yeah, ship from Aglaron with a whole bunch of different things, [1375.0s] herbs, chemicals, all that sort of stuff. [1377.0s] It's going to be coming in later tonight, [1380.0s] probably down other end of the dock there. [1384.0s] Hey, you guys, we got to turn around. [1389.0s] We went the wrong way, but we went the right way [1391.0s] because we just heard some information just right now, [1393.0s] but we went the wrong way because it's going to be [1395.0s] at the other end of the dock. [1397.0s] Oh, OK. [1399.0s] But later tonight. [1401.0s] OK. [1403.0s] So let's walk down there and maybe like lay low, [1407.0s] get a bite to eat at a tavern or something [1412.0s] and then OK, come back out when it's dark [1419.0s] or when the boat's there. [1421.0s] I don't know. [1424.0s] As the three of you turn to walk back down [1426.0s] the other end of the dock, you hear the same voice [1429.0s] call out and be like, hey, you tree, [1431.0s] you look like you're lost. [1433.0s] What are you doing down here? [1435.0s] We were just looking to see if anybody needs [1439.0s] a couple hands for help on the ship. [1444.0s] But then we looked at all these ships [1446.0s] and we decided we're going to go check out [1448.0s] the other side of the dock. [1449.0s] What's wrong with these ships? [1450.0s] These ships are very important. [1451.0s] They got a whole bunch of really great stuff on them. [1453.0s] Well, I mean, that's great and everything, [1455.0s] but I mean, sometimes really important stuff [1457.0s] is really heavy. [1458.0s] And let's face it, like, you know, [1460.0s] we're working for pennies over here. [1462.0s] I don't want to be lifting gold bars. [1464.0s] Yeah, we're looking. [1465.0s] Is there any flower deliveries coming in or? [1468.0s] Flower like flowers, anything that's like. [1471.0s] Yeah, not bags of flowers, [1473.0s] because that would be really heavy. [1474.0s] Yeah. [1475.0s] What my friend means is like roses, daffodils, daisies. [1480.0s] I used to be a flower ologist. [1482.0s] I know a lot about them. [1484.0s] This goblin looks down to their clipboard [1487.0s] reaches with their left hand, which is missing. [1491.0s] Every time, every time I go to flip the page, [1494.0s] the arm's not there. [1497.0s] He switches and kind of props it up in his hand [1500.0s] and flips the pages. [1502.0s] Well, there's some stuff. [1505.0s] There's some, I don't know, you want to lift light stuff. [1508.0s] People don't generally hire for light stuff. [1511.0s] Well, yeah, I know. [1512.0s] It's just, you know what, too? [1514.0s] There's also a tavern on the other side of the docks [1517.0s] over there about, you know, a little ways down. [1521.0s] It's got the best eats. [1523.0s] Well, it really does. [1525.0s] Yeah. [1526.0s] Lucy's. [1527.0s] Yeah, Lucy's. [1528.0s] Lucy's slurptuous scrumsh diner. [1534.0s] Is that how you say it? [1535.0s] I could never quite read it, because it's, [1537.0s] there's a lot of consonants. [1539.0s] Lucy's slurptuous scrumsh diner. [1542.0s] That's the one. [1543.0s] Yeah. [1544.0s] Yeah, with the, the one with the soup, right? [1546.0s] That real good fish soup. [1548.0s] It's so slurpy. [1550.0s] It's a chowder. [1551.0s] Yeah. [1552.0s] Now that I hear you say the name out loud, [1554.0s] it makes a lot of sense. [1555.0s] Yeah, for sure. [1556.0s] Um, so we're probably going to go down there, [1558.0s] grab a bite to eat, and then to, like, [1560.0s] see what's coming in in the evening, you know? [1562.0s] Cool, yeah, that sounds really great. [1564.0s] Because I mean, working in the sun, too. [1566.0s] I know. [1567.0s] It's really just, it just wears down on you. [1569.0s] I wasn't even supposed to be working here. [1571.0s] Where are you supposed to be working? [1573.0s] Well, I mean, I ended up here. [1575.0s] I was, I was out adventuring, you know, [1577.0s] with a group. [1580.0s] Got this chopped off. [1582.0s] Dang, man. [1583.0s] That fucking sucks. [1584.0s] Yeah. [1585.0s] Like in some, in some kind of battle or something. [1587.0s] Cool, right? [1588.0s] Yeah, it's battles. [1589.0s] Cool. [1590.0s] That's where I got it chopped off, [1592.0s] and that's... [1594.0s] Sharpened my blade. [1595.0s] But, um, yeah, it's, um, [1597.0s] very cool how I got my arm chopped off. [1600.0s] My hand. [1601.0s] Well, you want to come to Lucy's? [1602.0s] You tell us the story. [1603.0s] I can't. [1604.0s] Uh, well, yeah, yeah. [1606.0s] Hey, yeah. [1607.0s] Perfect. [1608.0s] Let's do that. [1609.0s] All right. [1610.0s] Yeah, all right. [1611.0s] You're going down there right now. [1612.0s] I can get off in about an hour. [1614.0s] Yeah, we'll be down there. [1615.0s] We'll have some soup waiting for you. [1616.0s] Oh, that sounds great. [1617.0s] What's your name, friend? [1618.0s] My name's Shoo. [1619.0s] Shoo Left Hand. [1621.0s] Which hand is he missing? [1622.0s] His left hand. [1623.0s] Oh, yeah, he is. [1625.0s] Ha, Shoo Left Hand. [1627.0s] I like your name. [1628.0s] I like your gumption. [1630.0s] Thanks, friend. [1631.0s] What's your name? [1632.0s] My name? [1637.0s] I'm Boot. [1640.0s] Boot, hey. [1642.0s] Pleasure to meet you, Boot. [1644.0s] Shoo, Boot. [1645.0s] It kind of seems like you guys were meant to meet. [1647.0s] Don't you think? [1648.0s] Boot and Shoo. [1649.0s] Oh, that's a good one. [1650.0s] I think we're going to be the best of friends. [1653.0s] Yeah. [1654.0s] My name is Tully. [1656.0s] Tully, nice to meet you. [1658.0s] Took you a long time to think of your name there. [1660.0s] Uh, well, you know. [1661.0s] Well, it was just the whole Shoo and Boot thing. [1664.0s] It was too much for me. [1666.0s] Oh, yeah, I get it. [1669.0s] Uh, I'm Slim. [1670.0s] I'm Slim. [1672.0s] Sure, Slim, because you're tall and Slim. [1674.0s] I get it. [1675.0s] Yeah, it's not one of those ironic nicknames. [1678.0s] It's one of those face reality kind of nicknames, you know. [1682.0s] Cool story, bro. [1683.0s] Yeah, I like it. [1685.0s] I dig it. [1686.0s] All right, we'll see you at Lucy's in like an hour or so. [1688.0s] Yeah, absolutely. [1690.0s] Nice. [1691.0s] All right. [1692.0s] All right. [1694.0s] Outie. [1696.0s] Cut down to the end of the other. [1698.0s] You're going to check out the other end of the dock. [1702.0s] Yeah, we're going to go to Lucy's, which is at the other end of the dock. [1708.0s] Perfect. [1709.0s] Yeah. [1710.0s] And we catch. [1711.0s] Check things out along the way. [1712.0s] Keep listening. [1713.0s] We catch a good table, too. [1714.0s] Right by the window, we can see the ships coming in and out. [1718.0s] Perfect. [1719.0s] It's fucking beautiful. [1720.0s] You sit down at Lucy's diner. [1724.0s] Full name, please. [1725.0s] Scrumptious. [1726.0s] Lucy's Slurpsious Scrumptious Diner. [1730.0s] I nailed it. [1731.0s] How'd that happen? [1732.0s] Right? [1733.0s] It's almost like it shouldn't be that, but it is. [1737.0s] It is almost like that. [1738.0s] But it is that. [1740.0s] But it is. [1741.0s] But that happened. [1742.0s] Yep. [1743.0s] You sit down at a windowed table and you don't notice the ship you're looking [1747.0s] for on the way back down there. [1749.0s] But you sit down and you sit and wait about an hour passes by unless you [1755.0s] specifically want to talk about anything else. [1758.0s] Yeah, I think we should probably talk about the situation we've gotten [1762.0s] ourselves into with shoot. [1765.0s] I don't really think it's fair to say we got us into that situation. [1770.0s] Yeah, OK. [1771.0s] I was thinking that if we have someone else like a local around us, [1775.0s] we're going to be a lot less suspicious. [1778.0s] I was thinking maybe we could get him real drunk and then leave him at the [1784.0s] table while we go and do what we got to do. [1787.0s] I don't know. [1788.0s] Also, I feel like he's kind of cool. [1790.0s] And if we asked him to come along with us, he might do it. [1796.0s] I mean, he said he used to be an adventurer. [1798.0s] Right? [1799.0s] You sound kind of nostalgic. [1801.0s] Although we're not so much being adventurers tonight. [1804.0s] I mean, we are in the grand scheme of things. [1806.0s] We're on a mission. [1807.0s] We're not so much specifically adventuring as we are maybe like [1813.0s] ship breaking and entering. [1814.0s] Yeah. [1815.0s] More of a Scallywag situation. [1817.0s] Yes. [1818.0s] Yes. [1819.0s] Scallywag is the perfect description. [1820.0s] There's a lot of gray area when it comes to adventure. [1823.0s] And, you know, we saved Merv's life. [1827.0s] We did. [1828.0s] Tonight. [1829.0s] And the only way we were able to do that was to agree to do something [1832.0s] that was a little bit shady. [1835.0s] Yeah. [1836.0s] The world is not black and white. [1838.0s] We adventurers, we work in the gray. [1840.0s] You have to make sacrifices to do the right thing sometimes. [1842.0s] And I understand that. [1844.0s] I like the maybe we just make a new friend and he comes along. [1848.0s] That'd be great. [1849.0s] Doesn't seem like it's going that way. [1850.0s] I wonder if he's like some kind of bureaucrat. [1852.0s] He had a clipboard. [1853.0s] That's true. [1854.0s] Clipboards. [1855.0s] Very important people carry clipboards. [1857.0s] Yeah. [1858.0s] So I'm also on board for the get him drunk and pump up our information. [1861.0s] Yeah. [1862.0s] Let's do that first. [1863.0s] And then maybe he'll just agree to come along and then, you know, [1866.0s] like he's already like indicted himself. [1870.0s] Yeah. [1871.0s] Yeah. [1873.0s] Yeah. [1874.0s] He's addicted that he'd like to come and get the stuff off the ship [1877.0s] with us. [1878.0s] Yeah. [1879.0s] And that's also I think I'm totally using that word right. [1882.0s] And then he's already done the thing. [1884.0s] So he's also, you know, guilty and will either come along with us out [1890.0s] of guilt or just at least not turn us in because he would also have to admit [1894.0s] to his own guiltiness. [1896.0s] Indicted. [1897.0s] This all makes total sense. [1899.0s] OK, good. [1900.0s] Sounds perfect. [1901.0s] You're sitting around discussing. [1902.0s] You hear the door chime open and tiny footsteps walk over and say, [1909.0s] hey, friends, good. [1910.0s] I thought you were just going to ditch me and not show up here. [1913.0s] Usually that's what happens to a good old shoe left hand here. [1918.0s] But good that you have a shoe. [1920.0s] Now, pull up a stump, my friend. [1922.0s] Thanks, boot. [1923.0s] Good to good to meet some new friends that just just want to share in the [1928.0s] in the in the in the in the good storytelling that we can all give to each other. [1933.0s] I look at Moot and I say, pull up a stump? [1937.0s] In bad taste, bro. [1941.0s] It's all right. [1942.0s] It's all right. [1943.0s] I'm used to it. [1944.0s] It's been missing for a while. [1945.0s] I'm so I didn't even think. [1947.0s] That's just something that I say. [1949.0s] He's from a place. [1950.0s] He's from a stump farming place. [1952.0s] I know it's it's just a coincidence. [1954.0s] It's like how his name is boot and your name is shoe. [1956.0s] It's just a crazy coincidence. [1957.0s] No one would ever figure out who knew how it could possibly happen. [1961.0s] That's right. [1962.0s] That's two people in the world who are named after footwear apparel. [1967.0s] That'd be like a hand in a glove coming together in the world. [1970.0s] One who was like a forestry person dealing in stumps, one who has a stump. [1975.0s] The coincidences are through the roof here. [1978.0s] I kind of feel like you guys were kind of meant to like become best friends. [1981.0s] I feel super big chemistry forming right now. [1984.0s] Cool. [1985.0s] I like it. [1986.0s] I like chemistry. [1987.0s] Actually, I'm not very good at chemistry. [1991.0s] Have a good day at work or? [1994.0s] It's a busy one. [1995.0s] Busy one. [1996.0s] Lots of ships. [1997.0s] Yeah. [1998.0s] I was working the night shift there timelines wise. [2001.0s] Getting off about. [2002.0s] Yeah. [2003.0s] It all works out. [2004.0s] Getting off in the early morning night shift. [2006.0s] But yeah. [2007.0s] What's the clipboard for shoe? [2010.0s] I mean important people have clipboards. [2013.0s] He pulls the clipboard from his satchel and says, well, so I can keep track of [2017.0s] ships coming and going. [2018.0s] You know what? [2019.0s] You got a rough schedule of when they're supposed to be arriving, where they're [2023.0s] supposed to be docking. [2024.0s] You can yell at them, say, this isn't your dock. [2026.0s] And then they move down to another dock. [2028.0s] It's a very powerful piece of equipment when you're working in the shipping, the [2032.0s] shipyard industry. [2033.0s] What would you say your title is in this industry? [2036.0s] Very important. [2037.0s] Well, they call me the dock specialist. [2041.0s] Wow. [2043.0s] Because I specialize in dock. [2045.0s] Yeah. [2046.0s] Yeah. [2047.0s] I know. [2048.0s] It makes sense. [2049.0s] Information, dock related materials. [2050.0s] You had to go to school for a long time. [2051.0s] A lot of logistics. [2052.0s] Shoe left hand. [2053.0s] D.S. [2054.0s] Shoe left hand. [2055.0s] D.S. [2056.0s] Yeah. [2057.0s] I can open it. [2058.0s] It almost sounds like detectives. [2059.0s] Shoe left hand detective. [2060.0s] That would have been good too. [2062.0s] But no, docks. [2063.0s] Like a gum shoe. [2064.0s] Shoe left hand gum shoe. [2066.0s] D.S. [2067.0s] Just in case you're thinking about a career change, you know? [2072.0s] Sure. [2073.0s] Yeah. [2074.0s] I mean, who would give up this sweet gig though? [2075.0s] Well, like I said, this wasn't the gig of my dreams. [2078.0s] This was just the gig of happenstance. [2081.0s] How did I get this clipboard? [2083.0s] I happened to be there and look like the last guy. [2088.0s] Oh. [2089.0s] They handed me a clipboard and said, I work here now. [2094.0s] So I work here. [2095.0s] The last guy also was a goblin who was missing his left hand. [2098.0s] I don't know if he was missing his left hand. [2100.0s] I never met him. [2101.0s] But the way that they just thought that I was him led me to believe that there were some similarities. [2105.0s] Another coincidence. [2106.0s] Yeah, fair. [2107.0s] Well, how'd you find it? [2109.0s] Are you like Cerulean or you come from somewhere else? [2114.0s] Since you're an adventurer like us, I assume you've been to many different places. [2118.0s] Oh, I come from the mountains up near past the Dale lands there. [2124.0s] The Dale lands? [2125.0s] We were like just up there. [2127.0s] Whoa, what were you doing up in the Dale land? [2130.0s] Enjoying some super great apples to tell you what. [2133.0s] Oh, those apples. [2135.0s] Known for the apples in the orchards there. [2138.0s] When you go back up through that way, you ask yourself for some apple crisp. [2142.0s] Change your life. [2145.0s] Wow. [2146.0s] They weren't serving that. [2147.0s] Last time I was there, which city was you in? [2149.0s] We were in High Moon. [2150.0s] What was the name of that place? [2151.0s] High Moon. [2152.0s] High Moon. [2153.0s] High Moon, lovely town. [2154.0s] Oh, yeah. [2155.0s] Lovely people up in High Moon. [2157.0s] A lot of love. [2158.0s] A lot of love in High Moon. [2160.0s] I emphasize the love. [2161.0s] Giving it out freely. [2164.0s] I saw so many body parts up there. [2167.0s] Wow. [2168.0s] A lot of butts. [2169.0s] Oh, yeah. [2171.0s] Cool. [2177.0s] We're in the middle now. [2186.0s] What up? [2187.0s] Yo. [2188.0s] I kind of had like a pink kind of feel to it. [2189.0s] I thought there was going to be more of that song. [2190.0s] Oh, it was kind of bad, but that's fine. [2193.0s] We're in the middle now and we're going to tell you about the stuff. [2197.0s] Too many words. [2198.0s] Too many words. [2199.0s] But hey, we're here. [2200.0s] You know what you can do next week, if you were so inclined, is visit Patreon.com [2205.0s] Patreon.com slash dumb dragon cast. [2248.0s] I think the best part about the game time games is that we always learn how to be [2253.0s] better at D&D from our patrons. [2256.0s] Very true. [2257.0s] I was going to say the best thing about the game time games is that if you think [2262.0s] about how we play with characters that we care about and love and like really want to [2267.0s] keep alive and then imagine how we play characters we're playing one time. [2273.0s] It's a bit reckless. [2275.0s] We're a bit less precious. [2276.0s] Just let loose is what you get to see. [2278.0s] Dumbgeons Unchained. [2281.0s] Oh, boy. [2283.0s] Setting the bar real high, Tom. [2285.0s] Look out. [2286.0s] Oh, geez. [2287.0s] Please go check that out. [2289.0s] If it works for you, great. [2290.0s] We'd love to see you there. [2291.0s] If not this month, then maybe one coming up very soon. [2294.0s] And now let's get you back to the episode. [2297.0s] Hopefully I'll have a great week. [2298.0s] We'll talk to you soon. [2299.0s] Okay. [2300.0s] Bye. [2301.0s] Bye. [2308.0s] So you have to work like every day or is it a good job? [2311.0s] You get paid a lot. [2312.0s] Sorry. [2313.0s] That's rude. [2314.0s] I grew up on the streets, so I don't know. [2316.0s] I'm not very. [2317.0s] It's all good. [2318.0s] I don't have good social graces. [2319.0s] Slim. [2320.0s] Yeah. [2321.0s] No, totally. [2322.0s] You're in good company here. [2323.0s] No, don't worry about it. [2324.0s] It's not like some hoity-toity place. [2325.0s] Cereloon is obviously this is kind of your first time through. [2330.0s] It's a little seedy here. [2331.0s] You've got to kind of blend in your types here. [2336.0s] I don't want to say it, but a little bit sketchy. [2341.0s] Well, that's probably why they got all the extra guts. [2345.0s] Huh? [2346.0s] There was lots of guards. [2347.0s] Yeah, a lot of guards. [2348.0s] There was some new folk coming through town just blasting face. [2351.0s] Did you hear about that? [2353.0s] Like farts? [2354.0s] Whoa. [2355.0s] Oh. [2356.0s] No, what happened? [2357.0s] Not with farts. [2358.0s] No, with like fire out of their mouths. [2361.0s] What? [2362.0s] It's like a dragon or something came in. [2365.0s] Talk about light burn. [2367.0s] Huh? [2368.0s] Telling me they probably had Taco Tuesdays down the street there right before getting [2373.0s] a fight. [2375.0s] Well, I would like to see that. [2378.0s] Sounds like it would have been a sight. [2380.0s] You know, my friend, he was walking by. [2382.0s] He told me about it, said it was like a dragon person. [2387.0s] And they was like, yes. [2390.0s] The guy was just trying to just pet a donkey or something. [2393.0s] And then they turned around and were like, no, and then fire. [2398.0s] And then like, burninating was mentioned. [2401.0s] And they were like threatening that they would kill their children while they [2407.0s] sleep. [2408.0s] Wow. [2409.0s] These sound like bad dudes. [2410.0s] Bad people. [2411.0s] That's why they're up in a wanted sign in the city filled with criminals. [2415.0s] Yeah, I saw that. [2417.0s] I mean, must be giving a break to all the other criminals. [2420.0s] They're like, whoo. [2422.0s] Yeah. [2423.0s] Safe for right now. [2424.0s] Right. [2425.0s] So what are you three doing in town? [2428.0s] Well, we were up in High Moon doing it, doing a thing. [2432.0s] And then we thought doing it. [2434.0s] What do we what should we do now? [2436.0s] Like join a caravan. [2437.0s] We've already done that. [2438.0s] I thought we'd come here and like, what about a boat? [2441.0s] Yeah, like see something different. [2443.0s] It's pretty cool to be on the boat. [2445.0s] Lots of water. [2447.0s] Yeah. [2450.0s] You ever you spent a lot of time on a boat before? [2453.0s] Well, I get to go up on the boats here. [2455.0s] I mean, I did go out on a boat once, but not like as a profession, you know, [2459.0s] but I do get to go up on them, you know, just check inventory sometimes [2464.0s] and then come back down. [2466.0s] You can give us maybe like maybe you could like, [2470.0s] since you got such like an important job and stuff, [2473.0s] give us a good reference. [2475.0s] We find a ship we like, we want to work on. [2477.0s] You'll put in a good word for us. [2479.0s] Yeah, absolutely. [2481.0s] What kind of skills do you bring to this to the shipping industry? [2485.0s] Well, well, I know it didn't sound like it because I was looking to like [2490.0s] lift something light, but I'm pretty strong. [2492.0s] I mean, you look at slam. [2493.0s] I mean, you scrawny on the exterior, but it's all muscle. [2497.0s] I can just tell just by looking at you. [2499.0s] Yeah, pretty, pretty strong. [2501.0s] I'm great with ropes. [2503.0s] I can tie so many knots. [2506.0s] I can swing from them. [2507.0s] I can climb them like a hot damn. [2509.0s] Real naughty, are you? [2511.0s] Oh, you know it. [2513.0s] He winks at you. [2514.0s] I'm real good at swabbing things like decks. [2519.0s] Real good at that. [2520.0s] Everybody needs a swab for the poop deck. [2524.0s] Boot on the poop deck. [2527.0s] I can see it now. [2529.0s] It has a ring to it. [2530.0s] That's for sure. [2531.0s] It sure does. [2532.0s] Yep. [2533.0s] All right. [2534.0s] So you got a pulls out his clipboard, starts writing down boot, [2536.0s] clip deck, tully, naughty, slim, super strong. [2543.0s] All right. [2544.0s] If I hear anybody looking, you know, you guys, obviously you're looking for a job. [2548.0s] You're going to be in town till you find a job. [2550.0s] Yeah. [2551.0s] I'll keep an ear out. [2552.0s] Awesome. [2553.0s] That'd be really great. [2555.0s] Well, I think we should buy you a drink to celebrate. [2558.0s] Oh, it's the least we can do. [2560.0s] I appreciate it. [2561.0s] You must be thirsty. [2562.0s] You work such a long day. [2563.0s] You're the first nice person we've seen in this entire time. [2567.0s] Really? [2568.0s] Everybody's so nice all usually. [2572.0s] Well, I don't know. [2573.0s] You told us some people were blasting faces. [2575.0s] Real shady characters. [2577.0s] Well, yeah. [2578.0s] But if you shady, they stay cool with you. [2581.0s] And those people was coming in blasting faces of our shady people. [2586.0s] It's like mind your own business, right? [2588.0s] Right. [2589.0s] We don't come into your town and blast your face. [2592.0s] Right. [2593.0s] Seems like a little bit overkill for only getting a donkey. [2595.0s] Welcome to Saloon. [2597.0s] We don't want our faces blasted. [2599.0s] You guys should put that on a sign. [2601.0s] That's a good town slogan, right? [2603.0s] I'm going to write that down, too. [2605.0s] We don't want... [2608.0s] So where's that drink? [2610.0s] Back heap. [2612.0s] Around over here, please. [2614.0s] A tooth for my friend. [2616.0s] The day goes on a little while. [2619.0s] Do you just hang out all day watching the docks? [2622.0s] Yeah. [2623.0s] Why not? [2624.0s] We're in good company. [2627.0s] I'm sure he's telling us all sorts of adventuring stories. [2629.0s] The day goes on. [2630.0s] The drinks keep flowing. [2632.0s] You have a few meals. [2634.0s] You're watching the ships coming and going. [2637.0s] And it gets to be kind of dusk. [2639.0s] And you see a large ship coming in, bigger than any that have come down to this area. [2646.0s] And you see a flag up in the crow's nest. [2650.0s] And it has an image of two lions' faces. [2654.0s] Blue and white checkers. [2657.0s] And a star. [2659.0s] I kind of, like, casually elbow my friends. [2664.0s] Like, you guys see that? [2667.0s] See that? [2668.0s] Silly nods. [2671.0s] Hey, Shoo, that's a big boat coming in there, hey? [2675.0s] Hey, it looks over. [2678.0s] Yeah, oh, yeah, that's one of the bigger ones that comes in. [2682.0s] Yep. [2684.0s] Yeah. [2685.0s] Pretty impressive. [2686.0s] It's got a pretty cool flag. [2688.0s] Well, that's the flag of, uh, Algor... [2693.0s] Algonquin? [2695.0s] No, not Algonquin. [2697.0s] Allegory. [2698.0s] No, I don't think that's... [2700.0s] Alligator. [2701.0s] Algorithm. [2702.0s] Algor... [2703.0s] Ag... [2704.0s] Aglaron. [2707.0s] Oh, I heard of that place. [2710.0s] Flag of Aglaron. [2711.0s] I haven't even heard of that place. [2713.0s] Where is that? [2714.0s] It's across the sea, opposite Kitty Corner, you know. [2718.0s] I'm dodging the poking that's happening as he's, like, pointing around. [2722.0s] Wildly gesturing. [2724.0s] Yeah, it comes in every couple months, brings a whole bunch of, I don't even [2730.0s] know, like, real things that, like, you know, the wizards and, like, [2736.0s] witches and all that sort of stuff. [2738.0s] They like all those sorts of herbs and chemicals. [2742.0s] Oh, wizards and witches. [2743.0s] That sounds dangerous. [2744.0s] Oh, my. [2745.0s] I don't know. [2746.0s] Wizards and witches and warlocks. [2748.0s] Oh, my. [2749.0s] Oh, my, right? [2750.0s] But yeah, biggest ship that comes in. [2752.0s] It's got a pretty big crew. [2754.0s] I don't know if they'd... [2755.0s] If that's what you're asking for, I don't know if they'd need anybody [2759.0s] working for them. [2760.0s] They usually come fully stocked because, you know, it's fully staffed because [2764.0s] they come in, they drop their gear, you know, this day or the night, [2768.0s] and then they head back out. [2770.0s] Do they take tours? [2771.0s] Because that's, like, a big-ass boat, and I'm not going to lie, [2774.0s] the size of it really intrigues me. [2777.0s] Like, you to tour the ship? [2779.0s] They don't even let me up. [2780.0s] Yeah. [2781.0s] They don't even let dock supervisor... [2783.0s] You are the dock specialist. [2784.0s] I saw you were supposed to check in. [2786.0s] The inventory. [2787.0s] Everybody had to let you while you got the clipboard. [2789.0s] Well, you know, higher up dock specialists, maybe. [2794.0s] Oh. [2796.0s] But, you know, me, I'm down at the other end there, smaller ships, [2800.0s] little just, you know, tiny merchants down there. [2805.0s] Okay, I'm going to be up front with you. [2807.0s] I don't have all the pull that you think I do. [2811.0s] But... [2812.0s] Oh, I'm sure you do, Shoo. [2813.0s] I mean, we can go ask. [2815.0s] Like, you know, I've been here around long. [2816.0s] I recognize probably a couple of the friends up there. [2821.0s] To be honest, I haven't been on that ship specifically. [2823.0s] Wait a minute. [2824.0s] Wait a minute. [2825.0s] I got a great idea, you guys. [2827.0s] You said that they all disembark and they spend the night on land? [2831.0s] Well, yeah, a bulk of them. [2833.0s] I'm pretty sure they leave a couple on there, you know. [2835.0s] Okay, okay. [2837.0s] What if, instead of asking for permission, [2841.0s] we ask for forgiveness after we take a tour tonight? [2847.0s] You're going to just sneak onto the ship? [2850.0s] Shhh. [2852.0s] You're going to just sneak? [2855.0s] You're going to... [2856.0s] Why do you want to sneak onto... [2858.0s] You could get killed. [2860.0s] What for sneaking onto a ship? [2862.0s] We just want to look around. [2864.0s] Oh, those guys carry big swords and stuff. [2867.0s] Oh, but you know what? [2869.0s] You have a pretty big sword. [2871.0s] Pumping through my veins? [2873.0s] Don't you miss that? [2875.0s] I grab him by the shoulder. [2877.0s] Don't you miss the adventure shoe? [2879.0s] I do miss the adventure tully. [2881.0s] And yes, it is a big sword boot. [2884.0s] Slim, you didn't say anything particularly motivational, but I guess... [2889.0s] You see the glint? [2890.0s] The glint. [2891.0s] The glint in the eyes. [2892.0s] It's a bit of a Glimer in your eye there, Slim. [2896.0s] No, no, it's really more of a glint. [2898.0s] Okay, glint. [2899.0s] Steely glint. [2900.0s] Steely, yeah. [2901.0s] On account of your street-wise upbringing. [2903.0s] That's right. [2904.0s] The mother didn't care about them. [2906.0s] Why don't we just wait until they all get off the ship? [2909.0s] Just tiptoe on. [2911.0s] Take a little look around. [2914.0s] What could it hurt? [2915.0s] You know what? [2916.0s] Then with the knowledge of the ship, they're totally going to want to hire us. [2921.0s] Because we'll like, know things about the ship. [2925.0s] And they'll be like, we need these people on our ship. [2929.0s] We're already experts. [2930.0s] We're already trained that it wouldn't even need to train us. [2932.0s] We'd already know our way around. [2933.0s] You're right. [2934.0s] They'd be like, where's the mess hall? [2935.0s] And we'd be able to tell them because like, we know. [2938.0s] You don't think that would seem suspicious? [2941.0s] Maybe. [2942.0s] Or would it be really amazing? [2944.0s] There's only one way to find out as an adventurer would. [2950.0s] You've got me there. [2952.0s] He puts his clipboard down. [2954.0s] Finishes his drink. [2957.0s] Says, well, are we going to do this or what? [2960.0s] What time is it? [2962.0s] Well, they just pulled in. [2963.0s] So it's probably, probably want to wait a little bit. [2967.0s] OK, let's keep our eyes open. [2969.0s] Let's have another round of that soup. [2972.0s] It is good soup. [2975.0s] OK, you watch several more hours as you see them docking and tying up the ship. [2983.0s] I stopped drinking at the moment. [2985.0s] We decide we're going to sneak onto the ship. [2987.0s] Yeah. [2988.0s] OK, do you stop Shu from drinking? [2990.0s] No, no, keep buying Shu drinks. [2992.0s] Yes. [2993.0s] I go up to the bar and explain that we're all going to be drinking water from here on out. [2999.0s] But Shu will continue to be drinking whatever he was drinking. [3002.0s] OK. [3003.0s] But if we're taking him with us. [3006.0s] That's fine. [3007.0s] I like this. [3008.0s] He's not going to be very sneaky. [3010.0s] I mean, no one said he had to come with us, Amy. [3012.0s] The plan was to get him drunk, get information and then leave him. [3016.0s] If he drinks enough, he might just get real sleepy. [3018.0s] Fair enough. [3019.0s] I thought we were gathering a fourth in our party. [3022.0s] OK, well, I'm going to roll four constitution checks here. [3029.0s] And he hasn't rolled below a 12. [3032.0s] So he, as you see the bulk or from what you can presume, the bulk of the crew of this ship that has just pulled in, [3043.0s] which through talking with Shu more, you've come to learn that the name of this ship is the Golden Dragon. [3050.0s] Of course it is. [3053.0s] The bulk of their crew leave to go into various inns and taverns and spend the night. [3061.0s] It looks very quiet on the dock. [3063.0s] It's gotten back to that point where there are fewer people walking about from what you remember the night before. [3072.0s] Shu looks to you in his inebriated state and says, well, as of are we going to do has has. [3081.0s] When when do we jump on the ships? [3086.0s] Well, I think it's just one ship tonight. [3089.0s] That's what I said. [3090.0s] Are you OK, man? Are you all right to do this? [3094.0s] Sure. Yeah. [3095.0s] I got the clipboard. [3097.0s] He picks up his clip. [3098.0s] I'm your I'm your tickets in here. [3102.0s] I had a thought. [3103.0s] I know you got the clipboard, but we're all just we're just adventurers. [3107.0s] We can just sneak on, sneak off. [3109.0s] No repercussions. [3111.0s] You got a whole like career going. [3114.0s] Are you sure you want to? [3116.0s] I thought we would risk it just for a little. [3118.0s] Hey, man, you make your own decisions. [3122.0s] I thought maybe that, you know, shoes left hand was going to join slim toot and poly. [3132.0s] Oh, no, for sure. [3133.0s] I mean, you get like my friend here said, you get to make your own decisions. [3139.0s] We just you know, we we've just grown fond of you. [3142.0s] And I think we feel real shitty. [3145.0s] You hold your liquors a lot better than you do this a lot, don't you? [3150.0s] Drinking a lot of practice. [3152.0s] Yeah, yeah, a lot of drinking. [3154.0s] We got to be ready to adventure no matter what state you're at. [3157.0s] So, you know, OK, well, I mean, I don't want to I don't want to be left behind. [3164.0s] I mean, I could be at least be, you know, if you get caught, like, just say, oh, we're just checking the manifolds. [3171.0s] Sure. Yeah. And the manatees. [3174.0s] If they got them on board, maybe we got to double check and make sure they've got all six. [3180.0s] I didn't. Yeah. All right. [3184.0s] So, OK. Well, you know what? [3186.0s] We probably need a lookout. Yeah. [3190.0s] Yeah. Everybody knows you around here. [3194.0s] I don't want to brag, but, yeah, they kind of know shoe left hand. [3198.0s] Everybody. Everybody always talks about shoe, probably how he's always the best one to deal with when you pull into the dock and he's the one you want. [3207.0s] And brings you the soup when you're, you know, working hard. [3212.0s] Yeah. Yeah. [3214.0s] Oh, OK. Yeah. [3215.0s] We need a lookout, need someone just to peek around corners and get in there, get in, get out. [3221.0s] Well, you're like, you'd be like at the on the dock, right, with your clipboard looking hella important. [3228.0s] And if there's someone coming who's going to be getting on the ship, maybe we need to have like you need to give us the sign. [3238.0s] The sign. What's the sign? [3241.0s] Yeah. We need a signal. [3243.0s] Oh, oh. [3245.0s] Something to tell you that someone is coming on. [3250.0s] Something like that. [3258.0s] Like that? Yeah. [3260.0s] I mean, that's pretty close. [3264.0s] OK, we definitely draw attention to ourselves. [3267.0s] I hear a birdish creature calling out in the night. [3273.0s] We'll know it's you and you are doing your part for this team. [3277.0s] Right. [3278.0s] But I mean, don't do it unless like someone's actually going to board the ship and like, you know, blast us. [3286.0s] Sure. Yeah, no, we got to make sure. [3288.0s] You got the most important job, man. [3291.0s] Are you ready for this? [3293.0s] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. [3298.0s] Are you sure? [3299.0s] Like I said, I know that you're risking. [3301.0s] I don't want you to get in trouble or lose your job. [3303.0s] I'm not worried about that. [3305.0s] I could find another job in a heartbeat. [3308.0s] Jobs? Dime a dozen. [3311.0s] No, but I could find one. [3315.0s] OK, Birdman clipboard specialist protecting the adventuring group. [3322.0s] What do we call ourselves? [3324.0s] Oh, what do you think? [3326.0s] Do you have a good idea? [3329.0s] Shoes crew. [3330.0s] Shoes crew. [3331.0s] Oh, I like that. [3334.0s] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [3337.0s] Shoes crew. [3339.0s] I feel like it's like an Ocean's Eleven kind of thing here. [3342.0s] But we're four and I'm a shoe. [3345.0s] And this is a sea instead of an ocean. [3348.0s] Yes, for sure. Let's go now.
